• PDF writeHTML for rendering tables

  I'm using TCPDF and following this example which uses writeHTML and heredoc syntax to write a table. http://www.tcpdf.org/examples/example_048.phps I'm trying to do though is switch the font using setFont before writing each column. This means I have to break the html and write it on different pieces (see pseudo code). But once I break the HTML like that, it doesn't work, I think because it becomes invalid. writeHTML <tr> writeHTML first column setFont() writeHTML second column writeHTML </tr> I want to use writeHTML because it helps me write the table without having to manually construct. But how can I make modifications before I output each cell?

• ASP MVC 2 : Custom display of a required form element based on ModelMetaData

  I have an MVC 2 application that utilises forms. The required fields within the form are set using attributes that update the model metadata. The form fields are created using the MVC HtmlHelper method : Html.EditorFor. This works fine so far as validation is concerned, but it seems that by default the required fields are not displayed to the user (for example by appending a * to the control). If I wanted to provide some custom means of displaying this fact to the user (lets immagine I want to change the background colour of the edit control for example), where is the best place to do it. Would I need to create a custom html helper to replace EditorFor? I tried but it seemed difficult to gain access to the metadata for the correct property. I already have a custom ModelMetaDataProvider so there is no problem adding it there if that is the correct place.

  Hi, Can you please help me interpret the Greek Characters with HTML display as HTML= & #8062; and Hex value 01F7E Details of these characters can be found on the below URL http://www.isthisthingon.org/unicode/index.php?page=01&subpage=F&hilite=01F7E When I run this character in Apache FOP, they give me an ArrayIndexOut of Bounds Exception Caused by: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: -1 at org.apache.fop.text.linebreak.LineBreakUtils.getLineBreakPairProperty(LineBreakUtils.java:668) at org.apache.fop.text.linebreak.LineBreakStatus.nextChar(LineBreakStatus.java:117) When I looked into the FOP Code, I was unable to understand the need for lineBreakProperties[][] Array in LineBreakUtils.java. I also noticed that FOP fails for all the Greek characters mentioned on the above page which are non-displayable with the similar error. What are these special characters ? Why is their no display for these characters are these Line Breaks or TAB’s ? Has anyone solved a similar issue with FOP ?

  Hey Everyone, This maybe a very mundane question, but this is the first jQuery plugin that I write and I'm a bit fuzzy on understanding the scope rules in Javascript. I'm trying to write an simple jQuery plugin that wraps around the Stack Overflow API. I'm starting off by trying to work with the Flair API. I wanted to make the plugin as configurable as possible so that you can easily pass it the domain and user id, and generate multiple Flairs. var superUser = $.jStackOverflow.flair({domain:"superuser.com", id: 30162, parentId:'#su-flair'}); var stackOverflow = $.jStackOverflow.flair({domain:"stackoverflow.com", id: 55954, parentId:'#so-flair'}); The problem is, when it makes the second call, its somehow using the correct domain and id parameters, but the parentId field that it's using in the callback function to create the html, is using the first parameter. • Consuming JSON stream into AWS Database on the cheap

  I'm working on a project that needs to consume a JSON stream (approximately 1MB / minute), and parse and insert objects into a database. Amazon's DynamoDB or SimpleDB seem like attractive options for this. Is there a web service that can run a very simple script to eat the data and put it in a database? I could use a worker on Heroku or Elastic Beanstalk, or even pure EC2, but I'd like to find a service that's much cheaper, due to the very low amount of bandwidth and CPU required. (Sorry for the crappy tags. I'm not even sure where to categorize this question.)

• Managing multiple AJAX calls to PHP scripts

  I have a set of 5 HTML dropdowns that act as filters for narrowing results returned from a mySQL database. The three pertinent filters are for "Province", "Region", and "City" selection, respectively. I have three functions: findSchools(), which runs when any of the filters (marked with CSS class .filter) are changed, and fetches the results via AJAX from a PHP script. Once that is done, two other functions are called... changeRegionOptions(), which, upon changing the "Province" filter, and updates the available options using the same method as the first function, but posting to a different script. changeCityOptions(), which runs if the "Region" filter was changed, and updates options, again using the same method. The problem is that since I want these AJAX functions to run simultaneously, and they by nature run asynchronously, I've tried using $.when to control the execution of the functions, but it doesn't fix the problem. The functions run, but the Region and City filters return blank (no options); the FireBug report shows absolutely no output, even though the POST request went through. The posted parameter for filter_province gets sent normally, but the one for region gets cut off at the end -- it sends as filter_region=, with no value passed. So I'm presuming my logic is wrong somewhere. Here's how the message shows up in the Event Log, with the HTML "markup", doesn't even handle it: Example 2: Please contact us via <a href="mailto:[email protected]">email</a> or <a href="http://example.com">online</a>. This is how I would like the message to show up, but with "email" and "online" as the link texts: Example 3: Please contact us via email or online. I've tried the <a href>...</a> HTML tags with no success.

• MVC Rendered Partial, how to get partial/view model in main model post to controller

  I have a text file and when users upload the file, the controller action method parses that file using state machine and uses a generic list to store some values. I pass this back to the view in the form of an IEnumerable. Within my main view, based on this ienumerable list I render a partail view to iterate items and display labels and a textarea. Users could add their input in the text area. • How to avoid getting carried away with details?

  When I program, I often get too involved with details. There might be some little thing that doesn't do exactly what I want it to, or maybe there's some little feature I want to add. Either way, none are really essential to the application - it's just a minor niusance (if any). However, when trying to fix it, I may happen to spend way more time on it than I planned, and there are things much more important that I should be doing instead of dealing with this little detail. What can I do to avoid getting carried away with details, when there's more essential things that need doing? (I didn't know how to tag this question, so feel free to add whatever appropriate tags that are missing.)

• Stop Images from loading in UIWebView

  I have a website that I wish to load in a UIWebView, but it is full of images and takes ages to load. The images are useless, and only serve to reduce the usability on the iPhone. I dont own the website so I cannot change the site's actual code. The webpage is heavily linked in to the web with ASP.NET and AJAX (needs external files), so i dont think it is possible to have it load an HTML string. I want to stop the images from loading altogether. So how do i block them? Change the HTML code as its loading somehow, or block images from being loaded?

  I'm developing an action RPG with some friends. I would like to know the differences and pros/cons of making NPC's dialogue using a file in XMLformat instead of using a script. I see that script method is often used by game developers for NPC text, but is it better then a XML file? We've thought that a XML file with tags like <FirstText>[text1]<SecondText>[text2] et cetera is perfect for NPC text and also for possible quests to give the player. So what are the differences between this two methods? Is a script suitable for this aim?

• Why aren't min-width and max-width working as I expect?

  I'm trying to adjust a CSS page layout using min-width and max-width. To simplify the problem, I made this test page. What does min-width mean if the element will happily get narrower than that if the browser window keeps shrinking? Is there any way to achieve what I want: have these elements sit side-by-side, happily shrinking until they reach 200px each, and only then adjust the layout so that the second one drops down? And of course... What am I doing wrong?

  Anyone knows the steps to run Apache on server A as front end and run mod_proxy_ajp to connect to tomcat instances on server B? I want to run apache on sever A to do name based vhost that connects to many tomcat servers. I can run mod_proxy_ajp, only if apache and tomcat are on the same server. When I use packet sniffer on server A, I found that server A is trying to connect to server B at port 80 when I'm connecting http://tc0.domo.lan/manager/html on server A

• Django-allauth redirected to connections
