  • Acer Aspire 5720 Windows XP how do I find what touchpad I have?

    I had to reinstall Windows XP on my Aspire 5720 and now I'm reinstalling the drivers. There are two touchpad drivers and I don't know how to find out which is the right one for my system. I've run the program Acer provides that looks at your hardware, but it doesn't tell me which touchpad I have. The two drivers are Alps and Synaptics -- is there any way I can determine which one I need? Thanks!

  • What's the importance of restoring SQL Server system databases (model, master, etc.)?

    I had to restore some production databases to a different drive on the same Microsoft SQL Server 2005 machine. That worked fine and the application using the databases is back online. However, i have not restored the system (or default?) databases that SQL Server creates on its own (model, master, etc.). My question is, what is the role of these databases? and how important it is that i restore them?

    Is there anyway in windows 7 to change the behavior of alt-tab so that it acts like it did in XP? What I want is for it to show the icon of the program, not a thumbnail of the window. Most of the thumbnails look alike and its really hard to instantly tell which is which like I could on XP.

    Hi, Once i had kept a supervisor password to my windows boot screen, but now i forgot that password, Now i am unable to access the boot menu since its asking the password, all menu options are disabled. Is it possible to remove that password and can i get the boot menu default settings back? I had tried to change the jumper settings too, but the problem hasn't been solved.     We have a classic ASP application that's under significantly more load than usual. We are from time to time been getting "out of memory" and "out of string space" in the httperr. We do not usually see these errors. For the moment we cannot change the application. Is there anything we can do to the IIS config which will help to reduce or stop these errors occurring ? The application pool is set to default values currently.

    I have a domain was registered at godaddy named http://mysite.com/. I logged into godaddy and I went to All Products Domains Domain Management. I clicked on the appropriate domain and it took me to the Domain Details page. I clicked Launch under DNS Manager and it took me to the Zone File Editor. I noticed that notify.mysite.com was pointing to an IP address pointing to a dead server, so I switched it to an operating server. Then I pinged the domain to see where it was pointing to and it was correctly pointing to the working server. So I copied the default configuration under sites-available: sudo cp default notify.mysite.com. And then I made some edits to it to have it point to a different document root to serve files at a different port: Listen 1740 Listen 64.135.xx.xxx:1740 #I also tried this as well: NameVirtualHost 64.135.xx.xxx:1740 <VirtualHost 64.135.xx.xxx:1740> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName notify.mysite.com DocumentRoot /var/www/test/public <Directory /var/www/test/public> Order allow,deny allow from all </Directory> ErrorLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/error.log LogLevel warn CustomLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/access.log combined </VirtualHost> Then I enabled the virtual host. Then I went to the document root and added an index.html file with some text in it. Then I restarted apache. The restart gave no errors. Then I type the correct domain in URL: http://notify.mysite.com:1740/ and I get: Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to notify.mysite.com:1740 Somehow it took out all my other sites. Now even the ones that were responding on port 80 are no longe responding, even though I did not touch the virtual hosts for them. I get this message now: Oops! I have a program that downloads podcast episodes for me. I would like these files to be automatically moved (or at least copied) to my mp3 player once I connect it to the computer.     I have an AMD Radeon 5850 (about to be 2), and today I read that Rift is a member of Nvidia's "the way it's meant to be played" program. It was suggested that as such the developers would not be speaking with or working directly with AMD for optimization, and that it would be unlikely that Crossfire support would be added until the game's release. Are any of these implications likely? Or does it just mean that Nvidia is working closely with the developers for optimization and marketing support?

    I have Fallout Collection and I am trying to run it windowed because of the low resolution. When I change the mode to windowed via the .ini file, however, it starts the game with the window shoved into the upper left corner of my screen. Clicking the title bar of the window just clicks back into the game program. So how can I move it to the center of my screen? I am using Windows 7 professional 64-bit.

    I am trying to run sendmail in tandem with qmail. Presently there is a symlink in the /usr/sbin/ directory pointing to the /var/qmail/sendmail binary. What do I have to change in the qmail configuration if I remove the symlink and rename sendmail.sendmail (I think this is the present name for sendmail's binary) to sendmail so my program can call it. What do I have to do to isolate the two installations aside from selecting a different port in sendmail's configuration?
