  • Authenticating AIX Users Against OID (Oracle Internet Directory)

    - by mwilkes
We have a need to authenticate local users on an AIX server against OID using LDAP. We have a branch within OID where we've placed and synchronized Active Directory users. We've also configured external authentication on OID so that it verifies username/passwords against AD. Has anyone configured authentication for AIX in this type of environment? We believe we need to populate unix specific attributes on the user's directory entry in OID, but are unsure which attributes are needed. Additionally, we are looking to authenticate Oracle database users against OID but because of external authentication we are unable to populate the ORCLPASSWORD attribute on the user's directory entry on OID (which is the attribute Oracle is looking for password in). Help with either or both are welcome.

  • Why does snmp fail to use its own MIBs?

    - by chrisdew
I've done a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04LTS, and installed the snmpd and snmp packages. If I type: snmpwalk -m ALL -v2c -c public localhost 1.3 I get swathes of errors, of the form: Cannot adopt OID in SQUID-MIB: cacheClients ::= { cacheProtoAggregateStats 15 } Cannot adopt OID in NET-SNMP-EXTEND-MIB: nsExtendLineIndex ::= { nsExtendOutput2Entry 1 } Cannot adopt OID in NET-SNMP-EXTEND-MIB: nsExtendOutLine ::= { nsExtendOutput2Entry 2 } Cannot adopt OID in UCD-SNMP-MIB: laIndex ::= { laEntry 1 } Cannot adopt OID in UCD-SNMP-MIB: laNames ::= { laEntry 2 } Cannot adopt OID in UCD-SNMP-MIB: laLoad ::= { laEntry 3 } Cannot adopt OID in UCD-SNMP-MIB: laConfig ::= { laEntry 4 } Cannot adopt OID in UCD-SNMP-MIB: laLoadInt ::= { laEntry 5 } Cannot adopt OID in UCD-SNMP-MIB: laLoadFloat ::= { laEntry 6 } Cannot adopt OID in UCD-SNMP-MIB: laErrorFlag ::= { laEntry 100 } Cannot adopt OID in UCD-SNMP-MIB: laErrMessage ::= { laEntry 101 } Cannot adopt OID in NET-SNMP-AGENT-MIB: nsNotifyRestart ::= { netSnmpNotifications 3 } Cannot adopt OID in NET-SNMP-AGENT-MIB: nsNotifyShutdown ::= { netSnmpNotifications 2 } Cannot adopt OID in NET-SNMP-AGENT-MIB: nsNotifyStart ::= { netSnmpNotifications 1 } There a literally hundreds of these. If snmp doesn't even like the distro-included MIBs, what chance to I have of getting my own used? (I get the same form of error with my own MIB, on a different machine, which is why I set up a clean install.) Do other distros have this issue? Is there something obvious that I am overlooking here? Thanks, Chris.

If you need more-advanced features, it's also possible to integrate it with Oracle Internet Directory and Oracle Single Sign-On or Oracle Access Manager, which allows you to link the E-Business Suite with third-party tools like Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Kerberos, and CA Netegrity SiteMinder.  For details about third-party integration architectures, see either of these article for EBS 11i and 12:In-Depth: Using Third-Party Identity Managers with E-Business Suite Release 12In-Depth: Using Third-Party Identity Managers with the E-Business Suite Release 11iOracle Internet Directory 11.1.1.4 is now certified with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i, 12.0 and 12.1.  OID 11.1.1.4 is part of Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 Version 11.1.1.4.0, also known as FMW 11g Patchset 3.  Certified E-Business Suite releases are:EBS Release 11i 11.5.10.2 + ATG RUP 7 and higherEBS Release 12.0.6 and higherEBS Release 12.1.1 and higherOracle Internet Directory 11.1.1.3.0 can be integrated with two single sign-on solutions for EBS environments:With Oracle Single Sign-On Server 10g (10.1.4.3.0) with an existing Oracle E-Business Suite system (Release 11i, 12.0.x or 12.1.1) With Oracle Access Manager 10g (10.1.4.3) with an existing Oracle E-Business Suite system (Release 11i or 12.1.x)

  • Postgresql 8.4 reading OID style BLOBs with Hibernate

    - by peter
I am getting this weird case when querying Postgres 8.4 for some records with Blobs (of type OIDs) with Hibernate. The query does return all right but when my code wants to read the content of the BLOB with the simple code below, it gets 0 bytes back public static byte[] readBlob(Blob blob) throws Exception { InputStream is = null; try { is = blob.getBinaryStream(); return org.apache.commons.io.IOUtils.toByteArray(is); } finally { if (is != null) try { is.close(); } catch(Exception e) {} } } Funny think is that I am getting this behavior only since I've started adding more then one such records to the table. The underlying JDBC library is type 3 (postgresq 8.4-701). Can someone give me a hint as to how to solve this issue? Thanks Peter

  • PostgreSQL: BYTEA vs OID+Large Object?

    - by mlaverd
I started an application with Hibernate 3.2 and PostgreSQL 8.4. I have some byte[] fields that were mapped as @Basic (= PG bytea) and others that got mapped as @Lob (=PG Large Object). Why the inconsistency? Because I was a Hibernate noob. Now, those fields are max 4 Kb (but average is 2-3 kb). The PostgreSQL documentation mentioned that the LOs are good when the fields are big, but I didn't see what 'big' meant. I have upgraded to PostgreSQL 9.0 with Hibernate 3.6 and I was stuck to change the annotation to @Type(type="org.hibernate.type.PrimitiveByteArrayBlobType"). This bug has brought forward a potential compatibility issue, and I eventually found out that Large Objects are a pain to deal with, compared to a normal field. So I am thinking of changing all of it to bytea. But I am concerned that bytea fields are encoded in Hex, so there is some overhead in encoding and decoding, and this would hurt the performance. Are there good benchmarks about the performance of both of these? Anybody has made the switch and saw a difference?

  • SNMP: OID to use when writing custom MIBs

    - by justcatchingrye
If you are writing your own MIB for a bespoke application, is there a 'best practice' for which branch you should use. I'm thinking of something analogous to private IP addresses, that can be used within enterprises, without conflicting with Registered IP addresses I have been asked to make a suggestion, as I advised Application Developers that they should not use OIDs under .1.3.6.1.4.1.111 - This is the Oracle branch

  • OFM 11g: Implementing OAM SSO with Forms

    - by olaf.heimburger
There is some confusion about the integration of OFM 11g Forms with Oracle Access Manager 11g (OAM). Some say this does not work, some say it works, but.... Actually, having implemented it many times I belong to the later group. Here is how. Caveat Before you start installing anything, take a step back and consider your current implementation and what you really need and want to achieve. The current integration of Forms 11g with OAM 11g does not support self-service account creation and password resets from the Forms application. If you really need this, you must use the existing Oracle AS 10.1.4.3 infrastructure. On the other hand, if your user population is pretty stable, you can enjoy the latest Forms 11g with OAM 11g. Assumptions The whole process should be done in one day. I assume that all domains and instances are started during setup, if you need to restart them on demand or purpose, be sure to have proper start/stop scripts, I don't mention them. Preparation It goes without saying, that you always should do a proper backup before you change anything on your production environment. With proper backup, I also mean a tested and verified restore process. If you dared to test it before, do it now. It pays off. Requirements For OAM 11g to work properly you need a LDAP repository. For the integration of Forms 11g you need an Oracle Internet Directory (OID) configured with the Oracle AS SSO LDAP extensions. For better support I usually give the latest version a try, in this case OID 11g is a good choice.During the Installation and Integration steps we use an upgrade wizard that needs the old OID configuration on the same host but in a different ORACLE_HOME. Installation vs Configuration With OFM 11g Oracle introduced a clear separation between Installation of the binaries (the software) and the Configuration of the instances (the runtime). This is really great as you can install all the software and create new instances when needed. In the following we adhere to this scheme and install the software first and then configure the instances later. Installation Steps The Oracle documentation contains all the necessary steps for the installation of all pieces of software. But some hints help to avoid traps and pitfalls. Step 1 The Database Start the installation with the database. It is quite obvious but we need an Oracle database for all the other steps. If you have one at hand, fine. If not, just install at least a Oracle 10.2.0.4 version. This database can be on a different host. Step 2 The Repository Creation Utility The next step should be to run the Repository Creation Utility (RCU). This is a client application that just needs to connect to your database. It can be run on any host that can reach the database and is a Windows or Linux 32-bit machine. When you run it, be sure to install the OID schema and the OAM schema. If you miss one of these, you can run the RCU again to install the missing schema. Step 3 The Foundation With OFM 11g Oracle started to use WebLogic Server 11g (WLS) as its foundation for all OFM 11g installation. We therefore install it first. Depending on your operating system, it might be possible, that no native installer is available. My approach to this dilemma is to use the WLS Generic Installer for all my installations. It does not include a JDK either but if you have both for your platform you are ready to go. Step 3a The JDK To make things interesting, Oracle currently has two JDKs in its portfolio. The Sun JDK and the JRockit JDK. Both are available for a number of platforms. If you are lucky and both are available for your platform, install both in a separate directory (and not one of your ORACLE_HOMEs) each, You can use the later as you like. Step 3b Install WLS for OID and OAM With the JDK installed, we start the generic installer with java -jar wls_generic.jar.STOP! Before you do this, check the version first. It should be 1.6.0_18 or later and not the GCC one (Some Linux distros have it installed by default). To verify the version, issue a java -version command and make sure that the output does not contain the text gcj and the version matches. If this does not work, use an absolute path like /opt/java/jdk1.6.0_23/bin/java to start the installer. The installer allows you to specify a path to install the software into, say /opt/oracle/iam/11.1.1.3 for the OID and OAM installation. We will call this IAM_HOME. Step 4 Install OID Now we are ready to install OID. Start the OID installer (in the Disk1 directory) and just select the installation only step. This will install the software only and does not configure the instance. Use the IAM_HOME as the target directory. Step 5 Install SOA Suite The IAM 11g Suite uses the BPEL component of the SOA Suite 11g for its workflows. This is a pretty closed environment and not to be used for SCA Composites. We install the SOA Suite in $IAM_HOME/soa. The installer only installs the binaries. Configuration will be done later. Step 6 Install OAM Once the installation of OID and SOA is done, we are ready to install the OAM software in the same IAM_HOME. Make sure to install the OAM binaries in a directory different from the one you used during the OID and SOA installation. As before, we only install the software, the instance will be created later. Step 7 Backup the Installation At this point, I normally do a backup (or snapshot in a virtual image) of the installation. Good when you need to go back to this point. Step 8 Configure OID The software is installed and now we need instances to run it. This process is called configuration. For OID use the config.sh found in $IAM_HOME/oid/bin to start the configuration wizard. Normally this runs smoothly. If you encounter some issues check the Oracle Support site for help. This configuration will also start the OID instance. Step 9 Install the Oracle AS SSO Schema Before we install the Forms software we need to install the Oracle AS SSO Schema into the database and OID. This is a rather dangerous procedure, but fully documented in the IAM Installation Guide, Chapter 10. You should finish this in one go, do not reboot your host during the whole procedure. As a precaution, you should make a backup of the OID instance before you start the procedure. Once the backup is ready, read the chapter, including every note, carefully. You can avoid a number of issues by following all the steps and will succeed with a working solution. Step 10 Configure OAM Reached this step? Great. You are ready to create an OAM instance. Use the $IAM_HOME/iam/common/binconfig.sh for this. This will open the WLS Domain Creation Wizard and asks for the libraries to be installed. You should at least select the OAM with Database repository item. The configuration will also start the OAM instance. Step 11 Install WLS for Forms 11g It is quite tempting to install everything in one ORACLE_HOME. Unfortunately this does not work for all OFM packages. Therefore we do another WLS installation in another ORACLE_HOME. The same considerations as in step 3b apply. We call this one FORMS_HOME. Step 12 Install Forms In the FORMS_HOME we now install the binaries for the Forms 11g software. Again, this is a install only step. Configuration starts with the next step. Step 13 Configure Forms To configure Forms 11g we start the Configuration Wizard (config.sh) in FORMS_HOME/bin. This wizard should create a new WebLogic Domain and an OHS instance! Do not extend existing domains or instances! Forms should run in its own instances! When all information is supplied, the wizard will create the domain and instance and starts them automatically.Step 14 Setup your Forms SSO EnvironmentOnce you have implemented and tested your Forms 11g instance, you can configured it for SSO. Yes, this requires the old Oracle AS SSO solution, OIDDAS for creating and assigning users and SSO to setup your partner applications. In this step you should consider to create every user necessary for use within the environment. When done, do not forget to test it. Step 15 Migrate the SSO Repository Since the final goal is to get rid of the old SSO implementation we need to migrate the old SSO repository into the new OID structure. Additionally, this step will also migrate all partner application configurations into OAM 11g. Quite convenient. To do this step, you have to start the upgrade agent (ua or ua.bat or ua.cmd) on the operating system level in $IAM_HOME/bin. Once finished, this wizard will create new osso.conf files for each partner application in $IAM_HOME/upgrade/temp/oam/.Note: At the time of this writing, this step only works if everything is on the same host (ie. OID, OAM, etc.). This restriction might be lifted in later releases. Step 16 Change your OHS sso.conf and shut down OC4J_SECURITY In Step 14 we verified that SSO for our Forms environment works fine. Now, we are shutting the old system done and reconfigure the OHS that acts as the Forms entry point. First we go to the OHS configuration directory and rename the old osso.conf  to osso.conf.10g. Now we change the moduleconf/mod_osso.conf  to point to the new osso.conf file. Copy the new osso.conf  file from $IAM_HOME/upgrade/temp/oam/ to the OHS configuration directory. Restart OHS, test forms by using the same forms links. OAM should now kick in and show the login dialog to ask for your user credentials.Done. Now your Forms environment is successfully integrated with OAM 11g.Enjoy. What's Next? This rather lengthy setup is just the foundation for your growing environment of OAM 11g protections. In the next entry we will show that Forms 11g and ADF Faces 11g can use the same OAM installation and provide real single sign-on. References Nearly everything is documented. Use the documentation! • Custom SNMP Cacti Data Source fails to update

    - by Andrew Wilkinson
I'm trying to create a custom SNMP datasource for Cacti but despite everything I can check being correct, it is not creating the rrd file, or updating it even when I create it. Other, standard SNMP sources are working correctly so it's not SNMP or permissions that are the problem. I've created a new Data Query, which when I click on "Verbose Query" on the device screen returns the following: + Running data query [10]. + Found type = '3' [SNMP Query]. + Found data query XML file at '/volume1/web/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/syno_volume_stats.xml' + XML file parsed ok. + missing in XML file, 'Index Count Changed' emulated by counting oid_index entries + Executing SNMP walk for list of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3' Index Count: 8 + Index found at OID: '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.1' value: 'Physical memory' + Index found at OID: '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.3' value: 'Virtual memory' + Index found at OID: '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.6' value: 'Memory buffers' + Index found at OID: '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.7' value: 'Cached memory' + Index found at OID: '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.10' value: 'Swap space' + Index found at OID: '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.31' value: '/' + Index found at OID: '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.32' value: '/volume1' + Index found at OID: '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.33' value: '/opt' + index_parse at OID: '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.1' results: '1' + index_parse at OID: '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.3' results: '3' + index_parse at OID: '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.6' results: '6' + index_parse at OID: '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.7' results: '7' + index_parse at OID: '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.10' results: '10' + index_parse at OID: '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.31' results: '31' + index_parse at OID: '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.32' results: '32' + index_parse at OID: '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.33' results: '33' + Located input field 'index' [walk] + Executing SNMP walk for data @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3' + Found item [index='Physical memory'] index: 1 [from value] + Found item [index='Virtual memory'] index: 3 [from value] + Found item [index='Memory buffers'] index: 6 [from value] + Found item [index='Cached memory'] index: 7 [from value] + Found item [index='Swap space'] index: 10 [from value] + Found item [index='/'] index: 31 [from value] + Found item [index='/volume1'] index: 32 [from value] + Found item [index='/opt'] index: 33 [from value] + Located input field 'volsizeunit' [walk] + Executing SNMP walk for data @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.4' + Found item [volsizeunit='1024 Bytes'] index: 1 [from value] + Found item [volsizeunit='1024 Bytes'] index: 3 [from value] + Found item [volsizeunit='1024 Bytes'] index: 6 [from value] + Found item [volsizeunit='1024 Bytes'] index: 7 [from value] + Found item [volsizeunit='1024 Bytes'] index: 10 [from value] + Found item [volsizeunit='4096 Bytes'] index: 31 [from value] + Found item [volsizeunit='4096 Bytes'] index: 32 [from value] + Found item [volsizeunit='4096 Bytes'] index: 33 [from value] + Located input field 'volsize' [walk] + Executing SNMP walk for data @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.5' + Found item [volsize='1034712'] index: 1 [from value] + Found item [volsize='3131792'] index: 3 [from value] + Found item [volsize='1034712'] index: 6 [from value] + Found item [volsize='775904'] index: 7 [from value] + Found item [volsize='2097080'] index: 10 [from value] + Found item [volsize='612766'] index: 31 [from value] + Found item [volsize='1439812394'] index: 32 [from value] + Found item [volsize='1439812394'] index: 33 [from value] + Located input field 'volused' [walk] + Executing SNMP walk for data @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.6' + Found item [volused='1022520'] index: 1 [from value] + Found item [volused='1024096'] index: 3 [from value] + Found item [volused='32408'] index: 6 [from value] + Found item [volused='775904'] index: 7 [from value] + Found item [volused='1576'] index: 10 [from value] + Found item [volused='148070'] index: 31 [from value] + Found item [volused='682377865'] index: 32 [from value] + Found item [volused='682377865'] index: 33 [from value] AS you can see it appears to be returning the correct data. • Simulate SNMP traps to test surveillance

    - by jishi
I'm trying to use Net-SNMP on Windows to emulate a trap that should trigger an alarm on our surveillance system. This is the setup: Windows 7 client that sends the trap Net-SNMP as software for sending the trap Linux with Adventnet ManageEngine OpManager as NMS (not relevant) This is what I'm trying to accomplish send trap with OID .1.3.6.1.4.1.5089.1.0.1 (according to the MIB I have loaded into my NMS) and just some sort of message into it to see if I can get any alarm in my NMS. I can see that I actually send a trap in my firewall, but I have no idea what it contains. This is my attempt so far: snmptrap.exe -v 2c -c xxxxxxx 192.168.100.65 '' 6 0 .1.3.6.1.4.1.5089.1.0.1 s "123456" However, I can't seem to find any reasonable documentation with examples for snmptrap. Basically, I need to know what: '' <- why do I need this? I can omit it and it will still send a trap 6 <- Enterprise gneric trap, I assume. Is this correct? 0 <- I have no idea, I need some sort of value for this .1.3.6.1.4.1.5089.1.0.1 <- the enterprise specific OID I assume, should this be followed by some more numbers s <- indicates string "123456" <- just a random test-string... This doesn't make much sense to me, and if anyone can shed some light on this I would be very grateful.

  • How stable are Cisco IOS OIDs for querying data with SNMP across different model devices?

    - by Daniel Papasian
I'm querying a bunch of information from cisco switches using SNMP. For instance, I'm pulling information on neighbors detected using CDP by doing an snmpwalk on .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.23 Can I use this OID across different cisco models? What pitfalls should I be aware of? To me, I'm a little uneasy about using numeric OIDs - it seems like I should be using a MIB database or something and using the named OIDs, in order to gain cross-device compatibility, but perhaps I'm just imagining the need for that.

  • OpenID register on login (authlogic_openid)

    - by Glex
What is the proper way to register users automatically when they log in with openid? I am using authlogic with an authlogic-oid gem (and an older version of openid_authentication). The stuff I read online so far seems to be obsolete. Does anyone know the proper way to do it with the new gem? What I do now is: options = params[:user_session] || {} [:openid_identifier].each { |k| options[k] = params[k] if params[k] } @user_session = UserSession.new(options) @user_session.save do |result| if result flash[:notice] = "Login successful! (#{result.inspect})" redirect_back_or_default account_url else render :action => :new end end By the way, I don't see the Login Successful flash (but that is not that big of a deal).

  • Authlogic, logout, credential capture and security

    - by Paddy
Ok this is something weird. I got authlogic-oid installed in my rails app today. Everything works perfectly fine but for one small nuisance. This is what i did: I first register with my google openid. Successful login, redirection and my email, along with my correct openid is stored in my database. I am happy that everything worked fine! Now when i logout, my rails app as usual destroys the session and redirects me back to my root url where i can login again. Now if i try to login it still remembers my last login id. Not a big issue as i can always "Sign in as a different user" but i am wondering if there is anyway to not only logout from my app but also logout from google. I noticed the same with stack overflow's openid authentication system. Why am i so bothered about this, you may ask. But is it not a bad idea if your web apps end user, who happens to be in a cyber cafe, thinks he has logged out from your app and hence from his google account only to realize later that his google account had got hacked by some unworthy loser who just happened to notice that the one before him had not logged out from google and say.. changed his password!! Should i be paranoid? Isn't this a major security lapse while implementing the openid spec? Probably today someone can give me a workaround for this issue and the question is solved for me. But what about the others who have implemented openid in their apps and not implemented a workaround?

  • E-Business Integration with SSO using AccessGate

    - by user774220
Moving away from the legacy Oracle SSO, Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) came up with EBS AccessGate as the way forward to provide Single Sign On with Oracle Access Manager (OAM). As opposed to AccessGate in OAM terminology, EBS AccessGate has no specific connection with OAM with respect to configuration. Instead, EBS AccessGate uses the header variables sent from the SSO system to create the native user-session, like any other SSO enabled web application. E-Business Suite Integration with Oracle Access Manager It is a known fact that E-Business suite requires Oracle Internet Directory (OID) as the user repository to enable Single Sign On. This is due to the fact that E-Business Suite needs to be registered with OID to for Single Sign On. Additionally, E-Business Suite uses “orclguid” in OID to map the Single Sign On user with the corresponding local user profile. During authentication, EBS AccessGate expects SSO system to return orclguid and EBS username (stored as a user-attribute in SSO user store) in two header variables USER_ORCLGUID and USER_NAME respectively. Following diagram depicts the authentication flow once SSO system returns EBS Username and orclguid after successful authentication: Topic to brainstorm: EBS AccessGate as a generic SSO enablement solution for E-Business Suite AccessGate Even though EBS AccessGate is suggested as an integration approach between OAM and Oracle E-Business Suite, this section attempts to look at EBS AccessGate as a generic solution approach to provide SSO to Oracle E-Business Suite using any Web SSO solution. From the above points, the only dependency on the SSO system is that it should be able to return the corresponding orclguid from the OID which is configured with the E-Business Suite. This can be achieved by a variety of approaches: By using the same OID referred by E-Business Suite as the Single Sign On user store. If SSO System is using a different user store then: Use DIP or OIM to synch orclsguid from E-Business Suite OID to SSO user store Use OVD to provide an LDAP view where orclguid from E-Business Suite OID is part of the user entity in the user store referred by SSO System

  • Authlogic openid: getting undefined method openid_identifier? error in functional test

    - by usr
I use Authlogic with the Authlogic-openid addon (I gem installed ruby- openid and script/plugin install git://github.com/rails/open_id_authentication.git) and get two errors. First when running functional test, I get an undefined method openid_identifier? message on a line in my new.html.erb file when running the UsersControllerTest. The line is: <% if @user.openid_identifier? %> When running script/console I can access this method without any problem. Second when testing the openid functionality and registering a new user to my application using openid and using my blogspot account for that I get the following in my log file: Generated checkid_setup request to http://www.blogger.com/openid-server.g with assocication ... Redirected to http://www.blogger.com/openid-server.g?openid.assoc_handle=... NoMethodError (You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! The error occurred while evaluating nil.call): app/controllers/users_controller.rb:44:in `create' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/webrick/httpserver.rb:104:in `service' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/webrick/httpserver.rb:65:in `run' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/webrick/server.rb:173:in `start_thread' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/webrick/server.rb:162:in `start' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/webrick/server.rb:162:in `start_thread' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/webrick/server.rb:95:in `start' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/webrick/server.rb:92:in `each' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/webrick/server.rb:92:in `start' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/webrick/server.rb:23:in `start' /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/webrick/server.rb:82:in `start' The code in the users_controller is straight forward: def create respond_to do |format| @user.save do |result| if result flash[:notice] = t('Thanks for signing up!') format.html { redirect_to :action => 'index' } format.xml { render :xml => @user, :status => :created, :location => @user } else format.html { render :action => "new" } format.xml { render :xml => @user.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } end end end end The line giving the error being @user.save do |result|... I feel I'm missing something pretty basic but I have been staring at this for too long because I can't find what it is. I checked with the code on Railscasts episodes 160 and 170 and the bones GitHub project but found nothing. Thanks for your help, usr

  • Mibble MIB Parser - extracting comments from the mib.

    - by this.matt
I am using the Mibble MIB Parser to extract all simple data types from an MIB file. I've been successful until my attempt to extract comment text. Take the following module as an example: invBookList OBJECT-TYPE SYNTAX INTEGER { mobydick(1), -- call me ishmael paradiselost(2), -- aComment 1984(3), -- aComment solaris(4) -- aComment } MAX-ACCESS read-only STATUS current DESCRIPTION "A few Books for an example." ::= { invMasterList 43 } According to Mibble's API, the OBJECT-TYPE can be accessed by extracting an SnmpObjectType and then calling the appropriate getter method. Which I have done, and can successfully extract all of the text except the comments in the INTEGER syntax. I have tried calling getSyntax().getComment() on the SnmpObjectType, but always returns null. getSyntax() will extract the INTEGER syntax, e.g.: mobydick(1),paradiselist(2),1984(3),solaris(4) but unfortunately strips out the comments. Any one out there have experience with Mibble Parser who knows how to extract the comments? Many Thanks.

  • Authlogic OpenID: Fetching E-Mail from Provider.

    - by Shripad K
This is a really weird problem: I have set up the authlogic_openid_selector_example app. When i register, the email id is not returned by the openid provider the first time. But if i delete the account and register again, the email id is returned. But this doesn't seem to be happening in the example hosted here: http://big-glow-mama.heroku.com/. How do i fix this problem? Has this got to do with caching? I have hosted my version of the app here: http://pingauthtest.heroku.com/ I guess the author of authlogic_openid_selector_example app (@holden) has forgotten to commit new changes. :) I looked at my development log and the first time the provider doesn't return the openid.ext1.value.ext0 which contains the email id. This is returned the second time only after having deleted the account first. Edit: This is some extra info for debugging: THIS IS WHEN IT REGISTERS: OpenIdAuthentication::Association Load (5.3ms) SELECT * FROM "open_id_authentication_associations" WHERE ("open_id_authentication_associations"."server_url" = E'https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/ud') Generated checkid_setup request to https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/ud with assocication AOQobUde_9BUnQsk91rb_Sf9tguJ-S7Gpkwahc-nvDGDYAC8nphisNqu Redirected to https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/ud? openid.assoc_handle=AOQobUde_9BUnQsk91rb_Sf9tguJ-S7Gpkwahc-nvDGDYAC8nphisNqu &openid.ax.mode=fetch_request &openid.ax.required=ext0 &openid.ax.type.ext0=http%3A%2F%2Faxschema.org%2Fcontact%2Femail &openid.claimed_id=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select &openid.identity=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select &openid.mode=checkid_setup &openid.ns=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0 &openid.ns.ax=http%3A%2F%2Fopenid.net%2Fsrv%2Fax%2F1.0 &openid.ns.sreg=http%3A%2F%2Fopenid.net%2Fextensions%2Fsreg%2F1.1 &openid.realm=http%3A%2F%2Flocalhost%3A3000%2F &openid.return_to=http%3A%2F%2Flocalhost%3A3000%2Faccount%3Ffor_model%3D1%26_method%3Dpost%26open_id_complete%3D1 &openid.sreg.required=email Completed in 3574ms (DB: 14) | 302 Found [http://localhost/account] THIS IS WHEN IT USES SESSIONS: OpenIdAuthentication::Association Load (5.3ms) SELECT * FROM "open_id_authentication_associations" WHERE ("open_id_authentication_associations"."server_url" = E'https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/ud') Generated checkid_setup request to https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/ud with assocication AOQobUde_9BUnQsk91rb_Sf9tguJ-S7Gpkwahc-nvDGDYAC8nphisNqu Redirected to https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/ud? openid.assoc_handle=AOQobUde_9BUnQsk91rb_Sf9tguJ-S7Gpkwahc-nvDGDYAC8nphisNqu &openid.ax.mode=fetch_request &openid.claimed_id=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select &openid.identity=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0%2Fidentifier_select &openid.mode=checkid_setup &openid.ns=http%3A%2F%2Fspecs.openid.net%2Fauth%2F2.0 &openid.ns.ax=http%3A%2F%2Fopenid.net%2Fsrv%2Fax%2F1.0 &openid.ns.sreg=http%3A%2F%2Fopenid.net%2Fextensions%2Fsreg%2F1.1 &openid.realm=http%3A%2F%2Flocalhost%3A3000%2F &openid.return_to=http%3A%2F%2Flocalhost%3A3000%2Fuser_session%3Ffor_session%3D1%26_method%3Dpost%26open_id_complete%3D1 Completed in 2708ms (DB: 15) | 302 Found [http://localhost/user_session]

  • resolve snmp oids in perl

    - by Sec
Is there a simple way/module to map snmp(MIB) strings to OIDs in perl? E.g. I start with "sysUpTime.0" and get "1.3.6.1.2.1.1.3.0". As far as I can see, Net::SNMP expects you to have them already mapped.

  • Make Dell's OpenManage 6.2 information available through SNMP

    - by tronda
I have successfully installed OpenManage on a CentOS 5.4 server and I'm able to use OpenManage through the web interface running on port 1311, but I would like to be able to expose this information through the SNMP server. I don't know SNMP particularly well so the configuration is a result of trial and error. I've tried to follow the description pointed out in the Open Manage Server Administrator User Guide. I've followed the documentation regarding SNMP configuration, but without success. I've created a small snmpd.conf file: com2sec notConfigUser default public group notConfigGroup v1 notConfigUser group notConfigGroup v2c notConfigUser view systemview included .1.3.6.1.2.1.1 view systemview included .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.1.1 access notConfigGroup "" any noauth exact all all none view all included .1 rwcommunity public 10.200.26.50 syslocation "Somewhere" syscontact [email protected] pass .1.3.6.1.4.1.4413.4.1 /usr/bin/ucd5820stat smuxpeer .1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10892.1 When I try to fetch SNMP information by using snmpwalk I get the following output: SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = STRING: Linux myserver.test.com 2.6.18-164.15.1.el5 #1 SMP Wed Mar 17 11:30:06 EDT 2010 x86_64 SNMPv2-MIB::sysObjectID.0 = OID: NET-SNMP-MIB::netSnmpAgentOIDs.10 DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (1180389) 3:16:43.89 SNMPv2-MIB::sysContact.0 = STRING: [email protected] SNMPv2-MIB::sysName.0 = STRING: myserver.test.com SNMPv2-MIB::sysLocation.0 = STRING: "Somewhere" SNMPv2-MIB::sysORLastChange.0 = Timeticks: (0) 0:00:00.00 SNMPv2-MIB::sysORID.1 = OID: SNMPv2-MIB::snmpMIB SNMPv2-MIB::sysORID.2 = OID: TCP-MIB::tcpMIB SNMPv2-MIB::sysORID.3 = OID: IP-MIB::ip SNMPv2-MIB::sysORID.4 = OID: UDP-MIB::udpMIB SNMPv2-MIB::sysORID.5 = OID: SNMP-VIEW-BASED-ACM-MIB::vacmBasicGroup SNMPv2-MIB::sysORID.6 = OID: SNMP-FRAMEWORK-MIB::snmpFrameworkMIBCompliance SNMPv2-MIB::sysORID.7 = OID: SNMP-MPD-MIB::snmpMPDCompliance SNMPv2-MIB::sysORID.8 = OID: SNMP-USER-BASED-SM-MIB::usmMIBCompliance SNMPv2-MIB::sysORDescr.1 = STRING: The MIB module for SNMPv2 entities SNMPv2-MIB::sysORDescr.2 = STRING: The MIB module for managing TCP implementations SNMPv2-MIB::sysORDescr.3 = STRING: The MIB module for managing IP and ICMP implementations SNMPv2-MIB::sysORDescr.4 = STRING: The MIB module for managing UDP implementations SNMPv2-MIB::sysORDescr.5 = STRING: View-based Access Control Model for SNMP.
