  • Output Caching with IIS7 - How To for an dynamic aspx page?

    I have a RetrieveBlob.aspx that gets some query string variables and returns an asset. Eeach url corresponds to a unique asset. In the RetrieveBlob.aspx a Cache Profile is set. In Web.Config the profile looks like (under system.web tag: <caching> <outputCache enableOutputCache="true" /> <outputCacheSettings> <outputCacheProfiles> <add duration="14800" enabled="true" varyByParam="*" name="AssetCacheProfile" /> </outputCacheProfiles> </outputCacheSettings> </caching> Ok, this works fine. When I put a breakpoint in the code behind of RetrieveBlob.aspx, it gets triggered the first time, and all the other times not. What am I doing wrong? Is it possible to configure under Caching tag of System.WebServer a Caching Profile for a Dynamic aspx page?     am having Some kendoui listviews which consists of kendoui dropdown lists and i want to get those dropdown list selected values. To do this am trying, $("#cnty1").val(); and here is my dropdownlist,i.e., list of countries coming from Database table, <input select STYLE="width:90px;height:auto" id ="cnty1" data-bind="value:cnty1" name="cnty1" data-type="string" data-text-field="cnty" data-value-field="cntyid" data-source="sourcedata1" class="k-d" data-role="dropdownlist" /> <span data-for="cnty1" class="k-invalid-msg"></span> here cnty1 is the id of the dropdown list, but am not getting the value instead am getting "id" of the slected value but not the selected value. And also if the value is not selected am getting the first value id by using $("#cnty1").val(); So, please suggest me a solution so that, 1) I should get only the Selected value and 2) Value of the dropdown list Only if the user selects a value from the list, but don't get the value of the list without selecting.

    Hi there, I need to apply validation on input time intervals that are taken in as seconds. Now i am not really good at Regular expressions. So can any body help making a regular expression that can test whether a number is divisible by 60. I was wondering if i could use to test one that check that the number is divisible by 10 and then check whether the same is divisible by 6. For number divisible by 10 here [\d*0] is the expression i guess. Please correct me if i am wrong. Hope somebody solves my problem. Thanks

So, for example, when the site is sitting at the home page, the menu link would render like this: <li><a class="current" href="/">Home</a></li> Do I have to overload the ActionLink method to do this, or create an entirely new HtmlHelper, or is there a better way? Without the script tags it works. But we need the script tags cause we need to template in JavaScript. Hardcoded it works, but we need to use a variable because this will not always be a template. Without the @if it works, but it's there, we need it.   • Custom Validation Attribute with Custom Model Binder in MVC 2

    I apologise for the amount of code I have included. I've tried to keep it to a minimum. I'm trying to have a Custom Validator Attribute on my model as well as a Custom Model binder. The Attribute and the Binder work great seperately but if I have both, then the Validation Attribute no longer works. Here is my code snipped for readability. If I leave out the code in global.asax the custom validation fires but not if I have the custom binder enabled.     I am using shanselmann's MvcMockHelper class to mock up some HttpContext stuff using Moq but the issue I am having is being able to assign something to my mocked session object in my MVC controller and then being able to read that same value in my unit test for verification purposes. My question is how do you assign a storage collection to the mocked session object to allow code such as session["UserName"] = "foo" to retain the "foo" value and have it be available in the unit test.

    I have a button on my .aspx interstitial page. When I click it the onClick event fires off and it does a bunch of validations in the code. I have a javascript function that I need to call/run AFTER these validations are performed. This javascript function closes the interstitial page. How can I call the javascript function from my C# code? I've tried adding a script manager and a client script but neither work. What else besides these two options do I have?     I'm curious why only some System.Web.UI.WebControl controls implement certain interfaces when they have the same properties of an interface. For instance, there are plenty of controls that have a Text property but only the following implement ITextControl: Label Literal DataBoundLiteral TextBox ListControl (TextBox and ListControl actually implement IEditableTextControl which implements ITextControl) TableCell, Button, HyperLink and others don't so I have to write code like this ITextControl textControl = control as ITextControl; TableCell tableCell = control as TableCell; if (textControl != null) { textControl.Text = value; } else if (tableCell != null) { tableCell.Text = value; } instead of this control.Text = value; Was this a design decision or an oversight?

Because if I delete it, the code that call this method cannot use the IQueryable (perhaps because of deferred execution?). How to force immediate execution to this method? So I can dispose the data context.. Thank you :D

    This is just another "working in dev server, why not working in IIS" type question. So, I created a nice DAL using NHibernate as described here. When creating an ISession, I hook up an event handler to the HttpApplication.EndRequest to take care of cleaning it up. However, I deployed my site to IIS and it says: Event handlers can only be bound to HttpApplication events during IHttpModule initialization. Since when? What for? Why? How can I bypass it?

    I recently received a project that contains multiple web applications with no MVC structure. For starters I've created a library (DLL) that will contain the main Business Logic. The problem is with Caching - If I use the current web context cache object than I might end up with duplicate caching (as the web context will be different for every application). I'm currently thinking about implementing a simple caching mechanism with a singleton pattern that will allow the different web sites (aka different application domains) to share their "caching wisdom". I'd like to know what is the best way to solve this problem.

    While trying to learn Unity, I keep seeing the following code for overriding GetControllerInstance in MVC: if(!typeof(IController).IsAssignableFrom(controllerType)) { ... } this seems to me a pretty convoluted way of basically writing if(controllerType is IController) { ... } I appreciate there are subtle differences between is and IsAssignableFrom, ie IsAssignableFrom doesn't include cast conversions, but I'm struggling to understand the implication of this difference in practical scenarios. When is it imporantant to choose IsAssignableFrom over is?     I'm trying to write a test for an UrlHelper extensionmethod that is used like this: Url.Action<TestController>(x => x.TestAction()); However, I can't seem set it up correctly so that I can create a new UrlHelper and then assert that the returned url was the expected one.   • Dilemma of Sending a Byte Array from JavaScript to COM.

    Hello there, I'm having a bit of a problem because neither Javascript nor ActiveX (written in C++) are behaving like good little children. All I'm asking them to do is for Javascript to send a byte array and for the ActiveX to receive the byte array correctly in order to do more computation. This is how I declared my byte array in JS, and I verified it inside JS: var arr = new Array(0x00, 0xA4, 0x04, 0x00, 0x10,0xA0, 0x00, 00, 00, 0x18, 0x30, 0x03, 0x01, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00); Javascript sends this array as an argument to an ActiveX method. Here is the tricky part; I want the ActiveX method to receive the byte array as a SAFEARRAY or VARIANT, but I can't get it to work for the life of me. I tried debugging and seeing the contents received inside the ActiveX as both SAFEARRAY or VARIANT, but to no avail. Here is the IDL segment: [id(7), helpstring("NEW Sends APDU to Card and Reads the Response")] HRESULT NewSendAPDU( [in] VARIANT pAPDU, [out, retval]VARIANT* pAPDUResponse); Any help is greatly appreciated.
