• How to install windows without graphic's driver?

  My notebook's(Compaq Presario V5000) graphic card damaged last week and after that it will be restarted when I want to boot. So I tested it via windows live, and it booted from CD without any problem (as you know in win live, the graphic card doesn't recognize, and in setting of graphic card write : unknown ) Now my question : Is there anyway to install windows without any graphic driver please ?for example, Should I delete some installation files ?! PS : I tested Windows XP , VISTA and 7 but, when it goes to GUI installation restarted again :( Thanks for your help

• Group readable cron jobs a security risk?

  Hi, I was just wondering, is using a cron job that is group readable a security risk? In this case, the script is chmod 755, and the group is basically a group of the sysadmins on the machine. The permissions seem to be fine, but I'm just wondering whether it's a bad idea to keep this script in a group or world readable place because it's a backup script that needs to be run as root.   Hi! I'm using WinXP SP3 and HP LJ 1018. When I send 80 pages to pring as double side (directly or via FinePrint) only about 10 pages (at one side) are printed, I don't get any pages more and "Continue" button in double-side print dialog is disabled. Is it possible to fix it? Thanks!

• SCSI drives not showing up in Linux CentOS 4

  So I have a poweredge 6650 with Perc 3 installed. on the first channel of raid controller I have 2x 73gb configured in raid 1. On the second channel I have two 300GB drives that are stand alone. The two 300gb drives do not show up in linux, (no /dev/sdb*)... Can perc 3 support non-raid and raid drives combined? Is there any settings I may be missing? Thanks in advance :)

• Utility for scanning stacks of double-sided documents

  I have a simplex scanner with document feeder, and am looking for the best way to scan double-sided notes. It would be useful to be able to scan the same stack twice, once flipped, and have a utility automatically interleave the scanned images. Multi-page PDF export would also be nice. Is there a tool to do this? Otherwise, I'm considering writing it in Python, with the imagescanner module, if it can use the ADF -- http://pypi.python.org/pypi/imagescanner/0.9 Thanks

• Restarting nginx with Capistrano results in 502 Bad Gateway

  Here's what cap deploy does: sudo -p 'sudo password: ' -u root /var/rails_apps/fooapp/current/script/process/reaper reaper simply contains /etc/init.d/nginx restart When I run the same command from the shell, I do not get a 502--everything is fine. • "macros have been disabled" message in Word 2007 but no macros

  Hi there, I open a .doc file in Word 2007 (sorry I am unable to supply the .doc) which pops up with a message above the document "Security warning: Macros have been disabled" but there are no macros shown in the macros listing and no functionality displayed in the VBScript editor. Why does Word think this document contains macros and how can I remove them to prevent the warning? Thanks, Tom

I removed both sources php53.dotdeb.org from /etc/apt/sources.list and I did apt-get update && apt-get upgrade, but it didn't downgrade anything. • Quicksilver doesn't open PDF's like it used to

  I've been using Quicksilver for a while now but lately I've been getting this problem that QS doesn't show the Acrobat Reader icon when a PDF is selected, but goes to the "Open With" tab. See the screenshot here: http://skitch.com/niels.bom/n8nw5/google-reader-1000 Is this a bug? Or did I somehow bork a preference setting? I'm using QS B54, 3815, which is the latest AFAIK and Mac OS X 10.5.8. Thanks!

• Cannot copy non-latin characters from PDF document

  Hi, I have a pdf file which contains some non-latin european characters. If I copy some text with the highlight tool, and paste it into another program (word, notepad) - the 'special' characters do not transfer correctly (I get other odd characters in their place). I have tried copying the text from both Acrobat Reader and Foxit. Is there anything I can do here to copy this? Thanks
