It writes "variable tmpBrowser might not been initialized". If I comment the last line the compile does not complain.

    Hello all! I have an application consisting of two windows, one communicates to the other and sends it a struct constaining two integers (In this case two rolls of a dice). I will be using events for the following circumstances: Process a sends data to process b, process b displays data Process a closes, in turn closing process b Process b closes a, in turn closing process a I have noticed that if the second process is constantly waiting for the first process to send data then the program will be just sat waiting, which is where the idea of implementing threads on each process occurred and I have started to implement this already. The problem i'm having is that I don't exactly have a lot of experience with threads and events so I'm not sure of the best way to actually implement what I want to do. I'm trying to work out how the other process will know of the event being fired so it can do the tasks it needs to do, I don't understand how one process that is separate from another can tell what the states the events are in especially as it needs to act as soon as the event has changed state. Thanks for any help Edit: I can only use the Create/Set/Open methods for events, sorry for not mentioning it earlier.

  • How can I test potentially browser crashing javascript without having to restart my browser?

    I've been having a crack at some of the problems over at http://projecteuler.net/ with JavaScript. I've been using a simple html page and running my code in script tags so I can log my results in the browsers' console. When experimenting with loops I sometimes cause the browser to crash. Is there a better environment for me to do this kind of development in, or anything I can do to allow me to carry on testing in the browser?

This works except that I'm getting duplicate entries into my join table when creating a new event.   • Using boost asio for pub/sub style tcp in a game loop

    I have been reading through the boost asio documentation for a couple of hours now, and while I think the documentation is really great, I am still left a bit confused on how to implement the system that I need. I have to stream info, from a game engine, to a list of computers over tcp. One snag is that, unlike traditional pub/sub, the computer that does the distribution of info is actually the computer that has to connect to the subscribers as well (instead of the subscribers registering with the publisher). This is done via a config file - a list of ip's/ports along with the data that they each require. The subscribers listen, but do not know the ip of the publisher. (As a side note, I'm quite new to network programming, so maybe I'm missing something .. but it's strange that I do not find much information regarding this style of "inverted" client-server model..) I am looking for suggestions for the implementation of such a system using boost asio. Of course I have to integrate the networking into an already existing engine, so with regards to that: What would be a good way to handle messages being sent to multiple computers every frame? Use async_write, call io_service.run and then reset every frame? Would having io_service.run have its own thread be better? Or should I just use threads and use blocking writes?

I won't get into details tho.   • scanf segfaults and various other anomalies inside while loop

    while(1){ //Command prompt char *command; printf("%s>",current_working_directory); scanf("%s",command);<--seg faults after input has been received. printf("\ncommand:%s\n",command); } I am getting a few different errors and they don't really seem reproducible(except for the segfault at this point .<). This code worked fine about 10 minutes ago, then it infinite looped the printf command and now it seg faults on the line mentioned above. The only thing I changed was scanf("%s",command); to what it currently is. If I change the command variable to be an array it works, obviously this is because the storage is set aside for it. 1) I got prosecuted about telling someone that they needed to malloc a pointer* (But that usually seems to solve the problem such as making it an array) 2) the command I am entering is "magic" 5 characters so there shouldn't be any crazy stack overflow. 3) I am running on mac OSX 10.6 with newest version of xCode(non-OS4) and standard gcc 4) this is how I compile the program: gcc --std=c99 -W sfs.c Just trying to figure out what is going on. Being this is for a school project I am never going to have to see again, I will just code some noob work around that would make my boss cry :) But for afterwards I would love to figure out why this is happening and not just make some fix for it, and if there is some fix for it why that fix works.

  • Resize issue to fit dynamically with any browser size

    I'm trying to make full flash site dynamically resize in any browser size. If the browser gets smaller than the site MC should constrain to fit in the browser.   • Stupid newbie c++ two-dimensional array problem.

    I've no idea if this is too newbie or generic for stackoverlflow. Apologies if that's the case, I don't intend to waste time. I've just started working through C++ Primer Plus and I've hit a little stump. The rest of the code works fine: input is fine, individual yearly output is fine but I just can't get 3 years added together for one final total. I did have the total working at one point but I didn't have the individual totals working. I messed with it and reversed the situation. I've been messing with it for God knows how long. Any idea guys? Sorry if this isn't the place!

    I am very new to web development. I am currently using tablesorter jquery plugin to create a dynamic table, where the user can add and delete rows. I am having trouble with changing the background color of newly created rows upon clicking. It works fine with rows that are hard coded in html. Here is the relevant code: $(document).ready( function() { $('table.tablesorter td').click( function (event) { $(this).parent('tr').toggleClass('rowclick'); $(this).parent('tr').siblings().removeClass('rowclick'); }); } ) rowclick is a css class here: table.tablesorter tbody tr.rowclick td { background-color: #8dbdd8; } I have tried adding the following to my javascript function that adds a new row: var createClickHandler = function(newrow) { return function(event) { //alert(newrow.cells[0].childNodes[0].data); newrow.toggleClass('rowclick'); newrow.siblings().removeClass('rowclick'); }; } row.onclick = createClickHandler(row); The alert correctly displays the text in the first column of the row when I click the new row. In params I have only one element "name". And I'm not sure I should use extend method too.

    Hello all, I have a simple question that I am posing mostly for my curiousity. What are the differences between these two lines of code? (in C++) for(int i = 0; i < N, N > 0; i++) for(int i = 0; i < N && N > 0; i++) The selection of the conditions is completely arbitrary, I'm just interested in the differences between , and &&. I'm not a beginner to coding by any means, but I've never bothered with the comma operator. Are there performance/behavior differences or is it purely aesthetic? One last note, I know there are bigger performance fish to fry than a conditional operator, but I'm just curious. Indulge me. Edit Thanks for your answers. It turns out the code that prompted this question had misused the comma operator in the way I've described. I wondered what the difference was and why it wasn't a && operator, but it was just written incorrectly. I didn't think anything was wrong with it because it worked just fine.   • TextArea component is null on applicationComplete event

    I have a weird issue (weird because it is specific to one component) with applicationComplete in a fairly simple application. All the UI components are declared in MXML. I can access them all in applicationComplete, but not a spark.components.TextArea component, named taStatus here; it is null in the handler.   • Javascript onclick() event bubbling - working or not?

    I have a table in which the table row tag is decorated with an onclick() handler. If the row is clicked anywhere, it will load another page. In one of the elements on the row, is an anchor tag which also leads to another page. The desired behavior is that if they click on the link, "delete.html" is loaded. If they click anywhere else in the row, "edit.html" is loaded. The problem is that sometimes (according to users) both the link and the onclick() are fired at once, leading to a problem in the back end code. They swear they are not double-clicking. I don't know enough about Javascript event bubbling, handling and whatever to even know where to start with this bizarre problem, so I'm asking for help.
