• NSDocument Subclass not closed by NSWindowController?

  Okay, I'm fairly new to Cocoa and Objective-C, and to OOP in general. As background, I'm working on an extensible editor that stores the user's documents in a package. This of course required some "fun" to get around some issues with NSFileWrapper (i.e. a somewhat sneaky writing and loading process to avoid making NSFileWrappers for every single document within the bundle). The solution I arrived at was to essentially treat my NSDocument subclass as just a shell -- use it to make the folder for the bundle, and then pass off writing the actual content of the document to other methods. Unfortunately, at some point I seem to have completely screwed the pooch. I don't know how this happened, but closing the document window no longer releases the document. The document object doesn't seem to receive a "close" message -- or any related messages -- even though the window closes successfully. The end result is that if I start my app, create a new document, save it, then close it, and try to reopen it, the document window never appears. With some creative subclassing and NSLogging, I managed to figure out that the document object was still in memory, and still attached to the NSDocumentController instance, and so trying to open the document never got past the NSDocumentController's "hmm, currently have that one open" check. I did have an NSWindowController and NSDocumentController instance, but I've purged them from my project completely. I've overridden nearly every method for NSDocument trying to find out where the issue is. So far as I know, my Interface Builder bindings are all correct -- "Close" in the main menu is attached to "performClose:" of the First Responder, etc, and I've tried with fresh unsullied MainMenu and Document xibs as well. I thought that it might be something strange with my bundle writing code, so I basically deleted it all and started from scratch, but that didn't seem to work. I took out my init method overrides, and that didn't help either. I don't have the source of any simple document apps here, so I didn't try the next logical step (to substitute known-working code for mine in the readfromurl and writetourl methods). I've had this problem for about sixteen hours of uninterrupted troubleshooting now, and needless to say, I'm at the end of my rope. If I can't figure it out, I guess I'm going to try the project from scratch with a lot more code and intensity based around the bundle-document mess. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Java Annotations in eclipse Tooltip?

  Is anyone aware of an eclipse plugin that updates the tooltip on hover over a method/class to include annotation information? There a few libraries we are using that have annotated methods and it would be handy if I could hover over the method and see what has been applied. I realize this would only work with annotations that have been retained but that is good enough.

• Export multiple values from a single Combo Box? (Adobe Acrobat)

  I'm trying to export 2 values from every single item from the combo box field. I have found two methods to insert items into a combo box: 1) insertItemAt http://www.verypdf.com/document/acrobat-forms-javascript/pg_0048.htm 2) setItems http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9/Acrobat9_HTMLHelp/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=Acrobat9_HTMLHelp&file=JS_API_AcroJS.88.748.html but neither method allows two parameters (im always get "missing ) after argument list" error from the Acrobat JavaScript Debugger) Does anyone know of a better solution for this problem? • How to serialize object containing NSData?

  I'm trying to serialize an object containing a number of data fields...where one of the fields is of datatype NSData which won't serialize. • Built-in precedence in Expression Trees for math?

  I'm unable to find the .NET FCL built-in concept of precedence to leverage while constructing Expression Trees. Ref System.Linq.Expressions Namespace. Is this something that must be handled manually in code, or is it somehow implicit and I'm not recognizing it (e.g. maybe through helper methods or classes)? I want to apply it to math operations to ensure 3 + 5 * 10 results in 53 instead of 80.

• Run a .java file using ProcessBuilder

  I'm a novice programmer working in Eclipse, and I need to get multiple processes running (this is going to be a simulation of a multi-computer system). My initial hackup used multiple threads to multiple classes, but now I'm trying to replace the threads with processes. From my reading, I've gleaned that ProcessBuilder is the way to go. I have tried many many versions of the input you see below, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to properly use it. I am trying to run the .java files I previously created as classes (which I have modified). I eventually just made a dummy test.java to make sure my process is working properly - its only function is to print that it ran. My code for the two files are below. Am I using ProcessBuilder correctly? Is this the correct way to read the output of my subprocess? Any help would be much appreciated. Now I need to access the Data of my object. Problem is that i can't cast the object, since i don't know exactly to which closed TestGeneric.   Hi., I have an existing wizard template created for VC++ from year back, ported to VS2008. It uses the custom wizard jscript/html templating system and DTE object. I've used this successfully for years, but now I want to create an entry for a standard C# project, I see there's no way to customise the C# project settings - the methods are for VC++ only. Is there something closely related to this for C# projects (or do I have to learn yet another way of creating a wizard for .net apps?)

  In silverlight, how do I create a usercontrol whose parent must be of a specific control? Eg. I create control Foo, Foo can only be a child of control FooParent. If in blend, they drag it to inside anything except for a FooParent control, it throws error. Foo should then be able to access properties and public methods of FooParent. Is there an official way to accomplish this?

  What's the easiest way of doing simple pattern matching a la .something.com something.com/ something.com/somefolder/*.jpg in the iPhone SDK? At this point it looks like I'm going to have to use a regular expression library of some sort, which is really overkill when all I need is simple wildcard matching. None of the standard NSString methods seem to be available on the iPhone.

  I'm trying to display the Baseline Start, Finish, Cost, and Work values for a ResourceAssignment, but cannot seem to find any methods on the ResourceAssignment object that would provide this information. Anybody know if this is possible? I know the information is stored because I can see it in MS Project, and I can see it in the XML version of the project file. • Cannot run a JUnit test case containing threads from Eclipse

  I am running JUnit test case from Eclipse 3.4.1 . This test case creates a class which starts a thread to do some stuff. When the test method ends it seems that Eclipse is forcibly shutting down the thread. If I run the same test from the command line, then the thread runs properly. Somehow I do not remember running into such problems with Eclipse before. Is this something that was always present in Eclipse or did they add it in 3.4.x ? Here is an example: When I run this test from Eclipse, I get a few printts of the cnt (till about 1800) and then the test case is terminated utomatically. • WMI: Editing the Registry Remotely

  I'm trying to use the following code (poorly written, but it's just a proof of concept) to edit the registry of a computer on a domain. I have a domain account, and I've verified that the domain admin group is present in the local admin group on the machines I'm attempting to affect. I've connected to these other machines to perform other administrative type tasks, so I'm sure that I have administrative privileges on these hosts. All of StdRegProv's "get" methods work fine (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa393664%28VS.85%29.aspx) but the "set" or "create" methods as well as check access all return "5" which is "Error_Access_Denied" according to winerror.h. So there's the problem: why do I get access denied when attempting to modify the registry? If anyone can help me figure this out, you'd have my utmost appreciation! I almost forgot, when I fire up Visual Studio in admin mode on my local machine and run the code against the local machine, it works flawlessly. But not their header. The header of both classes gets painted as yellow with EclEmma. Is there anything I can do to fully cover the class header?
