  • Shared resources in Windows Server 2008 were lost

    - by user316687
We have an Oracle database in Windows Server 2003, which has its archived redo logs stored on a shared resource of a Windows Server 2008: \\192.168.1.189\d$\folder_for_archivedlogs However, according to Oracle's alert.log, at 10:01 p.m that shared resource got lost and the database was inaccessible. From my Windows Server 2003, on Windows Explorer, I couldn't access that shared resource, but I got a response when I did ping 192.168.1.189. I reviewed all the Event Logs on that Windows 2008, but there is no error at 10:00pm or 11:00pm. Has anyone seen some similar case before? (Shared resources get lost, but you still can ping the server and there are no error events in the Event Logs).

  • Dir all files to output.log, including message "File Not Found"

    - by user316687
I'm trying to dir a bunch of files with dos command: dir My dir.bat file: dir E:\documentos\57\Asiento\01\"Asiento 3 Modificacion de Estatuto.doc" dir E:\documentos\134\Asiento\01\"File Does Not Exist.doc" dir E:\documentos\55\Asiento\01\"Asiento 5 Padron de Afiliados Segunda Entrega.doc" The second one doesn't exist. Then, when running my bat: C:\myuser>E:\dir.bat > output.log I open output.log and don't find any message about the file that was not found. Output.log : E:\documentos>dir E:\documentos\57\Asiento\01\"Asiento 3 Modificacion de Estatuto.doc" Volume in drive E is New Volume Volume Serial Number is 0027-F7F6 Directory of E:\documentos\57\Asiento\01 20/12/2005 06:41 p.m. 40,960 Asiento 3 Modificacion de Estatuto.doc 1 File(s) 40,960 bytes 0 Dir(s) 17,053,155,328 bytes free E:\documentos>dir E:\documentos\134\Asiento\01\"File Does Not Exist.doc" Volume in drive E is New Volume Volume Serial Number is 0027-F7F6 Directory of E:\documentos\134\Asiento\01 E:\documentos>dir E:\documentos\55\Asiento\01\"Asiento 5 Padron de Afiliados Segunda Entrega.doc" Volume in drive E is New Volume Volume Serial Number is 0027-F7F6 Directory of E:\documentos\55\Asiento\01 08/08/2007 08:33 a.m. 40,960 Asiento 5 Padron de Afiliados Segunda Entrega.doc 1 File(s) 40,960 bytes 0 Dir(s) 17,053,151,232 bytes free Is there any way that output.log shows "File Not Found" message?

  • DDoS attacks to PBX

    - by user316687
I'm wondering if DDOS attacks to PBX or telecommunications systems is possibe real. According to this links: http://threatpost.com/en_us/blogs/firm-sees-more-ddos-attacks-aimed-telecom-systems-073112 http://news.softpedia.com/news/DDOS-Attacks-Against-Telecom-Systems-Cost-as-Little-as-20-16-Per-Day-284875.shtml it is possible. There are DDOs attacks to web servers, which mostly give them so much concurrent loads or connections that service get unavailable. Many government or non-profit organizations that suffered this kind of attacks, eventually could choose to shutdown their web server and that's it, waiting for these attacks to end. For a DDOs attacks to PBX, I imagine that it would result in telephones getting busy or ringing all the time unstoppably. This kind of attack could really damage any kind organization. Is it possible to do that or are we just in the beginnings?

  • Can I see if and when a file was deleted on Windows Server 2003?

    - by user316687
On Windows Server 2003, is there a way to see if and when a file was deleted? It's a web server with IIS, our web application let our users to load Word documents into server. However, we found that one Word file is missing, and would like to know is it was deleted or never existed (web app could'nt load it). EDIT: I tried to follow this: Enable auditing the folder you want to keep track of. Just right click on the folder, go to “sharing and security”, then “security” tab, at the bottom click on “advanced”. Select the auditing tab, click add, select the group or users to track, then pick what actions you want to track. To track file deletion you would enable: Create files/Write data Success/Fail Create folders / append data Success/Fail Delete Subfolders/Files Success/Fail Delete Suceess/Fail This one will apply from now on, past actions wouldn't be able to track?
