  • Repeater in Repeater

    I have a repeater inside a repeater. Where the parent repeater is bound to a Datable which has a column with a Datatable in it. I would like to bind the child repeater to the datatable column in the parent repeater's datarow Is this possible? i was thinking i could do this directly in the aspx file like: DataSource="<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Products")%" but it doesn't seem to work.

  • How Gridview co-operates with ObjectDataSource?

    Hi, how Gridview co-operates with ObjectDataSource internally? When you set DataSourceID of GridView, assigned ObjectDataSource take care of such things as paging and sorting, but i don't have full control above databinding itself, on the other side when i set datasource of gridview in code-behind: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!IsPostBack) { testGridView.DataSource = testObjectDataSource.Select(); testGridView.DataBind(); } } Now i have full control, but i have lost the advantage of comfort sorting and paging. And that co-operation between ObjectDataSource and Gridview became mystery for me. So can anybody explain me in details how ObjectDataSource and Gridview co-operates under the hood? I want to understand it in order to write my own smart code or own gridview that will mimic this co-operation. Many thanks for answers.

  • JQuery, ASCX and webmethods not seems to be working

    Hi all, I have a cascading dropdown (3 of them) Type, Categories and Sub Categories. Type loads first and upon selection of Type, Category load and selection of Category, Sub Category loads. Also i have 2 buttons, "Add Category" and "Add Sub Category" Upon clicking on these buttons, i call a JQuery Modal Form to add them. I use Webmethod in code behind to add them to database This works perfectly in ASPX page. Since I need use this in 3-4 pages, i thought of making the above as User control (ASCX). When i try to use this in a webpage, the webmethods in ASCX don't get called. Is my approach correct? what should be done for my scenario lOoking forward for your suggestions.   • Javascript window.onunload fires off after Page_Load

    I have noticed that window.onunload event fires off AFTER page_load event which makes no sense. This behaviour is creating an issue for me - in my unonload I clear the session, so if the Page_Load first BEFORE onunload, there are errors on the page displayed. I would expect the javascript onunload to fire BEFORE Page_Load....is that the correct assumption? TO CLARIFY: Let's assume I am on page test.aspx, then I click on the link that goes to the same page (say I click on a menu), what I observe is that Page_Load fires first, then onunload fires off. Makes no sense at all.

    How do you cache an aspx page call on the client? The aspx page returns an asset and looks like this: http://srv-edu-build/edumatic3/dev/RetrieveBlob.aspx?assetId=31809&assetFileId=9823 We have tried with Output Cache, with caching in the code behind, but the only result we get is server side caching (by IIS7). In the header of the response cache-control is set to public and expiration time is set (to 14800 as set in output cache profile).

Could not find file 'obj\Debug\SMIT.SysAdmin.BusinessLayer.Resources.resources'. SMIT.SysAdmin.BusinessLayer Going to the Project Properties-Resource tab, I see that I defined do resources. Still, I tried to delete the resource file and recreate by going to the resource tab. When I recompile, I still get the same error. Any suggestions of things to try?

  • Linq to SQL Error with Many-to-Many table

    I am getting the following error with linq-to-sql when I try to access a many-to-many collection: Members 'Int32 XXX' and 'Int32 YYY' both marked as IsPrimaryKey and IsDbGenerated. The statement is true, in that both of those columns are primary key integers with identity insert. The table I am trying to access has a foreign key to both YYY and ZZZ, and then ZZZ has a foreign key to XXX. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with my data structure. I tried setting "Child Property" to false on the ZZZ-YYY relationship, but it didn't change anything.

    I ran into an error when trying to serialize a linq entitySet. To get around this i converted the entitySet to a list. The problem I have run into now is that it's child entity sets are not converting to a list and when I try to serialize the parent those are now throwing an error. Does anyone know of a way to convert a linq entitySet AND it's children to lists? p.s. I'm new to linq so if any of this dosn't make sense let me know

    My master page has a contentplaceholder in the head tag. Because I want my page's title to represent the function of the current page and because I want the title to be translated in the user's language I have added a title tag in the page's head's contentplaceholder. All jolly and good except that now there appears a second, empty title tag that off course isn't valid. Any ideas how to solve this?

    Hi, I know its unlikely but I was wondering if there is any way to get the comments (i.e. the bits after the ''') of a class or property..? I have managed to get a list of properties of a class using the PropertyInfo class but I cant find a way to get the comments / description.. I need it for a guide I am writing for the administrators of my site - it would be great if it could automatically update if new properties are added, so there is no need to worry about updating it in the future too much.     I'm considering using an ObjectDataSource as an intermediate between my page controls and my data access layer & object model. Traditionally I have manually created the object and populate it via a series of findcontrol statements when I need to insert/update data in the database. I'm hoping that I can use the ObjectDataSource to marshal data between my object and my controls, eliminating that manual code, as long as the ObjectDataSource doesn't come with a lot of overhead. I noticed the EnableCaching property, where does the caching occure? is it in view state?

    I'm trying to implement a simple Ajax update using MVC and have run into an issue. My understanding of how to implement Ajax with MVC is to use an Ajax.ActionLink which allows the content to be updated based on user interaction. I have an Ajax.ActionLink that looks like the following: <%= Ajax.ActionLink("Call Ajax", "Ajax", new AjaxOptions{UpdateTargetId = "updateDiv"}) %> If, in the controller, I return a string it works fine. However, when returning a PartialView instead, nothing happens. I can step through and verify that the controller is "returning" the partial view but nothing shows up in what I'm calling the updateDiv. How can I go about determining what the problem is?

  • Tablesorter, Color rows depending on an specific value

    Hi all, I've been looking around for a solution to this thing but I haven't found anything similar to what I'm looking for. The thing is that I've got a table filled with data from a database, and what I want is to change the background colour of an specific row depending on a value of the class I'm loading in each row. The thing is that I have to display some data but as the fields to be displayed are quite a lot, I don't have more space to show an status field, so I would like to show the row in red if the status is inactive, and the rest of the rows in the normal color of the blue stylesheet. Is there a way to do that through tablesorter? I'm opened to suggestions, as I'm not sure how to do it. Thank you all in advance, Victor

  • Themeing and Master Pages

    I have the requirement to support themeing of my site's pages. The way I am doing this is by dynamically choosing a master page based on the current theme. I have setup a directory structure like so /shared/masterpages/theme1/Master1.master /shared/masterpages/theme1/Master2.master /shared/masterpages/theme1/Master3.master /shared/masterpages/theme2/Master1.master /shared/masterpages/theme2/Master2.master /shared/masterpages/theme2/Master3.master And I am still using the page directive in the view <%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/shared/masterpages/theme1/Master1.Master"%> I would still like to leverage the view's MasterPageFile property and just change the theme directory. I can only think of three ways to do this none of them which sound great. Create a custom BaseView class that uses OnPreInit to change the theme like this Create some xml file or database table that links each view to a master page file and then set this in the controller. Build some tool that reads all the views and parses them for their masterpagefile, (similar to 2 but could be done at run time potentially.) Option 1 seems the best option to me so far. Does anyone else have any thoughts on how to do this?
