  • Netbook Remix 10.04 to 10.10 upgrade using alternate iso

    I'm using Netbook Remix 10.04 now. I'm having the 10.10 alternate iso with me. If I use that iso to upgrade, will I lose my netbook version? I've seen in some forums that the upgrade resulted in a change from netbook version to desktop version. Updated on 15/12/2010 I upgraded the OS from 10.04 to 10.10. But I'm getting an error like this after restart: modprobe: FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.35-22-generic/modules.dep: No such file or directory I searched in the forums and got a solution like this: Open Terminal gksudo gedit /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf change the line MODULES=most to MODULES=dep Then use Synaptic (SystemAdministrationSynaptic Package Manager) to reinstall initramfs-tools. I'll be definitely trying this later. After that when the system tries to login, my screen starts flashing with just the ubuntu netbook desktop wallpaper on the screen. No other options will be available. It will be flashing continuosly. If I press the power button then one window comes up with options like Shut down, Restart, Hibernate etc. And the screen won't stop flashing either. I've uploaded a 1 min video.     I'm looking into the best way to deploy a customized Ubuntu image and it looks like I have two options: To make an "OEM install" version To make a custom Ubuntu image Could someone help me understand the difference between these two methods of customizing a Ubuntu install? It appears to me that both these methods allow for elaborate customization of the image while allowing the user to enter their own end-user details (time zone, username, password, etc.)

What implications, if any, will this have for programmers building software and/or hardware dealing with video (and WebRTC in particular)?   • Getting CoreMIDI to work in snow leopard with SimpleSynth

    I have been trying to follow the steps in the book Ruby Practical Project - making music with ruby and was trying to get CoreMIDI and output some notes using SimpleSynth. I can connect to the destination but when i do something like midi = LiveMIDI.new midi.note_on(0, 60, 100) I get no output from the sound system. Has anyone tried the code and faced similar situation?? And also What are the better libraries for music programming in Ruby?

    I am trying to reach methods and properties of ObjectFrame through vb.net. But when I declared this as Dim objOLEObject As ObjectFrame and then trying to instantiate it as ObjOLEObject = New ObjectFrame it shows error like: "429: Retriveing the COM class factory for component with CLSID {3806e95d-e47c-11-cd-8701-00aa003f0f7} failed due to the following error: 80040154" To resolve this we re-installed both MS-Office 2003 and VS-2005, but could not get the solution. Could anyone suggest me how to declare and use this in vb.net? Thanks.

    i am fetching the data values from the database success fully. I have also stored them into a String array. I need to load the String array as the items of the ComboBox in response to key actionperformed . How can i reload the items of the ComboBox whenever a key is pressed as the fetched values depend on the key pressed. Rather simply, i need to dynamically refresh the ComboBox items. please help.

    My Application (Vb.net, Access 2003/2007) is to scan Access Database files for activex controls and to generate report accordingly. Problem: Getting an error like: "Insufficient memory to continue the execution of the program." The above error occurs while scanning for older version of Access files like prior to office 2000. And the line of code where I get this is as follows: Dim oForm As Access.Form Dim oAccess as Access.Application oForm = oAccess.Forms(objForms.Name) But it opens the file and form as well.
