  Hi I start indexing DB articles with solr, but after add about 58 million article (and about 113 GB size of disk) , i get below error message on tomcat log error Note1: i already set Init memory pool to 256MB, and Max memory pool:1400MB to tomcat server.   We have .net application installed on production server. It is using .net FrameWork 3.0 on windows server 2003 with RAM 4 GB. But there is a problem in application while running sometimes it throws system out of memory exception. I am very frustrating with this. Also I am unable to simulate the issue. I had checked all the possibilities which can cause the problem but didn’t get any thing which solve the issue I checked on production server event log found the Out Of Memory Exception also INVALID VIEW STATE logs are there.   Hello all, I just created my own "Home" to replace the stock android one or Sense. All is working fine and I get all I want. My only problem is to replace to long press on home key ( that usually show the last 6 activities you launched) by my own launcher. • Rails App hangs after few requests

  I have Bitnami Rails stack installed on my Mac. To better explain my problem i created a simple scaffold based rails app with mysql as the backend. I can get to perform simple POST and GET requests for a while and after a few requests the app just hangs indefinitely. No exception caught or anything worthwhile in the development log to report this strange behavior.   Hi, We are running our cluster on Amazon EC2. we are using cloudera scripts to setup hadoop. On the master node, we start below services. 609 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop-daemon.sh start namenode' 610 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop-daemon.sh start secondarynamenode' 611 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop-daemon.sh start jobtracker' 612 613 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop dfsadmin -safemode wait' On the slave machine, we run the below services. 625 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop-daemon.sh start datanode' 626 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop-daemon.sh start tasktracker' The main problem we are facing is, hdfs safemode recovery is taking more than an hour and this is causing delays in our job completion. Below are the main log messages. 1. domU-12-31-39-0A-34-61.compute-1.internal 10/05/05 20:44:19 INFO ipc.Client: Retrying connect to server: ec2-184-73-64-64.compute-1.amazonaws.com/10.192.11.240:8020. Already tried 21 time(s). 2. The reported blocks 283634 needs additional 322258 blocks to reach the threshold 0.9990 of total blocks 606499. Safe mode will be turned off automatically. The first message is thrown in task trackers log because, job tracker is not started. job tracker didn't start because of hdfs safemode recovery. The second message is thrown during the recovery process. Is there something I am doing wrong? How much time does normal hdfs safemode recovery takes?   I can connect successfully to my database using tsql when I bypass the freetds.conf file, like so: % TDSVER=8.0 tsql -H 10.100.102.202 -p 1086 -U sa After I enter my password, I am presented with a 1> prompt, and it is ready for my commands. However, if I try to connect using the definition in my freetds.conf file, like this: % tsql -S Millie -U sa after entering my password, it seems to be trying to generate a prompt, but it just keeps counting. I will see 1, followed by 2, etc, without ever displaying a > character. Here is what I have for my freetds.conf: [global] # TDS protocol version tds version = 8.0 text size = 64512 [Millie] host = 10.100.102.202 port = 1086 What could be causing this anomaly? • iPhone SDK 3.0 and symbolicatecrash not getting along?

  * UPDATE * I've reinstalled with Snow Leopard, clean install. Completely wiped my existing Leopard install. Same problem persists. I've tried numbers of versions of symbolicatecrash to resolve symbols in my crash reports. From the version provided by Apple, to Alan's Quatermain's version posted on GitHub and finally from http://openradar.appspot.com/6438643. For whatever reason, the best results I can get is for symbols on my own libraries to get resolved. Normally, this is enough data to point me in the right direction -- other times it is not. With 2.x I had no problems getting the symbols for my code + Apple provided libraries from within the stack traces in each thread. Most likely an issue with my environment here, I'm not at all doubting the work that Apple or Alan have done. Yes I'm certain the dSYM I have stashed away is the same exact one that's generating the crash report. Although 'Foo' is me, and getting symbols from it is wonderful, I need to see symbols from the other functions in the stack to truly understand my reports. Note: For devices that crash running the app on iPhone OS 2.2.1, I have no problem getting all symbols. This is an iPhone OS 3.0 issue it appears.   We are moving a production site to EC2/RDS Followed these instructions: http://geehwan.posterous.com/moving-a-production-mysql-database-to-amazon I have set up row-based binary logging on the production server did a: mysqldump --single-transaction --master-data=2 -C -q -u root -p backup.sql then imported to RDS instance. No dramas. Due to the size of the db, and minimal downtime requirements, I've got to update the ec2 db to the latest datas via the binlogs, and it won't let me. mysqlbinlog mysql-bin.000004 --start-position=360812488 | mysql -uroot -p -h and it says: ERROR 1227 (42000) at line 6: Access denied; you need (at least one of) the SUPER privilege(s) for this operation My guess, based on what is on line 6 of the binlog, is that it's the 'write to the BINLOG' statements in the SQL backup, and because RDS doesn't support this, it can't run these statements, or something, I don't really know. Please help.

• Crawler do not create custom crawled properties

  These days i have faced with very strange problem. I have development environment with MOSS 2007 SP 2 and WS 2008, i have search configured and everything works great. I have started to configuring staging environment (MOSS 2007 SP2 with June CU) and create new farm and new SSP. I have deployed my changes with package (wsp) and manually create site collections, sub webs, pages and so on. When fill crawl finishes, i see in Crawl log that all my pages have been successfully crawled and when i use some test tools to query search, my pages have been found. In crawl log there is few errors like http://mysite/sites/de/pages "The crawler could not communicate with the server. Check that the server is available and that the firewall access is configured correctly..", but all pages in this Page library were indexed. The problem is that i use custom managed properties (mapped to custom crawled properties) in search queries, but crawler didn't create crawled properties for all my new site columns. For example for site column IsAccent the crawler didn't create cralwed property ows_isAccesnt. I'm sure that i have created pages for specific content type and all my crawl categories have checked "Automatically discover new properties when a crawl takes place ". In site settings - Searchable columns i haven't got any column selected as Nocrowl. I tried to export my managed and crawled properties from dev environment to stage evironment but all my managed properties were empty, after that i recreated SSP...the result was the same... I checked specific page with tools like Sharepoint Manager 2007 and U2U Caml Query Builder 2007 that content type is correct, and i can see values of my custom site collumns.... Using U2U Caml Query Builder 2007 agains some Page library in Result tab i can see ows_IsAccent (my site collumn is IsAccent) and others site columns, but i can't find them in Crawled properties. Any idias?

• Problem upgrading eclipse rcp app from 3.3 to 3.5 on Mac OS

  I previously had an eclipse rcp app based on eclipse 3.3 pugins deployed on both windows and mac OS X 10.4. i'm now trying to port the app to java 1.6 and eclipse 3.5 (Build id: 20100218-1602) plugins on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard). I can launch the product from eclipse 3.5 on windows but not on Mac OS X. I have the 64bit cocoa eclipse IDE and java 6. In the launch configuration I set runtime JRE to JVM 1.6.0 and added required plugins. • Asterisk Manager API SIPPeers - Permission Denied

  I'm wanting to use the asterisk manager api to show the status of all my SIP lines in a PHP web interface. I thought I'd start simple and use telnet to see it working. So I created a user in /etc/asterisk/manager.conf [portal] secret = password read = all,system,call,log,verbose,command,agent,user Then telnet to localhost on port 5038 This is what I get. asterisk ~ # telnet localhost 5038 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. Asterisk Call Manager/1.0 Action: login Username: portal Secret: 8u9sdgk Events: off Response: Success Message: Authentication accepted Action: SIPPeers Response: Error Message: Permission denied Why am I getting permission denied? I thought the user has basically full access? Do I need to restart asterisk to make this work? I didn't restart it. On the other hand, I was able to log in which makes me think that the manager.conf has been reloaded as the portal user didn't exist before. Any ideas?

  Hi, created an Eclipse plugin that contributes to the UI by a new project wizard a new menu in the context menu of projects in the Package Explorer a new project nature + builder a new preference page for the plugin The plugin works fine when installed in a normal Eclipse instance with Flex/Flashbuilder as plugin. The problem now is, that the plugin never gets activated when i install it in a Flex/Flashbuilder Standalone instance. Neither of the features described above is available. I've tried adjusting CMSMaxAbortablePrecleanTime to 15 seconds, from the default of 5, but that has not helped. The current JVM options are as follows... I read through http://blogs.sun.com/jonthecollector/entry/did_you_know which had a suggestion of enabling CMSScavengeBeforeRemark, but the side effects of pausing did not seem ideal. Could anyone offer up any suggestions? Also I was wondering if anyone had a good reference for grokking the CMS GC logs, in particular this line: [1 CMS-remark: 16015K(393216K)] 71979K(511232K), 0.0746640 secs] Not clear on what memory regions those numbers are referring to.

• Static factory pattern with EJB3/JBoss

  I'm fairly new to EJBs and full blown application servers like JBoss, having written and worked with special purpose standalone Java applications for most of my career, with limited use of JEE. I'm wondering about the best way to adapt a commonly used design pattern to EJB3 and JBoss: the static factory pattern. In fact this is Item #1 in Joshua Bloch's Effective Java book (2nd edition) I'm currently working with the following factory: public class CredentialsProcessorFactory { private static final Log log = LogFactory.getLog(CredentialsProcessorFactory.class); private static Map<CredentialsType, CredentialsProcessor> PROCESSORS = new HashMap<CredentialsType, CredentialsProcessor>(); static { PROCESSORS.put(CredentialsType.CSV, new CSVCredentialsProcessor()); } private CredentialsProcessorFactory() {} public static CredentialsProcessor getProcessor(CredentialsType type) { CredentialsProcessor p = PROCESSORS.get(type); if(p == null) throw new IllegalArgumentException("No CredentialsProcessor registered for type " + type.toString()); return p; } However, in the implementation classes of CredentialsProcessor, I require injected resources such as a PersistenceContext, so I have made the CredentialsProcessor interface a @Local interface, and each of the impl's marked with @Stateless. Now I can look them up in JNDI and use the injected resources. But now I have a disconnect because I am not using the factory anymore. My first thought was to change the getProcessor(CredentialsType) method to do a JNDI lookup and return the SLSB instance that is required, but then I need to configure and pass the proper qualified JNDI name. Before I go down that path, I wanted to do more research on accepted practices. How is this design pattern treated in EJB3 / JEE?

• Help using mod_jk to forward to backend app server

  I had mod-jk working a while ago but after switching servers and modifying some files, it no longer works. I am using mod_jk-1.2.28 with JBoss 4.2.3 as the backend. In the JBoss server.xml file I have the AJP 1.3 connector defined on port 8009 and I am binding jboss to the server's new IP address. The app I am trying to forward to is deployed as: [TomcatDeployer] deploy, ctxPath=/ManualAlerts, warUrl=.../tmp/deploy/tmp8097651929280250028ManualAlertsApp.ear-contents/ManualAlerts-exp.war/ On the web server, I have worker.properties with a worker set for the JBoss address and port 8009. The mod-jk.conf has JkMount /ManualAlerts/* worker1. Shouldn't this forward all requests to the web server with the URL http://address/ManualAlerts/ to the backend app named ManualAlerts? In the mod-jk.log it shows connect to (XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:8009) failed, and the app-server address is correct here, too. I cannot figure out what's causing the issue.

• Android RestTemplate Ok on emulator but fails on real device

  I'm using spring RestTemplate and it works perfect on emulator but if I run my app on real device I get HttpMessageNotWritableException ............ nested exception is java.net.SocketException: Broken pipe Here is some lines of my code(keep in mind my app works perfect on emulator) ............ LoggerUtil.logToFile(TAG, "url is [" + url + "]"); LoggerUtil.logToFile(TAG, "NetworkInfo - " + connectivityManager.getActiveNetworkInfo()); ResponseEntity<T> responseEntity = restTemplate.exchange(url, HttpMethod.POST, requestEntity, clazz); ............. I know my device's network works perfect because all other applications on my device are working and also using device browser I'm able to connect to my server so my server is available. My server is up and running and my device is able to connect to my server so why I get java.net.SocketException: Broken pipe ?!!!!!!! Before I call restTemplate.exchange() I log NetworkInfo and it looks ok -type: WIFI -status: CONNECTED/CONNECTED -isAvailable: true Thanks in advance. • SQL Server slow in production environment

  I have a weird problem in a customer's production environment. I can't give any details on the infrastructure, except that SQL server runs on a virtual server. The data, log and filestream file are on another storage server (data and filestream together and log on a separate server). In our local Test environment, there's one particular query that executes with these durations: first we clear the cache 300ms (First time it takes longer, but from then on it's cached.) 20ms 15ms 17ms In the customer's production environment, the SQL Server is more powerful, these are the durations (I didn't have the rights to clear the cache. Will try this tomorrow). 2500ms 2600ms 2400ms The servers in the customer's production environment are more powerful but they do have virtual servers (we don't). What could be the cause... Not enough memory? Fragmentation? Physical storage? How would you tackle this performance problem? EDIT: Some people have asked me if the data set is equal and it is. I restored their database on our environment. It's true that this was the first thing I looked at. (@Everyone: I added the edit because it will be the first thing that many will think off).

• How to find and diagnose poorly-performing Firefox addins?

  I use a lot of addins in my Firefox. One of them is causing periodic freezes when watching video. Super annoying. Aside from doing a binary search of disabling addins to narrow down the problem (which would take a very long time due to frequency of the freezes), are there any other options? If the problem came from the native app, then I'd just load up a profiler and see where the time is going. But it's all in Javascript. Are there any tools that exist to help figure this out? Maybe some instrumentation I can throw on a few key source files in a local build to help diagnose the problem?
