  • Windows 7: blue faces in VLC... sometimes

    There are a bunch of forum posts about this issue from the last several years but no resolution that I could find. I have the newest VLC installed on Windows 7 with the newest nvidia drivers. Suddenly, VLC plays some videos in such a way as faces are blue. When viewed in another media player, or when looking at the thumbnails, this is not an issue. Other videos are not affected. I've tried resetting VLC options, deleting the VLC folder in the AppData area, etc. I have no other color issues. Does anyone have a fix?

    The idea is to start a video stream from one computer and watch it on another with the ability to start/stop the stream. I think I could do this with VLC but i haven't been able to figure out how. I've tried the following: (From the official forum) Stream with RTSP and RTP: on the server, run: % vlc -vvv input_stream --sout '#rtp{dst=192.168.0.12,port=1234,sdp=rtsp://server.example.org:8080/test.sdp}' on the client(s), run: % vlc rtsp://server.example.org:8080/test.sdp But this doesn't give me the ability to start/stop the stream from the client. According to the VLC release note something called "Trick play" was added in version 1.0. This seems to be what I'm looking for but i can't find any documentation that descibes how to use it.

  • VLC without border/window decoration in Windows

    I'm trying to run VLC (2.1, 64 bit) without any chrome on Windows 7. You can achieve it by going to Preferences, and in the Interface tab, unchecking Integrate video in interface, and also in the Video tab, unchecking Window decorations. The problem lies in the fact that without Window decorations there is no apparent way to move or resize the video window - in GOM player, for example, you can move window by dragging on the video itself; is there an option for this in VLC? Ideally, I would like to move the window by the method described above (by dragging the video), and would like the Window decorations to reappear on mouseover, to allow resizing; I'm a new VLC user, but unsure how far the customisation goes. - I'd settle with just the moving of the window via dragging the video if this is possible by advanced setting. There is a similar question here, but not exactly, and no solution to that particular question.

  • Fine control over zoom and aspect ratio in VLC player

    In VLC Player (v1.01), how do I zoom video and control aspect ratio with fine control, as is possible with Media Player Classic Home Cinema (MPCHC)? The standard zoom appears to only support double, normal, quarter size etc, not useful to me at all. An example: I play an older music video file that is in 4:3 aspect ratio. In MPCHC I can use the number pad to zoom in small increments until I have removed the left and right letterbox bars and the video fills the whole screen. I can also stretch and move the video in small increments until I am happy with the aspect ratio and position. I could continue using MPCHC, but I have two displays and really like VLC feature enabling full-screen video on the main screen and the VLC interface (menus etc) on the second. I have not found a way to do this on MPCHC, if anyone knows I'd also be interested to hear.

    As you can in this above image there are two windows of vlc player, I just want to get rid of the other vlc direct3d output window. VLC version is latest i.e. 2.0.1. If I change the video output to some other also; this thing doesn't change. Only the title changes i.e. now it is direct3d output then it will change to openGL or as per the selected output video option. This happens when I play *.mov files.

  • How to trim/cut clips with VLC

    I am running VLC 1.1.5 64-bit on Mac OS X 10.6.6. On the web I found instructions saying I should click on Video-Advanced Controls in the menu bar to reveal options that let me trim and cut video clips. However, there is no such option in my copy of VLC. What I want to do is cut a ~2 minute portion from the middle of a two hour footage (in MXF format that QuickTime can't open) that I've got. Is there another way to trim and cut clips of videos in VLC? Or should I use other (preferably free, Free, and open source) software? Thanks.

  • Using VLC to Unicast High Definition Webcam over local gigabit LAN with low/zero delay

    We're setting up a webcam "window" between two offices in the same buildilng. The two PC's are connected to the same gigabit switch. We're using VLC to stream the webcam over HTTP using the following commands. vlc dshow:// :dshow-caching="0" :dshow-size="640x480" :sout=#transcode{vcodec=h264,vb=0,scale=0}:http{mux=ffmpeg{mux=flv},dst=:8080/} :no-sout-rtp-sap :no-sout-standard-sap :ttl=1 :sout-keep vlc http://192.168.0.1:8080 :http-caching="0" Even with the caching set to zero, the delay in the image is a good 2-3 seconds. The CPU usage of each pc is also maxed. I'm guessing it's the transcoding that's causing much of the delay. Can anyone give me some changes to these command lines that will reduce the transcoding power, or send the webcam over a different protocol, or anything that will reduce the delay of the cameras? Bandwidth is not an issue at all as the pc's can be connected to a dedicated switch/vlan if required.

    I'm using VLC 2.0.8 on Windows 7. How do I play two mp3s simultaneously from the command line (command line because to write a batch script that launches the mp3s)? I've tried vlc 1.mp3 2.mp3 and vlc 1.mp3 --input-slave 2.mp3 (I've seen the second one as a way to play a video file and a separate audio file simultaneously). Both of these just launch 1.mp3. Not important, but if you're wondering, the mp3s are respectively cafe sounds and rain sounds, so I can play sounds similar to those found at http://rainycafe.com/ without having to launch a browser.

    I installed VLC player, because it works better that other video player on HD videos, but know I have an issue all most of my games (All of those using Bink Video, that means all Unreal Engine games, Call of duty, and more). When I load the game, I can hear the videos, the audio is working, so I know the videos is loading, but there is no image on the screen! Once I read that it was a known VLC issue with DivX or something like that, cant remember, does anyone, know a way to fix it? Thanks in advance

  • VLC (Server) re-stream Security Camera Feed

    I purchased a Swann Home Security DVR system and was hoping for some help on how to duplicate the streaming video on my server. In order to get their web view (streaming video in the browser) to work, I had to install the following plugins: HiDvrPlugin.dmg for mac. Hidvrocx.cab for Windows. I was originally thinking it was a sign of some form of DRM? Maybe. Maybe not. HTML wise, the following code is in the source of the safari version of the web view: <embed pluginspage="SurveilClient.dmg" width="10px" height="10px" type="application/x-scplugin" id="MacDiv" style="height: 592px; width: 720px; left: 278px; top: 61px; "> It seems to be the main display area. Using wireshark, I am able to see that the video stream is on port 9000. However, I have no idea what type of stream it is. I've tried opening it in VLC with no such luck. http://dvr_ip:9000 tcp://dvr_ip:9000 My hope was to do the following to redistribute the feed vlc dvr_ip:9000 --sout h264-version-on-localhost:3000 TLDR; Trying to re-distribute a stream from a security camera (can't tell the format) using vlc (re-distribute via h.264 / HTML5). Not sure how to accomplish this. Is it possible that the software has some type of DRM that only the plugins can decode?

  • VLC will sometimes have issues displaying video in fullscreen. What could cause this? How would I troubleshoot the issue?

    Recently VLC has been having issues displaying video in fullscreen mode. AFAIK, nothing has changed with the video card drivers and it's certainly the same version of VLC. (/me shakes a fist at the repository maintainers) This has worked without issue in the past. In fact, I've had as many as 6 instances of VLC running, each playing a video. One was always fullscreen on my second monitor, while the others were tiled on my primary monitor. I was able to toggle any of the other 5 into fullscreen mode and the video displayed without issue. Lately, I've been having trouble running 2 instances in fullscreen mode. (Sometimes, even a single instance will not display the video in fullscreen.) VLC will continue to play the video, but in fullscreen mode I see nothing but a black screen. Sometimes, the video will display if I maximize the VLC window. Other times, I have to settle for a smaller sized window. I don't know if this is pertinent, but sometimes changing the min/max state of a Firefox window (Minefield, specifically) seemed to allow the troublesome instance to display the video in fullscreen mode. However, that did not prove to be a consistent workaround. Sometimes, it seemed that closing a Firefox window did the trick, though that isn't consistently successful either. (I futzed with Firefox, because with the crazy number of windows and tabs that I normally have open, it regularly hogs about 1 GB of RAM.) Another bit of funkiness that comes to mind is the fact that my secondary monitor is considered the primary on boot-up. I use xrandr to designate the real 1st monitor as primary after boot-up, as suggested by someone in a question I asked on the Unix & Linux SE site. Specs: Ubuntu 10.10 w/ Gnome and Compiz 8GB RAM AMD Phenom II 965 Black Edition Asus M4A79 Deluxe mobo XFX ATI Radeon HD 5750 w/ 1GB RAM VLC is configured to use the hardware overlay for video (as per the default setting) Does anyone have an idea what may cause this issue or how I may go about troubleshooting it?     Hi! I want to use my old (1GHz) PC as webcam video stream server (like you can see those road cameras). I thought of using VLC and already tried using http output but it was not really good. Too cpu hungry, too big stream (kBps), not stable... I been reading VLC how-to's but thre is still a question. Which output should I use? Http, RTSP, UDP? I want to make for more than one computer at the same time (multicast). Which codec should be good? PC is not so fast so it shouldn't be too cpu hungry codec. Mpeg2, mpeg4, xvid? how much video buffer should I use (vb=?)? What about setting IP and ports? So I need some help with ideas, but if someone can make a VLC command line it's even better :) Oh, computer has direct internet connection and own IP.

    In my C# application i need to trigger some events when a VLC player (preferably) starts playback (a play button is pressed in VLC for example).Tried Windows Media Player classic with Microsoft Spy++ and observed messages that are sent when playback starts\repeats but i don't know how i could "catch" those messages in my C# code.So my question: is there any way to hook up to event in VLC (or WMP) and get notified about playback status (play, stop, start of repeat). My goal is to create a C# function that waits for start of playback event in player and then triggers some actions in my application (this should also happen when playback ends and starts repeating). What approach should i take here? Just to clearify: I don't want to embedded a new instance of VLC in my app, but instead control/read the "real" full version of VLC, started seperatly by the user

  • VLC - How to restore GUI?

    I was mucking around with VLC setting up an http interface and somehow I've managed to turn off the default GUI - which i believe is the Qt interface. So now when i start VLC i get the process showing up in TaskManager (Im on Win 7) but no GUI. How can i re-enable GUI without an uninstall|install? I don't want to do this because I want to keep mucking around with it and if i accidentally turn off the GUI again I don't want to have to go through some uninstall|reinstall loop. I thought it would just be a config file entry somewhere but do you think i can find it? The config file that is.

  • VLC - Adding to playlist

    I am using Songr to find/stream songs and double click them to play in VLC which basically "plays" the URL. But as I am listening to one item and search for another and double click another item from the results, it replaces the currently playing item in VLC. How do I set it up such that double clicking adds to the current playlist? When I see now is that it adds the new item to the end of the playlist and proceeds to play it. Any ideas? Thanks

I know that sample can contain bits from 8 , 16, 24 to 32 bits per sample. i want to get 8 bits per sample file how can this be done ?
