  • SQL Server Management Studio not scripting all objects

    i've been attempting to script a database using SQL Server 2005 Management Studio. i cannot get it to script some objects. It scripts others, but skips some. i can provide detailed screen shots the options being selected including all tables the folder where the script files will go the folder being empty before scripting the scripting process saying Sucess when scripting a table the destination folder no longer empty, with a hundred or so script files the script of some tables not being in the folder. And earlier SSMS would not script some views. Is this a known thing that the the Generate Scripts task does not generate scripts? Update Known issue on Microsoft Connect, but Microsoft couldn't repro the steps, so they closed closed the ticket. Fails on SQL Server 2005, also fails on SQL Server 2008.     I am writing a powershell script to set up some HyperV VM's however there is one step I am having trouble automating. How do I check the box to allow Remote desktop access from the RemoteApp settings programmatically?     Hi everyone, I need to get all available info on 600 URLs from "Alexa Web Information Service", I downloaded the java tool and I'm able to run a single query each time with a single switch/Response Group. I would like to ask how to write a batch file that would automate the process?   • Server performance worsened after a hardware upgrade: how should I reconfigure the server?

    I'm running a site on an Ubuntu/Apache/Django/PostgreSQL stack. We upgraded our server recently from 1 processor with 2 Gb total RAM (with 0.5 Gb of that RAM assigned to memcached) to a new server that has 2 processors with 4 Gb total RAM (with 2 Gb of that RAM assigned to memcached). However, when I looked at Google Webmaster Tools, I found out that the average page speed has worsened from 5 seconds to 15 seconds. Why would performance get worse with a hardware upgrade? What should I check and tune? Is this more likely to be a problem with memcached, Apache, Django, or PostgreSQL?

  • How to reduce timeout for bad password on disconnected laptop?

    I use a Windows 7 laptop computer. When not attached to my AD domain, if I enter an incorrect password, I have to wait approximately a full minute before the failure response comes back. When attached to the domain, the response is instant. I think that what's happening is that is that when my entry fails against the cached pw, Windows tries to reach the domain controller and the timeout for that operation is about 60s. Is there a registry entry that controls the timeout? I'd love to reduce it.

  • Inexpensive Remote Assistance software?

    Any recommendations for Remote Assistance software that does not require firewall modification for clients? To assist client with software problems and perform training, we currently use a tool called Remote Helpdesk to connect to their computers and guide them through the process. This tool was pretty cheap (~$400 onetime for 3 support staff), and worked great - the client's PC actually initiates the connection to us, so there's never any firewall issues (vs. Remote Desktop, VNC software, or many other similar tools). Unfortunately, the product doesn't work well with 64-bit O/S's and Vista in general (slows down by a factor of 10 or so). I am looking for alternatives that provide the same reverse connection capabilities to avoid firewall issues. The only solution I've found is WebEx's Remote Support, which is WAY too expensive ($449/month for us). Thanks for all the assistance!

    Looking at our performance figures on our existing VMware ESXi 4.1 host at the Datastore/Real-time performance data Write Latency Avg 14 ms Max 41 ms Read Latency Avg 4.5 ms Max 12 ms People don't seem to be complaining too much about it being slow with those numbers. But how much higher could they get before people found it to be a problem? We are reviewing our head office systems due to running low on storage space, and are tossing up between buying a 2nd VM host with DAS or buying some sort of NAS for SMB file shares in the near term and maybe running VMs from it in the longer term. Currently we have just under 40 staff at head office with 9 smaller branches spread across the country. Head office is runnning in an MS RDS session based environment with linux ERP and mail systems. In total 22 VMs on a single host with DAS made from a RAID 10 made of 6x 15k SAS disks.

I've come across a few enterprise solutions including: http://apigee.com/ http://mashery.com/ http://www.layer7tech.com/ http://www.3scale.net/ The Apigee enterprise plan is exactly what I'm looking for but plans start at $3000 / month which is out of my price range. The other solutions are all either to expense or do not provide the solution I'm looking for. This led me to look at some open source options including: http://apiaxle.com/ https://code.google.com/p/varnish-apikey/wiki/UsageManual Varnish seems like a fairly complete solution, however I would need to build a GUI to visualise the data. My final option would to build a solution from scratch using EventMachine and ruby. Any advice?

    I'm trying to use stunnel to secure a legacy application's communications. I can't seem to get it setup and working. Can anyone provide any hints where I'm going wrong? Here's what I'm trying to accomplish: A windows service on a client machine connects to a server on port 7000 using TCP. I'd like to encrypt the communication between client and server. Here's what I've tried: Created a new server that accepts ssl connections on port 7443. Got a certificate for the server and installed it. That seems to work with my test setup. Installed stunnel on my windows machine (version 7.43 from the distribution archive file). Installed libssl32.dll and libeay32.dll in the same directory as stunnel.exe ( from the openssl-0.9.8h-1 binary distribution). Installed it as a service using "stunnel -install" Configured stunnel as follows: debug=7 output=C:\p4\internal\Utility\Proxy\proxy.log service=Proxy taskbar=no [exchange] accept=7000 client=yes connect=proxy.blah.com:7443 I changed my hosts file to trick the old application into connecting through stunnel: server.blah.com 127.0.0.1 # when client looks up server it goes to stunnel proxy.blah.com IP-address-of-server.blah.com # stunnel connects to new server "server.blah.com" now resolves to the machine it's running on (i.e. stunnel). "proxy.blah.com" goes to the real server. stunnel should connect to the server. I start the stunnel service and try to connect.   • Debugging UI Problems in IE8 (Was IE8 on Windows 7 Authentication Mess)

    UPDATE: I think the real question I need to ask here is: how does a technician debug UI problems with Internet Explorer, and not HTML rendering issues that have pretty good tools? I am aware of the SysInternals tools and others mentioned below, but maybe I am not harnessing their power properly. Someone else in the TechNet forum I mentioned had a similar issue. Again, I have lots of data, I am not sure how to properly interpret it. ORIGINAL POST: So I tried the venerable Technet Forums to solve this isse. In short, the Windows Security dialog has no place to put credentials, rendering pretty much useless. This happens to apply for a whole bunch of our intranet websites, and only a select number of users with a few laptops have this problem. It ends up looking like this. Things I have tried so far: Disabling local Group Policy (not domain connected) Disabling local Security Policy Resetting IE settings A few system restores Re-registering a bunch of IE DLL's and all other steps here Reinstalling IE8 (dism /online /disable-feature /featurename:"internet-explorer-optional-x86, reboot, dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:"internet-explorer-optional-x86, and reboot) And SFC scan, which found nothing Still, nothing. Not only am I fed up, but I have begun to really work with APIExplorer and Procmon as mentioned in the Technet original because I want to know WHAT is happening, not just fix it. Any thoughts?

  • lsass.exe memory leak on windows 2003 server

    In the past month or so I noticed that lsass.exe has started to leak memory, getting to 500MB+ of ram in under a week after reboot. Before this I had never noticed it using any significant amount of memory compared to other processes on the system. This is happening on 2 identical servers, neither of which has anything to do with Active Directory. Maybe a recent Windows Update has caused this? Any thoughts on things to check? As a side question is there some way to recycle the memory usage of lsass.exe without rebooting? Edit: Here is what I'm seeing in Process Monitor, there are thousands of registry open/query/close a minute from lsass.exe. How can I track down what is triggering these?

    I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 box running IIS7.5 with Medium Trust configured for ASP.NET. When I have the website running from local content (e.g.: c:\inetpub\wwwroot) everything works fine. When I change IIS to use a UNC path for the content (e.g.: \\computer\wwwroot) I get the following error: Security Exception Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file. Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. I'm trying to figure out why ASP.NET/IIS would allow for the SQL call when using local content but not when using a UNC path. Any ideas what I need to do to use a UNC path from IIS7 properly?

  • MySQL died during the night on a 12.04.1 Ubuntu

    I can't explain why, but somehow during the night, one of my MySQL running on an Ubuntu 12.04.1 box broke. The service is running but I can't login anymore (to SQL), the previous password is not working anymore. It does not looks like the server has been compromised (nothing in /var/auth.log) It looks like some automatic security upgrade (server is configured to perform those) has occured and broke something. The MySQL server has restarted a couple of times in the logs at the time errors started to happen (I get email when CRON task fail). In the logs it complains about an unset root password (I do have cron job running all day using SQL so the password was set & working for months). Anyway I can't login without password either! Do you have any idea of what could have happened? How do I get my databases back?     I've got a small SCCM 2012 deployment with about 35 clients attached. Most of these clients are in the same network as the single SCCM host, but three are about 1000 miles away. Oddly, these three clients have stopped being able to download some application packages over BITS. Publishing a new package works for all the other clients, but for these three it never seems to download. If I go to the software centre, it just hangs at "0% downloaded". The failed request log is large, but the punchline is that it chucks out a Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials. message. All clients are members of the same domain and appear to be (otherwise) working great. I've re-installed the SCCM client, deleted and re-added the computer to SCCM. Some other packages seem to work fine, the daily anti-malware delta gets downloaded and patched without issue. Why are these packages failing?

  • Can you use a USB hard drive in ESXI?

    I know that you can install ESXi 4.0 on a thumbdrive, but I was wondering if you could plug in an external harddrive to give extra storage to one of your VMs? We run a fileserver inside of ESXi that needs a space upgrade, but we're thinking of migrating to a different fileserver solution and would rather stick to external media to ease the later transition. edit: Ideally I'd like the drive to show up to the VM directly and not have ESXi control it, so that I could move it to a different machine and still have all of the data appear the same.

  • Apache -> redirect requests to PhpMyAdmin?

    I am seeing a lot of requests where users are trying to request PhPMyAdmin directory on my web-server and I would like to put an end to it. They try a few different directories like PhpMyAdmin-2.10 or just PhpMyAdmin or just PhpMyAdmin-2.09 Would Apache Re-write rule be the best thing to re0direct them to a blackhole that bans their IP from accessing the IP again? Or I could simply create these directories and put in a javascript redirect to black-hole them as well. Thoughts on a good solution are appreciated.
