I've always used Nero in previous Windows versions. Do I still need it (or some other program) in Windows 7, or is the built-in burning software (whatever it might be) good enough?
I am trying to paste HTML into powerpoint 2007. Everything works ok except that I lose the color of the text and the font. I am using the paste special method selecting html. Now I have read that some people have fixed the color loss problem by setting a color printer as their default. But that does not seem to be working for me nor would it fix the font.
Thank you for any help.
I'm looking at getting a netbook but I see that they don't come with the OS on cd/dvd. Is there a way for me to make a "backup" of the default install in case I get a virus or HD wipe and need to "re-install" the OS?
I have installed VMWare Player in my Windows 7 Ultimate and I have added Ubuntu 12.10 in a virtual machine. The problem is that every time I power off the virtual machine everything is lost. I mean every program I install or folder i save or anything else is lost completely. And when I start the again the virtual machine is like newly installed.
Is there an option to change this (strange) behaviour?
I was just poking around in /usr/bin and I found an ELF binary file called [. /usr/bin/[. I have never heard of this file and my first thought was that it was a clever way of hiding a program, possibly a trojan. However it's present on all my CentOS servers and seems to have no manual entry. I can hazard a guess as to what it is but I was looking for a more authoritative answer...
By default the VHDs go into “C:\Users\Public\Documents\Hyper-V\Virtual Hard Disks” and the config files go into “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Hyper-V”.
Should I leave them there?
Is it ok for the VHDs to be in a “Public” folder?
VLC can download MMS streaming video using the following command...
C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC>vlc mms://blah.akamaistream.net/mystreaming.wmv :demux=dump :demuxdump-file=mystreaming.ps
... but it downloads the show at the regular reading speed. For shows that last longer than a few minutes, I was wondering if someone could recommend a good, preferable free, download for Windows to speed downloading?
I had to reinstall Vista and all of my programs and I want to know how to copy my normal.dot that I have saved on a flash drive into the word 2003 program.
When hovering a program group, a sneak-preview of the windows list of the group appear. What I wanna do is to re-arrange the item in that list. Please help!
Hi
I've just finished installing Visual Studio 2010 professional onto Vista. But don't seem to have Silverlight 4.
If I try to create a new project I can see Silverlight project templates but only seem to be able to target Silverlight 3.
Is Silverlight 4 not part of vs2010 pro by default?
I also noticed the msbuild targets is missing ie the v4.0 folder doesn't exist at the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\Silverlight\
Any help/thoughts would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

I have set the "when firefox starts" and "home page" values, but when I reboot the computer (or more accurately, when I restart the computer as it has been crashing frequently of late), those values get reset to some default value which I don't want.
If I close Firefox then reopen, the correct values appear.
How I do store the values over reboots?
The values are
when firefox starts: show a blank page
home page: about:blank
I'm still using Windows XP so there's no problem about directory permissions.
Hi,
I am so tired to every day at 8:00 am open Skype program to my job. I need a little script to set the hour to open and the hour to close. Sorry for my worst english.
Thanks
Title pretty much says it all ... anyone know of a benchmarking program for measuring usb sticks read/write speeds ? (if it can produce its own files, even better ... in terms of (lots of small files)/(few big ones)).
I run a simple server that I administrate remotely, and I need it to be able to send an email to my personal email address every time an error occurs. With the default setup on Ubuntu, sendmail just accumulates emails in /var/spool/mail that are to be sent locally, but I need it to go to an external email.
The tutorials I've found all talk about setting up postfix/sendmail as a full-fledged email server, but I just need outgoing only, no external logins. Is there an easy way to do this?
I am using Word 2007 and am trying to use the combo:
Ctrl + mouse scroll
To zoom in and out of the doc.
This function works fine in other programs (like google-chrome)
Is there a place to fix this ?
edit: I found out that when I scroll the mouse FAST the desired effect happens. I would like it to also work with slower scrolling. The thing is also that on any other program - the scrolling acts as normal. (so this is not a system wide preference)
Is there a way to convert video, lets say, from .vob to .avi? (and to make it 'smaller', for ex. DVD 4.2 GB to .avi file of 700 MB)
If it is possible, which one would you recommend, as being the best, for the Windows XP?
I'm interested in some simple program, something that beginners can easily use.
Changes made to system or program settings which are stored in the registry are restored to a previous values after a reboot.
This question was also posted Each time I do restart - Windows 8 resets my settings/registry to some state
The "solution" was to create a new user - this is not an option as the user is defined by the domain server.
Does anyone know what is causing the resetting and what a proper solution is?
Hi
I need to block access by a certain Windows program to specific paths of a web site, but not to other paths on that site. Therefore I think using the hosts file won't be helpful for that.
Is there any way to block access to URLs matching a regular expression or even just those containing a specific substring?
Thanks!
The new version of Skype is always stuck on my Super-Bar(unless i exit the program), which is really annoying. There is not option to minimize it to the tray at least in Skype options. Had anyone figured out how to do that?
I'm working on a project in MS Project and the default is a 40-hour week. I'm putting each individual task in based on a number of hours, not days. I'd like to have the whole thing set up and computing at 40-hour weeks, and then change it to 20 hours and have the project recompute. How do I do this? I think it has something to do with changing the "project calendar" but I can't quite figure it out.
Hello,
I wonder is it possible to automatically create add-on domains (www.mydomain.com/first, www.mydomain.com/second...)? I know it can be done in cPanel, but I'd like to have a program that creates add-on domains based on the user input.
Tnx,
Stjepan

I want to use a windows VPN but only for a particular network, so that it doesn't take over my entire network connection.
e.g., Instead of the VPN becoming the default route, make it only the route for 192.168.123.0/24
(I can see that there is a solution for this for Ubuntu in this question, but sometimes I have to do this on Windows too)
Can this be automated so that whenever I connect to the VPN it does this?
