Wildcard SSL certificate support in Weblogic

Weblogic by default doesnt validate ssl certificates with wildcard entries. i.e. with cn = *.example.com . The impact of this is any ssl handshake which involves these kind of certificates are by default rejected. A clean resolution for this is to use custom hostname verifier and point the same to use the class weblogic.security.utils.SSLWLSWildcardHostnameVerifier To make this change, Launch WLS console Click on Environment -> Servers on your left Select Admin Server Then go to SSL tab Lock & Edit Scroll down and expand advanced section Here change Hostname verification entry to Custom Hostname Verifier Below in Custom Hostname verifier enter "weblogic.security.utils.SSLWLSWildcardHostnameVerifier" Restart weblogic

Searching for the last logon of users in Active Directory

I needed to clean out a bunch of old accounts at Veracity Solutions, and wanted to delete those that hadn’t used their account in more than a year. I found that AD has a property on objects called the lastLogonTimestamp. However, this value isn’t exposed to you in any useful fashion. Sure, you can pull up ADSI Edit and and eventually get to it there, but it’s painful. I spent some time searching, and discovered that there’s not much out there to help, so I thought a blog post showing exactly how to get at this information would be in order. Basically, what you end up doing is using System.DirectoryServices to search for accounts and then filtering those for users, doing some conversion and such to make it happen. Basically, the end result of this is that you get a list of users with their logon information and you can then do with that what you will. I turned my list into an observable collection and bound it into a XAML form. One important note, you need to add a reference to ActiveDs Type Library in the COM section of the world in references to get to LargeInteger. Domain should be set to something like LDAP://servername/CN=Users,CN=Domain,CN=com You’re actually getting a com object back, so that’s why the LongInteger conversions are happening. Clean up after Visual Studio

As programmer’s we know that if we create a temporary file during the running of our application we need to make sure it is removed when the application or process is complete. We do this, but why can’t Microsoft do it? Visual Studio leaves tons of temporary files all over your hard drive. This is why, over time, your computer loses hard disk space. This blog post will show you some of the most common places where these files are left and which ones you can safely delete..NET Left OversVisual Studio is a great development environment for creating applications quickly. However, it will leave a lot of miscellaneous files all over your hard drive. There are a few locations on your hard drive that you should be checking to see if there are left-over folders or files that you can delete. I have attempted to gather as much data as I can about the various versions of .NET and operating systems. Of course, your mileage may vary on the folders and files I list here. In fact, this problem is so prevalent that PDSA has created a Computer Cleaner specifically for the Visual Studio developer. Instructions for downloading our PDSA Developer Utilities (of which Computer Cleaner is one) are at the end of this blog entry.Each version of Visual Studio will create “temporary” files in different folders. The problem is that the files created are not always “temporary”. Most of the time these files do not get cleaned up like they should. Let’s look at some of the folders that you should periodically review and delete files within these folders.Temporary ASP.NET FilesAs you create and run ASP.NET applications from Visual Studio temporary files are placed into the <sysdrive>:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework[64]\<vernum>\Temporary ASP.NET Files folder. The folders and files under this folder can be removed with no harm to your development computer. Do not remove the "Temporary ASP.NET Files" folder itself, just the folders underneath this folder. If you use IIS for ASP.NET development, you may need to run the iisreset.exe utility from the command prompt prior to deleting any files/folder under this folder. IIS will sometimes keep files in use in this folder and iisreset will release the locks so the files/folders can be deleted.Website CacheThis folder is similar to the ASP.NET Temporary Files folder in that it contains files from ASP.NET applications run from Visual Studio. This folder is located in each users local settings folder. The location will be a little different on each operating system. For example on Windows Vista/Windows 7, the folder is located at <sysdrive>:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WebsiteCache. If you are running Windows XP this folder is located at <sysdrive>:\ Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\WebsiteCache. Check these locations periodically and delete all files and folders under this directory.Visual Studio BackupThis backup folder is used by Visual Studio to store temporary files while you develop in Visual Studio. This folder never gets cleaned out, so you should periodically delete all files and folders under this directory. On Windows XP, this folder is located at <sysdrive>:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\My Documents\Visual Studio 200[5|8]\Backup Files. On Windows Vista/Windows 7 this folder is located at <sysdrive>:\Users\<UserName>\Documents\Visual Studio 200[5|8]\.Assembly CacheNo, this is not the global assembly cache (GAC). It appears that this cache is only created when doing WPF or Silverlight development with Visual Studio 2008 or Visual Studio 2010. This folder is located in <sysdrive>:\ Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\assembly\dl3 on Windows Vista/Windows 7. On Windows XP this folder is located at <sysdrive>:\ Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Local Settings\Application Data\assembly. If you have not done any WPF or Silverlight development, you may not find this particular folder on your machine.Project AssembliesThis is yet another folder where Visual Studio stores temporary files. You will find a folder for each project you have opened and worked on. This folder is located at <sysdrive>:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Visual Studio\[8|9].0\ProjectAssemblies on Windows XP. On Microsoft Vista/Windows 7 you will find this folder at <sysdrive>:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Visual Studio\[8|9].0\ProjectAssemblies.Remember not all of these folders will appear on your particular machine. Which ones do show up will depend on what version of Visual Studio you are using, whether or not you are doing desktop or web development, and the operating system you are using.SummaryTaking the time to periodically clean up after Visual Studio will aid in keeping your computer running quickly and increase the space on your hard drive. Another place to make sure you are cleaning up is your TEMP folder. Check your OS settings for the location of your particular TEMP folder and be sure to delete any files in here that are not in use. I routinely clean up the files and folders described in this blog post and I find that I actually eliminate errors in Visual Studio and I increase my hard disk space.NEW! Role Center Installation for IIS Default Feature XPS-VIEWER

While installing Dynamics Ax 2009 Roles Center and Enterprise Portal on Windows Server 2008 R2, there is a prerequisite for IIS Default components which fails to install. The error log file for IIS component installation points to an error while installing feature NET-XPS-VIEWER. This issue can be resolved by editing “ServerManagerCmdInputIIS.xml” file present in the support folder of the DAX 2009 installer. Edit the entry “<Feature Id="NET-XPS-Viewer" />” to “<Feature Id="NET-XPS-Viewer" />” and try reinstalling the installer should now continue uninterrupted. The issue is due to the feature name which is now XPS-VIEWER in windows server 2008 R2. Happy Installing!! :-)

Hey! So I'm trying to code something on wordpress for the first time but the validator doesn't seem to like me. Why should I consider using the Source Engine?

I've always been a Valve fan, but now that I have the opportuninty to choose a game engine for a project I'm not sure I want to choose the Source Engine after watching this wikipedia entry. My options essentially boiled down to an open source stack (Horde3D + Zoidcom + Spark + SFML + CEGUI, and well, not OSS but PhysX too), UDK and the Source Engine. My question is (because I really have no experience with it) why should any developer choose the Source Engine over any other open source or commercial option?, is the Source Engine really worth it as a game development tool or has it time already passed and it is obsolete against other solutions?. curlftpfs mount disagrees with the fstab

I am working with curlftpfs to mount a remote FTP directory locally in Kubuntu 12.04 64-bit. I have the following entry in my /etc/fstab: curlftpfs#ftp_user:ftp_password@ftp_server /mnt/nimh fuse ro,noexec,nosuid,nodev,noauto,user,allow_other,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0 I have created the directory in /mnt with the following: |-> ll /mnt total 4.0K drwxrwxr-x 2 jim fuse 4.0K Jan 6 09:56 nimh/ My user does belong to the fuse group as well: uid=1000(jim) gid=1000(jim) groups=1000(jim),27(sudo),105(fuse) I am able to mount manually without issue but then the /mnt changes to: |-> mount /mnt/nimh |-> ll /mnt total 0 drwxr-xr-x 1 jim jim 1.0K Dec 31 1969 nimh/ However when I attempt to umount /mnt/nimh I receive: umount: /mnt/nimh mount disagrees with the fstab My /etc/mtab looks like: curlftpfs#ftp://ftp_user:ftp_password@ftp_server/ /mnt/nimh fuse ro,noexec,nosuid,nodev,allow_other,user=jim 0 0 I am able to umount the filesystem without issue if I sudo. Any idea what I'm missing in order to be able to unmount without having to use sudo?

Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (OEPE) 11gR1 (11.1.1.7) now supports ADF Faces Tags

So the recent release of OEPE 11.1.1.7 has the ADF community buzzing. In addition to reading the product manager's blog entry on the new release... http://blogs.oracle.com/gstachni/2011/02/oracle_enterprise_pack_for_ecl_3.html ...it's important to realize what this support entails now and in the future. This first step, of supporting ADF Faces tags, is not prelude to *complete* ADF support in OEPE. Rather, the aim of the Eclipse support is to provide tools for the MVC (Model-View-Controller) parts of the ADF runtime stack. This means that we plan to support ADFm and ADFc as well in the future, but not the entire ADF stack (ADF BC, etc). My question is (because I really have no experience with it) what would be the technical reasons (not license or other) for any developer to choose the Source Engine over any other open source or commercial option ?, is the Source Engine really worth it as a game development tool or has it time already passed and it is obsolete against other solutions?. Gartner Group's John Radcliffe explains why MDM is destined to be at the heart of future CRM and social CRM projects. HTTP Basic Auth Protected Services using Web Service Data Control

With Oracle JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.4.0) one can now create Web Service Data Control for services which are protected with HTTP Basic Authentication.So when you provide such a service to the Data Control Wizard, a dialog pops up prompting you to entry the authentication details:After you give the details, you can proceed with the creation of Data Control.Once the Data Control is created, you can use the WSDC Tester to quickly test the service.In this case, since the service is protected, we need to first edit the connection to provide username details:Enter the authentication details against username and password. Once done, select DataControl.dcx and using the context menu, select 'Run'. This will bring up the Tester.On the Tester, select the Service Node and using context menu pick 'Operations'. This will bring up the methods which you can test:Now you can pick a method, provide the input parameters and hit execute to see the results.

How-to filter table filter input to only allow numeric input

In a previous ADF Code Corner post, I explained how to change the table filter behavior by intercepting the query condition in a query filter. See sample #30 at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/index-101235.html In this OTN Harvest post I explain how to prevent users from providing invalid character entries as table filter criteria to avoid problems upon re-querying the table. In the example shown next, only numeric values are allowed for a table column filter. To create a table that allows data filtering, drag a View Object – or a data collection of a Web Service or JPA business service – from the DataControls panel and drop it as a table. Choose the Enable Filtering option in the Edit Table Columns dialog so the table renders with the column filter boxes displayed. The table filter fields are created using implicit af:inputText components that need to be customized for you to apply a custom filter input component, or to change the input behavior. To change the input filter, so only a defined set of input keys is allowed, you need to change the default filter field with your own af:inputText field to which you apply an af:clientListener tag that filters user keyboard entries. For this, in the Oracle JDeveloper visual editor, select the column which filter you want to change and expand the column node in the Oracle JDeveloper Structure Window. Part of the column definition is the Column facet node. Expand the facets so you see the filter facet entry. The filter facet is grayed out as there is no custom facet defined. In a next step, open theComponent Palette (ctrl+shift+P) and drag an Input Text component onto the facet. This demarks the first part in the filter customization. To make the custom filter component work, you need to map the af:inputText component value property to the ADF filter criteria that is exposed in the Expression Builder. Open the Expression Builder for the filter input component value property by clicking the arrow icon to its right. In the Expression Builder expand the JSP Objects | vs | filterCriteria node to select the attribute name represented by the table column. The vs entry is the name of a variable that is defined on the table and that grants you access to the table attributes. Now that the filter works as before – though using a custom filter input component – you can add the af:clientListener tag to your custom filter component – af:inputText – to call out to JavaScript when users type in the column filter field Point the client filter method property to a JavaScript function that you reference or add through using the af:resource tag and set the type property value to keyDown. <af:document id="d1"> <af:resource type="javascript" source="/js/filterHandler.js"/> … The filter definition looks as shown below <af:inputText label="Label 1" id="it1" value="#{vs.filterCriteria.Employe <af:clientListener method="suppressCharacterInput" type="keyDown"/> </af:inputText> The JavaScript code that you can use to either filter character inputs or numeric inputs is shown below. Cannot open software sources after removing a PPA

After deleting a ppa entry in the sources.list file, I was not able to open the software sources application. Opening the software centre is fine. MySQL Binary Storage using BLOB VS OS File System: large files, large quantities, large problems.

Hi Guys, Versions I am running (basically latest of everything): PHP: 5.3.1 MySQL: 5.1.41 Apache: 2.2.14 OS: CentOS (latest) Here is the situation. I have thousands of very important documents, ranging from customer contracts to voice signatures (recordings of customer authorisation for contracts), with file types including, but not limited to jpg, gif, png, tiff, doc, docx, xls, wav, mp3, pdf, etc. All of these documents are currently stored on several servers including Windows 32 bit, CentOS and Mac, among others. Some files are also stored on employees desktop computers and laptops, and some are still hard copies stored in hundreds of boxes and filing cabinets. Now because customers or lawyers could demand evidence of contracts at any time, my company has to be able to search and locate the correct document(s) effectively, for this reason ALL of these files have to be digitised (if not already) and correlated into some sort of order for searching and accessing. As the programmer, I have created a full Customer Relations Management tool that the whole company uses. This includes Customer Profiles management, Order and job Tracking tools, Job/sale creation and management modules, etc, and at the moment any file that is needed at a customer profile level (drivers licence, credit authority, etc) or at a job/sale level (contracts, voice signatures, etc) can be uploaded to the server and sits in a parent/child hierarchy structure, just like Windows Explorer or any other typical file managment model. The structure appears as such: drivers_license |- DL_123.jpg voice_signatures |- VS_123.wav |- VS_4567.wav contracts So the files are uplaoded using PHP and Apache, and are stored in the file system of the OS. At the time of uploading, certain information about the file(s) is stored in a MySQL database. Some of the information stored is: TABLE: FileUploads FileID CustomerID (the customer id that the file belongs to, they all have this.) JobID/SaleID (the id of the job/sale associated, if any.) FileSize FileType UploadedDateTime UploadedBy FilePath (the directory path the file is stored in.) FileName (current file name of uploaded file, combination of CustomerID and JobID/SaleID if applicable.) FileDescription OriginalFileName (original name of the source file when uploaded, including extension.) So as you can see, the file is linked to the database by the File Name. When I want to provide a customers' files for download to a user all I have to do is "SELECT * FROM FileUploads WHERE CustomerID = 123 OR JobID = 2345;" and this will output all the file details I require, and with the FilePath and FileName I can provide the link for download. http... server / FilePath / FileName There are a number of problems with this method: Storing files in this "database unconcious" environment means data integrity is not kept. If a record is deleted, the file may not be deleted also, or vice versa. Files are strewn all over the place, different servers, computers, etc. The file name is the ONLY thing matching the binary to the database and customer profile and customer records. etc, etc. There are so many reasons, some of which are described here: http://www.dreamwerx.net/site/article01 . SO, after much research I have pretty much decided I am going to store ALL of these files in the database, as a BLOB or LONGBLOB, but there are still many considerations before I do this. I know that storing them in the database is a viable option, however there are a number of methods of storing them. I also know storing them is one thing; correlating and accessing them in a manageable way is another thing entirely. The article provided at this link: dreamwerx.net/site/article01 describes a way of splitting the uploaded binary files into 64kb chunks and storing each chunk with the FileID, and then streaming the actual binary file to the client using headers. This is a really cool idea since it alleviates preassure on the servers memory; instead of loading an entire 100mb file into the RAM and then sending it to the client, it is doing it 64kb at a time. I have tried this (and updated his scripts) and this is totally successful, in a very small frame of testing. So if you are in agreeance that this method is a viable, stable and robust long-term option to store moderately large files (1kb to couple hundred megs), and large quantities of these files, let me know what other considerations or ideas you have. Also, I am considering getting a current "File Management" PHP script that gives an interface for managing files stored in the File System and converting it to manage files stored in the database. If there is already any software out there that does this, please let me know. I guess there are many questions I could ask, and all the information is up there ^^ so please, discuss all aspects of this and we can pass ideas back and forth and teach each other. Java Speech Example: Encode, Stream, Decode, Play

I have been trying to find an example of this that I could use for a couple years, I'm ashamed to admit. I would like to see a working, compileable example (most that I find online don't compile or don't actually work) of reading from the microphone, encoding the voice data in a speech-friendly encoding such as Speex, and streaming that information in real time to a Decoder which then plays the audio. I suppose this example would simply echo what is said. I would like to ultimately use this to learn to make an audio mixing chat server.

Can't get TRIM test to work

So I'm attempting to install TRIM using the walkthrough here: How to enable TRIM? But everytime I attempt to run the hdparm command, I get the following when I try to run it w/ sda: reading sector 5805056: FAILED: Input/output error and I get this when running it with sda1: /dev/sda1: Device /dev/sda1 has non-zero LBA starting offset of 2048. Please use an absolute LBA with the /dev/ entry for the full device, rather than a partition name. /dev/sda1 is probably a partition of /dev/sda (?) The absolute LBA of sector 5807104 from /dev/sda1 should be 5809152 Aborting. I'm running Natty in a VBox on Windows 7. Someone PLEASE help.. I keep getting this "consistency check" message on boot of my machine and I think it's because Ubuntu is writing to the same sectors on the VHD too much.. need to get trim working on this thing.. Thanks.

IBM DB2 and the “'DbProviderFactories' section can only appear once per config” error

IBM doesn’t like MS. That’s a fact. And that’s why you can get your machine.config file (!!!) corrupted if you try to install IBM DB2 data providers on your server machine. If at some point, after having installed IBM DB2 data providers your SSIS packages or SSAS cubes or SSRS Reports starts to complain that 'DbProviderFactories' section can only appear once per config you may want to check into you machine.config, located in the %runtime install path%\Config http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms229697%28v=vs.71%29.aspx Almost surely you’ll find a IBM DB2 Provider into an additional DbProviderFactories section all alone. Poor guy. Remove the double DBProviderFactories entry, and merge everything inside only one section DBProviderFactories and after that everything will start to work again.

HFS+ hard drive being mounted as read only

This is a recurring problem and occurs a few times a week. I have an external hard drive which is hfs+. Every couple of weeks, for no obviuous reason, when I mount it by pluggin it in to my Ubuntu 11.10, it is read only and I can't copy any files into it. I gksudo nautlius and change the ownership and it magically works in some time. But returns to the read only state soon in a few hours-days without any rhyme or reason. Right now my fstab doesn't have any entry for my hard drive. What gives? What in the world is going on with Linux/HFS+? This is frustrating. I can't reformat my hard drive because I have almost a terrabyte of data in it and no receptacle to hold it while I reformat it.
