  • PayPal testing without using Sandbox

    - by Webbo
I am developing a website in PHP that accepts PayPal payments. It uses the IPN from PayPal and has a custom payment template etc etc. It all works great through the Sandbox server but when it comes to showing my client, I don't want to have to tell them to login to/create a Sandbox account, create a buyer account and make a payment - he hasn't got time for that and probably won't be able to do it. Therefore, my question is - is there any simple way that I can show my client the PayPal integration in "test mode" without him using the sandbox? I realise that I can set the transaction value to 0.01 and just test on the live PayPal server but that isn't an ideal solution. Cheers! Edit: Just to better explain what I mean, this is what my client sees when he first goes to checkout; As you can see, he has to login to his Sandbox account before then purchasing the item using the buyer email that he sets up. It's just confusing and totally non user-friendly.

  • Modify links in CListView pager to follow routing

    - by Thorpe Obazee
I currently have this: <?php $this->widget('zii.widgets.CListView', array( 'dataProvider'=>$model, 'itemView'=>'_view', 'template' => '{items}{pager}' )); ?> The Pager shows me paginations to posts/index?page=2, posts/index?page=3. The problem is that I have routed blog/posts to posts. I am on blog/posts now and all the links in the Pager is showing me posts/index?page=2, page/index?page=3. I want to have the pager showing links to blog/posts/index?page=2, blog/posts/index?page=3 This my current routing for this: 'urlFormat'=>'path', 'rules'=>array( 'blog/posts' => 'posts', How should I do this? Update: For those confused as to what I am saying:

  • aspnet_regsql not working at all

    - by user252160
I would like to create the ASP.NET User database template on a database of my own, because I'd like to fully untegrate the user system with the rest of my DB. As I've read, i needed to use the aspnet_regsql tool. I put all the options (because my database is running on SQLEXPRESS and is in an mdf file in my project's folder). the program starts and seemingly runs without any errors, however, when I open the database after that, not tables or stored procedures have been added. One more thing: I did one more test. I intentionally gave the -d option a wrong mdf file address, and surprisingly, the program "finished" correctly, yet no file was crated or modified whatsoever.

  • ACL suggestions needed for a small light framework developed

    - by Sai
Hello all, I've developed a small framework that was needed for the firm that I work. The problem is I've not made a full level framework, as developers are finding tough time to understand what is what, So I made a simple structure with app/controllers, app/models, app/views so that they can clearly separate the code and can get used to higher frameworks later. All other things like components/modules/helpers are just coded for now in a file called app_functions.php. The above framework is derived from cakePHP, not all, but just the framework uses a modified code of dispatcher of cake. The models all work with normal sqls, and views with pure html using a template engine. Now I'm trying to develop a small application over it, it cameout well, but ACL is something which many versions of it have not proved that satisfactory. Can anybody suggest a good ACL. I've checked phpGACL(too heavy), Zend_ACL likely won't be compatible, Cakephp's ACL which wont fit in the structure,as we are not using cake's SQLs, as there too many queries hitting the database for one page display.

  • Give me a practical use-case of Multi-set

    - by Calm Storm
I would like to know a few practical use-cases (if they are not related/tied to any programming language it will be better).I can associate Sets, Lists and Maps to practical use cases. For example if you wanted a glossary of a book where terms that you want are listed alphabetically and a location/page number is the value, you would use the collection TreeMap(OrderedMap which is a Map) Somehow, I can't associate MultiSets with any "practical" usecase. Does someone know of any uses? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiset does not tell me enough :) PS: If you guys think this should be community-wiki'ed it is okay. The only reason I did not do it was "There is a clear objective way to answer this question".

  • documenting black-box test cases

    - by Blux
Hi everyone, I want to write an initial (black box) test cases for one of my university projects. I haven't started coding yet, I'm still in completing the SRS document and i should specify the test cases i'm going to implement after the coding. The project is web based, and i should follow this template in each test case: +++++ Test case ID: Author: Initial state: Preconditions: Use Case: Test input: Expected output: ++++++ The thing is, i don't know what is the difference between "initial state" and "preconditions". In some of the test cases it's hard to differentiate between them. Like in "Edit Page" what should be the initial state and what should be the preconditions? any help will appreciated.=)

  • Google App Engine Project hierarchy

    - by Ron
Hey guys, I'm working on a google app engine (with Django) and I just can't figure out what's a good practice for folder hierarchy.. I've looked at this: Project structure for Google App Engine but one thing isn't clear - what if I have static folder (like js files) that are unique to my app, not project? where do they go? my current hierarchy is: proj static ** js ** css myapp ** templates So when a template inside my app sends a GET for js/script.js. this gets redirected to /myapp/js/script.js, which my server doesn't recognize. here is my project url.py: urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^myapp/', include('myapp.urls')), ) and here is my myapp.urls.py: urlpatterns = patterns('myapp.views', (r'^$', 'myapp.views.index'), ) how should I rearrange this to work? thanks!

  • What things on a job listing should be avoided?

    - by Earlz
Hello, I'm looking at trying my hand at a bit of freelancing. And looking at some of the listings, I can tell some of them are definitely, obviously wrong. "A web application mimicking youtube. Project must be completed in 2 weeks. Flat payment of $200. If you are not willing to do things this fast paced then do not apply" But some of them are more subtle and they give me a red flag inside, but I'm not sure to avoid them. What are some things in job listings to avoid for freelance programming jobs? What is the reason for avoiding that?

  • Good way to cache data during Android application lifecycle?

    - by sniurkst
Hello, keeping my question short, I have creating application with 3 activities, where A - list of categories, B - list of items, C - single item. Data displayed in B and C is parsed from online XML. But, if I go trough A - B1 - C, then back to A and then back to B1 I would like to have it's data cached somewhere so I wouldn't have to request XML again. I'm new to Android and Java programming, I've googled a lot and still can't find (or simply do not have an idea where to look) a way to do what I want. Would storing all received data in main activity A (HashMaps? ContentProviders?) and then passing to B and C (if they get same request that was before) be a good idea?

  • How to fix the header and first row in a UITableView

    - by Arturo Guzman
I´m new trying to make some apps using objective c, so I´ve an idea using uitableview but I don't imagine how can I get this. I´m trying to do something like you do in a spreadsheet where you have a fixed header and the first column too So when scroll the uitableview vertically the header will stay visible at top of the table and rows will change And finally when you scroll in horizontal direction the first cell of the row will stay visible and will change the header depending of how you scroll the uitableview I hope you could give me an idea how to get this, because I don't imagine how to do this, also I don´t have a lot of experience with this programming language. Thanks!

  • Why check if your popoverController is nil? Doesn't Obj-C ignore messages to nil?

    - by Rob Fonseca-Ensor
Pretty much everyone that writes about the UISplitView on the iPad uses the following code structure to dismiss a popover: if (popoverController != nil) { [popoverController dismissPopoverAnimated:YES]; } I though Objective-C was happy to ignore messages that are passed to nil? In fact, in the File New Project New Split View Application template, there's an example of this shortcut in the same code block (DetailsViewController.m): - (void)setDetailItem:(id)newDetailItem { if (detailItem != newDetailItem) { [detailItem release]; //might be nil detailItem = [newDetailItem retain]; // Update the view. [self configureView]; } if (popoverController != nil) { [popoverController dismissPopoverAnimated:YES]; //was checked for nil } } Why is that second if necessary?

  • Type patterns and generic classes in Haskell

    - by finnsson
I'm trying to understand type patterns and generic classes in Haskell but can't seem to get it. Could someone explain it in laymen's terms? In [1] I've read that "To apply functions generically to all data types, we view data types in a uniform manner: except for basic predefined types such as Float, IO, and ?, every Haskell data type can be viewed as a labeled sum of possibly labeled products." and then Unit, :*: and :+: are mentioned. Are all data types in Haskell automatically versions of the above mentioned and if so how do I figure out how a specific data type is represented in terms of :*:, etc? The users guide for generic classes (ch. 7.16) at haskell.org doesn't mention the predefined types but shouldn't they be handled in every function if the type patterns should be exhaustive? • How do you handle large repeated UI elements with JQuery

    - by jpoz
Howdy, Here's the situation: You have a very complex UI element that is repeated in a list. Each has a menu on it, buttons, it hides and shows subelements, buttons for switch it's state, etc, etc. The elements are populated via JSON so you have to construct the elements and the functionality of the fly. What's the best way to accomplish this with JQuery? Where would you save the reusable template for the DOM structure? How would you add the behavior on? $().live? .livequery? onclick? manual after every JSON get? I guess I just see a lot of people doing different things. What's your experience with performance? Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks, JPoz

  • get xml attribute named xlink:href using xsl

    - by awe
How can I get the value of an attribute called xlink:href of an xml node in xsl template? I have this xml node: <DCPType> <HTTP> <Get> <OnlineResource test="hello" xlink:href="http://localhost/wms/default.aspx" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:type="simple" /> </Get> </HTTP> </DCPType> When I try the following xsl, I get an error saying "Prefix 'xlink' is not defined." : <xsl:value-of select="DCPType/HTTP/Get/OnlineResource/@xlink:href" /> When I try this simple attribute, it works: <xsl:value-of select="DCPType/HTTP/Get/OnlineResource/@test" />

  • Manipulating the address of a variable to store a smaller type?

    - by Sidnicious
    This is what I get for pampering myself with high-level programming languages. I have a function which writes a 32-bit value to a buffer, and a uint64_t on the stack. Is the following code a sane way to store it? uint64_t size = 0; // ... getBytes((uint32_t*)&size+0x1); I'm assuming that this would be the canonical, safe style: uint64_t size = 0; // ... uint32_t smallSize; getBytes(&smallSize); size = smallSize;

  • Generalized plugable caching pattern?

    - by BCS
Given that it's one of the hard things in computer science, does anyone know of a way to set up a plugable caching strategy? What I'm thinking of would allow me to write a program with minimal thought as to what needs to be cached (e.i. use some sort of boiler-plate, low/no cost pattern that compiles away to nothing anywhere I might want caching) and then when things are further along and I know where I need caching I can add it in without making invasive code changes. As an idea to the kind of solution I'm looking for; I'm working with the D programing language (but halfway sane C++ would be fine) and I like template.

  • Deriving PathInfo class in web routes?

    - by drozzy
I am reading the web-routes tutorial in Happstack, and I have no idea what this is doing: $(derivePathInfo ''Sitemap) class PathInfo a where toPathSegments :: a -> [String] fromPathSegments :: URLParser a The doc simply says: we use template-haskell to derive an instance of PathInfo for the Sitemap type. but where does it "store" it? I thought haskell had no state, and is PathInfo our own thing, or is it part of happstack? If someone could explain this, for dummies? Thanks.

  • Code equivalence between Javascript and PHP

    - by xdevel2000
I'm trying to learn PHP and I wish to know if there are some function equivalence constructs: In JS I can do: var t = function() {}; t(); myObj.DoStuff = function() {} // here I add a method at run-time myObj.DoStuff(); myObj["DoStuff"](); var j = myObj.DoStuff; j(); and so other things with function evaluation. In Js objects are associative arrays so every properties is accessible with the subscript notation... Can I add a method at run-time to a class template so next its object instances can have it? In JS I can do that via a prototype function property.

  • Must See Conference Videos for Python/Django Developers

    - by Koobz
There's lots of good conference videos online regarding Python and Django development. Instead of watching ST:TNG at the computer, I figure it'd more productive to hone my knowledge . Fire away with some of your most inspiring and educational Python, Django, or simply programming related talks. Provide an explanation of why you found the talk useful. Examples: James Bennet on Re-usable Apps - Got me to take a serious look at django apps. Put together a fairly robust site in two days afterwards with django-cms, django-photologue, django-contact-form. Good advice on when your app is crossing boundaries and why it's good to err on the site of 'make it a separate app.'

  • C# define string format of double/floats to be US english by default

    - by neil
Hi, I have got several thousands of lines of a web application source code, initially written on a US development system, to maintain. It makes heavy use of SQL statement strings, which are combined on the fly, e.g. string SQL = "select * from table where double_value = " + Math.Round(double_value, 2); Don't comment on bad programming style, that doesn't help me in this case :) The cruix: My system uses a German locale, which in turn leads to wrong SQL statements, like this: "select * from table where double_value = 15,5" (Note the comma as decimal separator instead of a point). Question: What is the most "elegant" way to change the locale of the web app in this case) to US or UK in order to prevent being forced to change and inspect every single line of code? .net 3.5 is not an option (would give me the chance to overwrite ToString() in an extension class) Kind regards

  • wanting to move up from ms access, thinking .net? visual studio?

    - by Tristan Lear
So I wrote a project-management program for a small business using Microsoft Access 2007. Now they've requested lots of additional features (timekeeping, privileged data tiers ...) I personally use Linux, but the whole office uses Windows. I'm relatively new to programming but like to teach myself using projects like this. I'm right on the edge on this -- I can't really tell what the path of least resistance here is: do I stay in access + VBA and teach myself a dying, annoying language -- while struggling against all the limitations of Access? Or do I move to something else? Python seems simple enough ... Whatever I use, i need to be able to offer a GUI.

  • Problem with Classes in Python..

    - by Gui
Ok guys, I'm really new at python (and programming itself) so sorry for my ignorance, but I really needed to ask this. So im doing a wxPython project where I added several tabs for a notebook (each tab of the notebook = a class) and there is one tab where I added a checkbox (in a tab, lets call it for example Tab1), and what I want is that when someone checks it, a button that exists in other tab (class called for example tab2) gets hidden where previously it was being shown. Well I see that it isn't hard to accomplish this, but my problem is the classes (tab1 and tab2, in this example). I've been trying to figure it out by searching but I guess im not searching hard enough because I just can't get it right. If they were in the same class I wouldn't have a problem, but as they are in different classes, im having a huge struggle with this. Hope someone can help me, and sorry for my ignorance once again.

  • d13slideshow for WordPress and "URL file-access is disabled"

    - by windyjonas
I'm taking my chances with WordPress 3.0 beta 1 (single user) Unfortunately, i ran into problems with d13slideshow. I configured the plugin to display 5 latest from a category, added <?php d13slideshow(); ?> to home.php, but it bombed: function.getimagesize: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in /<snip>/wp-content/plugins/d13slideshow/d13slideshow.php on line 538 Warning: getimagesize(http://<snip>/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/featured-2-580x386.jpg) function.getimagesize: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in /<snip>/wp-content/plugins/d13slideshow/d13slideshow.php on line 538 Is this a problem with the php setup or is there something I can do with the plugin or the function call from the template files to make it work? http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/d13slideshow/

  • What causes a WPF ListCollectionView that uses custom sorting to re-sort its items?

    - by Drew Noakes
    Consider this code (type names genericised for the purposes of example): // Bound to ListBox.ItemsSource _items = new ObservableCollection<Item>(); // ...Items are added here ... // Specify custom IComparer for this collection view _itemsView = CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(_items) ((ListCollectionView)_itemsView).CustomSort = new ItemComparer(); When I set CustomSort, the collection is sorted as I expect. However I require the data to re-sort itself at runtime in response to the changing of the properties on Item. The Item class derives from INotifyPropertyChanged and I know that the property fires correctly as my data template updates the values on screen, only the sorting logic is not being called. I have also tried raising INotifyPropertyChanged.PropertyChanged passing an empty string, to see if a generic notification would cause the sorting to be initiated. No bananas. EDIT In response to Kent's suggestion I thought I'd point out that sorting the items using this has the same result, namely that the collection sorts once but does not re-sort as the data changes: _itemsView.SortDescriptions.Add( new SortDescription("PropertyName", ListSortDirection.Ascending));

  • Zend framework helper intellisense

    - by Nicky De Maeyer
Not so much a programming problem, but more a productivity problem. We've got quite a few custom view and action helpers in our project. Working with around 7 programmers. Now when someone, creates a helper or if one would want to use a helper, it all goes through the brokers. This means we do not get intellisense for those helpers, which can be real time consuming, having to go look in the docs or the code files. This is ofcourse true for both build in and custom helpers. Does any1 share this pain? Does any1 have a solution for this?
