  • What can I do with Java for Blu Ray or BD-J?

    - by Jay Askren
    I have a Blu Ray player which can connect to the internet to play media from netflix and youtube. I am intrigued by the possibilities of BD-J and wondering just how far the technology can be taken. For instance: Could I write a twitter, facebook, rss reader, or email client? Can I write a game which would allows people to play each other over the web from their own tv? Could I write a DVR app which stored tv shows on the thumbdrive plugged into the player. Can I run my applications from a thumbdrive or do I need to put them on a Blu Ray disk? Does anyone have real experience with BD-J? How do you like it as a development platform? How would you recommend getting started? Can I develop in BD-J using open source tools like Eclipse, Maven, etc...

  • mod_rewrite settings causes server to throw HTTP 500 errors instead of 404

    - by FractalizeR
    Hello. I have a server with VBulletin forum (working under Apache 2.2, CentOS). The default settings for it in .htaccess are as follows: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^gsmforum\.ru RewriteRule (.*) http://www.gsmforum.ru/$1 [R=301,L] # If you are having problems or are using VirtualDocumentRoot, uncomment this line and set it to your vBulletin directory. Can you advise me what is the problem with mod_rewrite settings? Why does the last line cause infinite recursion?

    we are writing script to display banners on a web page where we are using temporary table in mysql procedure. Is there any other efficient way to use table variable instead of using temporary table we are using following code: -- banner location CURSOR -- DECLARE banner_location_cursor CURSOR FOR select bm.id as masterId, bm.section as masterName, bs.id as locationId, bs.sectionName as locationName from banner_master as bm inner join banner_section as bs on bm.id=bs.masterId where bm.section=sCode ; -- DECLARE banner CURSORS DECLARE banner_cursor CURSOR FOR SELECT bd.id as bannerId, bd.sectionId, bd.bannerName, bd.websiteURL, bd.paymentType, bd.status, bd.startDate, bd.endDate, bd.bannerDisplayed, bs.id, bs.sectionName from banner_detail as bd inner join banner_section as bs on bs.id=bd.sectionId where bs.id= location_id and bd.status='A' and (dates between cast(bd.startDate as DATE) and cast(bd.endDate as DATE)) order by rand(), bd.bannerDisplayed asc limit 1 ; DECLARE CONTINUE HANDLER FOR NOT FOUND SET no_more_rows = 1; SET dates = (select curdate()); -- RESULTS TABLE WHICH WILL BE RETURNED -- CREATE temporary TABLE test ( b_id INT, s_id INT, b_name varchar(128), w_url varchar(128), p_type varchar(128), st char(1), s_date datetime, e_date datetime, b_display int, sec_id int, s_name varchar(128) ); -- OPEN banner location CURSOR OPEN banner_location_cursor; the_loop: LOOP FETCH banner_location_cursor INTO master_id, master_name, location_id, location_name; IF no_more_rows THEN CLOSE banner_location_cursor; leave the_loop; END IF; OPEN banner_cursor; -- select FOUND_ROWS(); the_loop2: LOOP FETCH banner_cursor INTO banner_id, section_id, banner_name, website_url, payment, status, start_date, end_date, banner_displayed, sec_id, section_name; IF no_more_rows THEN set no_more_rows = 0; CLOSE banner_cursor; leave the_loop2; END IF; INSERT INTO test ( b_id, s_id, b_name , w_url, p_type, st, s_date, e_date, b_display, sec_id, s_name ) VALUES ( banner_id, section_id, banner_name, website_url, payment, status, start_date, end_date, banner_displayed, sec_id, section_name ); UPDATE banner_detail set bannerDisplayed = (banner_displayed+1) where id = banner_id; END LOOP the_loop2; END LOOP the_loop; -- RETURN result SELECT * FROM test; -- DROP RESULTS TABLE DROP TABLE test; END

  • DBCC MEMUSAGE in 2005/8 ?

    - by steveh99999
    I used to like using undocumented command DBCC MEMUSAGE in SQL 2000 to see which tables were using space in SQL data cache. In SQL 2005, this command is not longer present. Instead a DMV – sys.dm_os_buffer_descriptors – can be used to display data cache contents,  but this doesn’t quite give you the same output as DBCC MEMUSAGE. I’m also aware that you can use Quest’s spotlight tool to view a summary of data cache contents. Using  this post by Umachandar Jayachandran  of Microsoft, I was able to create the following equivalent for SQL 2005/8. I’ve wrapped Umachandar’s original query in a CTE to produce summary information :- ;WITH memusage_CTE AS (SELECT bd.database_id, bd.file_id, bd.page_id, bd.page_type , COALESCE(p1.object_id, p2.object_id) AS object_id , COALESCE(p1.index_id, p2.index_id) AS index_id , bd.row_count, bd.free_space_in_bytes, CONVERT(TINYINT,bd.is_modified) AS 'DirtyPage' FROM sys.dm_os_buffer_descriptors AS bd JOIN sys.allocation_units AS au ON au.allocation_unit_id = bd.allocation_unit_id OUTER APPLY ( SELECT TOP(1) p.object_id, p.index_id FROM sys.partitions AS p WHERE p.hobt_id = au.container_id AND au.type IN (1, 3) ) AS p1 OUTER APPLY ( SELECT TOP(1) p.object_id, p.index_id FROM sys.partitions AS p WHERE p.partition_id = au.container_id AND au.type = 2 ) AS p2 WHERE  bd.database_id = DB_ID() AND bd.page_type IN ('DATA_PAGE', 'INDEX_PAGE') ) SELECT TOP 20 DB_NAME(database_id) AS 'Database',OBJECT_NAME(object_id,database_id) AS 'Table Name', index_id,COUNT(*) AS 'Pages in Cache', SUM(dirtyPage) AS 'Dirty Pages' FROM memusage_CTE GROUP BY database_id, object_id, index_id ORDER BY COUNT(*) DESC I’m not 100% happy with the results of the above query however… I’ve noticed that on a busy BizTalk messageBox database  it will return information on pages that contain GHOST rows – . ie where data has already been deleted but has yet to be cleaned-up by a background process – I’m need to investigate further why cache on this server apparently contains so much GHOST data… For more information on the background ghost cleanup process, see this article by Paul Randall. However, I think the results of this query should still be of interest to a DBA. I have another post to come shortly regarding an example I encountered where this information proved useful to me… I notice in SQL 2008, sys.dm_os_buffer_descriptors gained an extra column – numa_mode – I’m interested to see how this is populated and how useful this column can be on a NUMA-enabled system. I’m assuming in theory you could use this column to help analyse how your tables are spread across Numa-enabled data-cache ?

  • Mapping a Vertex Buffer in DirectX11

    - by judeclarke
    I have a VertexBuffer that I am remapping on a per frame base for a bunch of quads that are constantly updated, sharing the same material\index buffer but have different width/heights. However, currently right now there is a really bad flicker on this geometry. Although it is flickering, the flicker looks correct. I know it is the vertex buffer mapping because if I recreate the entire VB then it will render fine. However, as an optimization I figured I would just remap it. Does anyone know what the problem is? The length (width, size) of the vertex buffer is always the same. One might think it is double buffering, however, it would not be double buffering because it only happens when I map/unmap the buffer, so that leads me to believe that I am setting some parameters wrong on the creation or mapping. I am using DirectX11, my initialization and remap code are: Initialization code D3D11_BUFFER_DESC bd; ZeroMemory( &bd, sizeof(bd) ); bd.Usage = D3D11_USAGE_DYNAMIC; bd.ByteWidth = vertCount * vertexTypeWidth; bd.BindFlags = D3D11_BIND_VERTEX_BUFFER; //bd.CPUAccessFlags = 0; bd.CPUAccessFlags = D3D11_CPU_ACCESS_WRITE; D3D11_SUBRESOURCE_DATA InitData; ZeroMemory( &InitData, sizeof(InitData) ); InitData.pSysMem = vertices; mVertexType = vertexType; HRESULT hResult = device->CreateBuffer( &bd, &InitData, &m_pVertexBuffer ); // This will be S_OK if(hResult != S_OK) return false; Remap code D3D11_MAPPED_SUBRESOURCE resource; HRESULT hResult = deviceContext->Map(m_pVertexBuffer, 0, D3D11_MAP_WRITE_DISCARD, 0, &resource); // This will be S_OK if(hResult != S_OK) return false; resource.pData = vertices; deviceContext->Unmap(m_pVertexBuffer, 0);

  • How to blend multiple normal maps?

    - by János Turánszki
    I want to achieve a distortion effect which distorts the full screen. For that I spawn a couple of images with normal maps. I render their normal map part on some camera facing quads onto a rendertarget which is cleared with the color (127,127,255,255). This color means that there is no distortion whatsoever. Then I want to render some images like this one onto it: If I draw one somewhere on the screen, then it looks correct because it blends in seamlessly with the background (which is the same color that appears on the edges of this image). If I draw another one on top of it then it will no longer be a seamless transition. For this I created a blendstate in directX 11 that keeps the maximum of two colors, so it is now a seamless transition, but this way, the colors lower than 127 (0.5f normalized) will not contribute. I am not making a simulation and the effect looks quite convincing and nice for a game, but in my spare time I am thinking how I could achieve a nicer or a more correct effect with a blend state, maybe averaging the colors somehow? I I did it with a shader, I would add the colors and then I would normalize them, but I need to combine arbitrary number of images onto a rendertarget. This is my blend state now which blends them seamlessly but not correctly: D3D11_BLEND_DESC bd; bd.RenderTarget[0].BlendEnable=true; bd.RenderTarget[0].SrcBlend = D3D11_BLEND_SRC_ALPHA; bd.RenderTarget[0].DestBlend = D3D11_BLEND_INV_SRC_ALPHA; bd.RenderTarget[0].BlendOp = D3D11_BLEND_OP_MAX; bd.RenderTarget[0].SrcBlendAlpha = D3D11_BLEND_ONE; bd.RenderTarget[0].DestBlendAlpha = D3D11_BLEND_ZERO; bd.RenderTarget[0].BlendOpAlpha = D3D11_BLEND_OP_MAX; bd.RenderTarget[0].RenderTargetWriteMask = 0x0f; Is there any way of improving upon this? (PS. I considered rendering each one with a separate shader incementally on top of each other but that would consume a lot of render targets which is unacceptable)

  • Recommend a good DVD or BD replacement drive that can read older CD-R/DVD+R media?

    - by Irinotecan
    So I have a bunch of older CD-R (and a few DVD+R) discs that are either suffering from "bit rot", or a case of crappy no-name Chinese DVD drives being unable to read some or all of anymore. I just threw my last no-name DVD drive in the trash after it ejected a disk still spinning causing it to scratch to the point of being useless, so I'm looking for a replacement drive this time around with an eye for quality over a dirt cheap price. I'd prefer a BD drive, but I'll take any suggestions for good, reliable DVD or BD drives that people have reported having good success with for reading older burned media. Any takers?

  • Blu-ray BD-R: Would you physically store it in a CaseLogic Wallet pocket?

    - by Rob
    I keep several backup copies of my material and files. For my DVDs, one set of copies is kept in a CaseLogic wallet folder pack, so that I can easily move this around when visiting friends, family or for business. This is highly convenient. The other sets are kept in their jewel cases in hard plastic see thru storage boxes. Although CaseLogic wallet material is designed to be abrasion free, their caveat is that external dust will be the cause of any blemishes. If hard dust gets in these pockets, which is inevitable, this will occasionally cause light hair like scratches on the disc surface as the discs are removed and returned for access to their contents. This is of no consequence as the laser and error correction can more than cope with this. I'm aware that the blu-ray spec requires anti-scratch in disc surfaces but was wondering that, given the smaller pits, would dust and light scratches from wallet storage cause more problems with blu-rays than they would with DVDs? I'm using Blu-ray BD-R and BD-R DL write once media.

  • Does Win 7 still requires copying all files over before burning to a DVD-R or BD-R?

    - by Jian Lin
    It seems that Win 7 still needs to copy all files over to a folder, before it burns all files to the DVD-R or BD-R? I think since XP or Vista, Windows always copy everything over to a temporary folder before it will burn to an empty DVD-R. So if you just want to burn a 4GB file to an empty DVD-R, it will first make a copy of that file, and then burn it, instead of just burning it without making a copy first. And now on Win 7, it seems like it is the case also? Most other 3rd party burning tools won't make an extra copy of the files first... Win 7 is the exception. Is there a way around it? (to avoid copying over 25GB or 50GB of data before burning)

  • Set Position of multiple bodies

    - by philipp
    I have a character composed of five bodies which are tied together by a lot of joints. On of them is the overall chassis, to which all forces and impulses are applied to move the whole Character. All in all that works very fine, except one thing: I need to set the Position of the Character so that it get Beamed from one place to the other in one single frame. Unfortunately I cannot get this to work. I tried the following code, without any success… playerbodies.forEach(function (bd) { bd.SetLinearVelocity(new b2.Vec2()); var t = bd.GetTransform(); t.p.x -= 10; bd.SetTransform(t, bd.GetAngle()); }); How can I make that happen?

  • JBox2D applyLinearImpulse doesn't work

    So i have this line of code: if(input.isKeyDown(Input.KEY_W)&&canJump()) { body.applyLinearImpulse(new Vec2(0, 30), cam.screenToWorld(body.getPosition())); System.out.println("I can jump!"); } My problem is that the console display I can jump! but the body doesn't do that. Can you explain to me if i do something wrong? Some more code. This function creates my 'hero' the one supposed to jump. private Body setDynamic(float width, float height, float x, float y) { PolygonShape shape = new PolygonShape(); shape.setAsBox(width/2, height/2); BodyDef bd = new BodyDef(); bd.allowSleep = true; bd.position = new Vec2(cam.screenToWorld(new Vec2(x + width / 2, y + height / 2))); bd.type = BodyType.DYNAMIC; bd.userData = new BodyInfo(width, height); Body body = world.createBody(bd); body.createFixture(shape, 10); return body; } And this is the main update loop: if(input.isKeyDown(Input.KEY_A)) { body.setLinearVelocity(new Vec2(-10*delta, body.getLinearVelocity().y)); } else if (input.isKeyDown(Input.KEY_D)) { body.setLinearVelocity(new Vec2(10*delta, body.getLinearVelocity().y)); } else { body.setLinearVelocity(new Vec2(0, body.getLinearVelocity().y)); } if(input.isKeyDown(Input.KEY_W)&&canJump()) { body.applyLinearImpulse(new Vec2(0, 30), body.getPosition()); System.out.println("I can jump!"); } world.step(delta * 0.001f, 10, 5); }

  • Programatically Add a AnnotationSessionFactoryBean

I am trying to add an AnnotationSessionFactoryBean to my Spring Context in either postProcessBeanFactory or postProcessBeanDefinitionRegistry. I need to do this programatically so that I can configure the object at runtime. I am trying to do: @Override public void postProcessBeanDefinitionRegistry(BeanDefinitionRegistry bdr) throws BeansException { RootBeanDefinition bd = new RootBeanDefinition( AnnotationSessionFactoryBean.class); // fails here.. can not cast AnnotationSessionFactoryBean asfb = (AnnotationSessionFactoryBean)bd; bdr.registerBeanDefinition("sessionFactory", asfb); thanks for your help --updated with solution: had to do a: GenericBeanDefinition bd = new GenericBeanDefinition(); bd.setBeanClass(AnnotationSessionFactoryBean.class); bd.getPropertyValues().add("dataSource", dataSource); bdr.registerBeanDefinition("sessionFactory", bd);

  • Copying unicode symbols from Firefox address bar as is

    - by sindikat
    Let's say I open a webpage with some Unicode characters, say, Cyrillic, in the address like this: http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/??????????????_?????????????? When I try to copy it from the address bar somewhere else, it becomes unreadable rubbish: http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A4%D1%83%D0%BD%D0%BA%D1%86%D0%B8%D0%BE%D0%BD%D0%B0%D0%BB%D1%8C%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%8F_%D0%B7%D0%B0%D0%BA%D1%80%D0%B5%D0%BF%D0%BB%D1%91%D0%BD%D0%BD%D0%BE%D1%81%D1%82%D1%8C I guess this is for compatibility. However for readability I want to copy it straight away with proper Unicode characters. What and how should I tweak to make that possible?

  • CUDA: cudaMemcpy only works in emulation mode.

    - by Jason
    I am just starting to learn how to use CUDA. I am trying to run some simple example code: float *ah, *bh, *ad, *bd; ah = (float *)malloc(sizeof(float)*4); bh = (float *)malloc(sizeof(float)*4); cudaMalloc((void **) &ad, sizeof(float)*4); cudaMalloc((void **) &bd, sizeof(float)*4); ... initialize ah ... /* copy array on device */ cudaMemcpy(ad,ah,sizeof(float)*N,cudaMemcpyHostToDevice); cudaMemcpy(bd,ad,sizeof(float)*N,cudaMemcpyDeviceToDevice); cudaMemcpy(bh,bd,sizeof(float)*N,cudaMemcpyDeviceToHost); When I run in emulation mode (nvcc -deviceemu) it runs fine (and actually copies the array). But when I run it in regular mode, it runs w/o error, but never copies the data. It's as if the cudaMemcpy lines are just ignored. What am I doing wrong? Thank you very much, Jason

  • Why would a SQL query JOIN on the same table twice with the same condition?

    - by Scott Leis
    I'm working on changes to a SQL Server v8 database developed by someone else, and have found something that seems (based on my limited SQL knowledge) strange and pointless. One of the views has a query that does a LEFT OUTER JOIN twice on the same table with the same condition. Is there any reason for doing this? The query is below. See the second- and third-last lines that both join the "te_SDE_Survey" table on the "SDE_ID" field. Also note these lines set two different aliases for the table, and both aliases are used in the SELECT part of the query. SELECT vs.SLMS_Code, vs.Retail_Date, vs.TagNo, vs.Rego, vs.Model, vs.Company, vs.AccountType, viqdp.SDE_ID, bd.Debit_Date, isu.Survey_Date, CASE WHEN isu.Q6 IS NOT NULL THEN isu.Q6 ELSE CASE WHEN returned_surveys.survey_date IS NULL THEN CASE WHEN (viqdp.expiryDate < getdate() AND cs.sup1 IS NULL AND cs.sup2 IS NULL AND cs.sup3 IS NULL AND cs.sup5 IS NULL AND cs.sup8 IS NULL AND cs.sup9 IS NULL) THEN 'E' WHEN (viqdp.expiryDate < getdate() AND cs.sup1 = 'F' AND cs.sup2 = 'F' AND cs.sup3 = 'F' AND cs.sup5 = 'F' AND cs.sup8 = 'F' AND cs.sup9 = 'F') THEN 'E' WHEN cs.sup1 = 'T' THEN 'S' WHEN cs.sup2 = 'T' AND (cs.sup8 = 'F' AND cs.sup9 = 'F') THEN 'D' WHEN cs.sup3 = 'T' AND (cs.sup8 = 'F' AND cs.sup9 = 'F') THEN 'D' WHEN cs.sup5 = 'T' AND (cs.sup8 = 'F' AND cs.sup9 = 'F') THEN 'D' WHEN cs.sup8 = 'T' AND (cs.sup2 = 'F' AND cs.sup3 = 'F' AND cs.sup5 = 'F') THEN 'E' WHEN cs.sup9 = 'T' AND (cs.sup2 = 'F' AND cs.sup3 = 'F' AND cs.sup5 = 'F') THEN 'E' WHEN (cs.sup8 = 'T' OR cs.sup9 = 'T') AND (cs.sup2 = 'T' OR cs.sup3 = 'T' OR cs.sup5 = 'T') THEN 'S' END WHEN (tey.survey_expire_method = 'pre2008') THEN CASE WHEN (datediff(month, viqdp.generate_date, returned_surveys.survey_date) 1) THEN 'E' END WHEN (tey.survey_expire_method = 'expiryDateColumn') THEN CASE WHEN (returned_surveys.survey_date viqdp.expiryDate) THEN 'E' END END END AS score_or_exclusion_status, CASE WHEN (bd.explanation IS NULL) THEN '' ELSE bd.explanation END AS explanation, tey.te_Year FROM dbo.te_Vehicle_Sale vs INNER JOIN dbo.te_Year tey ON vs.Retail_Date = tey.Start_Date AND vs.Retail_Date <= tey.End_Date LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.Bad_Data bd ON vs.TagNo = bd.TagNo LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.te_Vehicle_SDESurvey viqdp ON vs.TagNo = viqdp.TagNo LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.te_SDE_Survey isu ON viqdp.SDE_ID = isu.SDE_ID LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.te_SDE_Survey returned_surveys ON viqdp.SDE_ID = returned_surveys.SDE_ID LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.te_SDE_Contact_Suppression cs ON viqdp.SDE_ID = cs.SDE_ID

  • CentOS 6.2 Bridge Setup for KVM

    - by Gaia
    I'm trying to set up bridged networking with KVM on CentOS 6.2 to no avail. There are plenty of docs and tutorials about it, but they all seem to conflict or don't provide info specific enough to my situation. I just don't get it. I access the host via public IP "xxx.xxx.128.58". All other available IPs (/29) should be bridged and made available to the only KVM guest (running a public facing LAMP stack) that will be setup on this machine. The amazingly unhelpful NOC people assigned the extra IPs to eth1. Is this correct? Should br0 bridge to eth0 or eth1? How do I set this up? Here is the relevant info: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:25:90:68:FE:BC inet6 addr: fe80::225:90ff:fe68:febc/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:763 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:8 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:550811 (537.9 KiB) TX bytes:648 (648.0 b) Memory:fb980000-fba00000 eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:25:90:68:FE:BD inet addr:xxx.xxx.128.58 Bcast:xxx.xxx.128.63 Mask:255.255.255.248 inet6 addr: fe80::225:90ff:fe68:febd/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:1806 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:1505 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:133166 (130.0 KiB) TX bytes:106070 (103.5 KiB) Memory:fb900000-fb980000 eth1:0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:25:90:68:FE:BD inet addr:xxx.xxx.128.59 Bcast:xxx.xxx.128.63 Mask:255.255.255.248 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 Memory:fb900000-fb980000 eth1:1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:25:90:68:FE:BD inet addr:xxx.xxx.128.60 Bcast:xxx.xxx.128.63 Mask:255.255.255.248 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 Memory:fb900000-fb980000 eth1:2 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:25:90:68:FE:BD inet addr:xxx.xxx.128.61 Bcast:xxx.xxx.128.63 Mask:255.255.255.248 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 Memory:fb900000-fb980000 eth1:3 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:25:90:68:FE:BD inet addr:xxx.xxx.128.62 Bcast:xxx.xxx.128.63 Mask:255.255.255.248 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 Memory:fb900000-fb980000 lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) virbr0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 52:54:00:62:55:68 inet addr:192.168.122.1 Bcast:192.168.122.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) > cat /etc/sysconfig/network NETWORKING=yes HOSTNAME=XXXX.domain.com > brctl show bridge name bridge id STP enabled interfaces br0 8000.00259068febc no eth0 virbr0 8000.525400625568 yes virbr0-nic > ls -fl | grep ifcfg -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 198 Jun 7 10:58 ifcfg-eth0 -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 254 Oct 7 2011 ifcfg-lo -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 77 Jun 6 18:51 ifcfg-eth1-range0 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 168 Jun 6 18:50 ifcfg-eth1 > cat ifcfg-eth0 DEVICE="eth0" BOOTPROTO="static" BRIDGE="br0" HWADDR="00:25:90:68:FE:BC" IPV6INIT="yes" MTU="1500" NM_CONTROLLED="yes" ONBOOT="yes" TYPE="Ethernet" IPADDR="yyy.yyy.216.131" NETMASK="255.255.255.128" > cat ifcfg-eth1 DEVICE="eth1" HWADDR="00:25:90:68:FE:BD" NM_CONTROLLED="yes" ONBOOT="yes" BOOTPROTO="static" IPADDR="xxx.xxx.128.58" NETMASK="255.255.255.248" GATEWAY="xxx.xxx.128.57" > cat ifcfg-eth1-range0 IPADDR_START="xxx.xxx.128.59" IPADDR_END="xxx.xxx.128.62" CLONENUM_START="0" Kernel IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface xxx.xxx.128.56 * 255.255.255.248 U 0 0 0 eth1 192.168.122.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 virbr0 link-local * 255.255.0.0 U 1003 0 0 eth1 default xxx.xxx.128.57 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth1

  • Unable to transfer data to or from mounted hard drive

    - by user210335
    So usually i'm good at sorting out issues. But this one has me at a loss! This issues has occured since upgrading my ubuntu so this was workingg prior. I use mounted hard drives to manage my downloads which are then copied over accordingly by a python based app. I found it was having issues with permissions to create anything on these mounted hard drives. I'm able to play and access he content of these drives so they're not faulty. My mount script looks like the following rw,user,exec,auto I really am stuck. Could anyone shed any light on how to fix this and allow me to access it. I've checked the properties and all groups should have read and write access so i'm very confused! thanks, edit here's the output of my mount options /dev/sda2 on / type ext4 (rw,errors=remount-ro) proc on /proc type proc (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev) sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev) none on /sys/fs/cgroup type tmpfs (rw) none on /sys/fs/fuse/connections type fusectl (rw) none on /sys/kernel/debug type debugfs (rw) none on /sys/kernel/security type securityfs (rw) none on /sys/firmware/efi/efivars type efivarfs (rw) udev on /dev type devtmpfs (rw,mode=0755) devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,noexec,nosuid,gid=5,mode=0620) tmpfs on /run type tmpfs (rw,noexec,nosuid,size=10%,mode=0755) none on /run/lock type tmpfs (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,size=5242880) none on /run/shm type tmpfs (rw,nosuid,nodev) none on /run/user type tmpfs (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,size=104857600,mode=0755) none on /sys/fs/pstore type pstore (rw) /dev/sda1 on /boot/efi type vfat (rw) /dev/sdc1 on /mnt/tv type fuseblk (rw,nosuid,nodev,allow_other,blksize=4096) /dev/sdb1 on /mnt/B88A30E88A30A4B2 type fuseblk (rw,nosuid,nodev,allow_other,blksize=4096) systemd on /sys/fs/cgroup/systemd type cgroup (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,none,name=systemd) gvfsd-fuse on /run/user/1000/gvfs type fuse.gvfsd-fuse (rw,nosuid,nodev,user=simon) /dev/sdd1 on /media/simon/New Volume3 type fuseblk (rw,nosuid,nodev,allow_other,default_permissions,blksize=4096) the main mount in question is /dev/sdc1 on /mnt/tv type fuseblk (rw,nosuid,nodev,allow_other,blksize=4096) heres my dmesg output. • Better approach to archiving large amounts of original video footage using optical media (DVD/Blu-ra

    - by Rob
    This question is to share my experience as well as ask for suggestions for better methods. Along with 2 friends, I completed the making of a short documentary film in 2006. Clip is at: http://www.youtube.com/mediamotioninvision The film was edited in Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 on Windows XP. More details and screenshot here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/smilingrobbie/1350235514/ ( note this is not intended to be a plug, we've moved on from this initial learning curve project ;) ) The film is in 4:3 standard definition 720x576 PAL format. As well as retaining the final 30minute film, I wanted to keep all original files that assembled together to make the film. The footage was 83.5Gb So I archived them to over 20 4.7Gb DVD recordables in the original .avi format (i.e. data DVD-ROM format, NOT DVD-Video Mpeg2) Some .avi DV video files were larger than 4.7Gb so I used 7-zip to split them ( here is a guide as to how to do that: http://www.linglom.com/2008/10/12/how-to-split-a-large-file-using-7-zip/ ) To recombine them, a dos shell command like this would do that: copy /b file.avi.* file.avi would do the job, where .* is a wild card to include all the split parts e.g. 001, 002...00n assuming they are all in the same directory path folder. file.avi is the recombined file identical to the original. Later on, I bought a LG BE06 LU10 USB 2.0 Super-multi Blu-ray burner and archived the footage to 2 (two) x 50Gb BD-R DL discs. Again in the original format, written as files to a BD-R in the BD-R BD-ROM UDF format readable by PC/Mac etc, NOT Blu-ray video/film format. This seems to be a good solution for me, because: the archive is in a robust, reasonably permanent, non-volatile medium, i.e. DVD recordable / Blu-ray (debates about stability of optical media organic chemical dye compounds/substrates aside) the format of the archive is accessible by open source tools or just plain Windows Explorer and it's not in a proprietary format I just thought I'd ask folks for their experience on better methods, if such exist.
