  • Check_webinject plugin will not connect to https site using

    - by uSlackr
We're using Nagios to monitor some of our web sites. We have a script that uses the older plugin that we are trying to switch to using webinject.pl from cpan. When the script runs, it generates this error: LWP::Protocol::https::Socket: SSL connect attempt failed with unknown error error:1407741A:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:tlsv1 alert decode error at /usr/local/share/perl5/LWP/Protocol/http.pm line 51. It appears the web site does not support TLSv1 for https. If it matters, the site is a Cisco WebVPN. I've pointed the same script at a different site that does support TLSv1 and it seems to work fine. My web search is coming up empty. Successful connect: <case id="1" description1="Metro Home Page" description2="Metro, login test" method="get" url="https://metro.myco.com/index.php" verifypositive="restricted" logrequest="yes" logresponse="yes" sleep="1" / Failing connect: <case id="2" description1="WebVPN Home Page" description2="webvpn.myco.com login test" method="get" url="https://webvpn.myco.com/webvpn.html" verifypositive="Authorized" logrequest="yes" logresponse="yes" sleep="1" /

  • Web service access fails when users password is in warning period

    - by uSlackr
We have a number of locally installed .Net apps that communicate via web services. Authentication in IIS is handled by Windows Authentication so no additional login is required. We recently began seeing a problem where users are getting a application 403 error when there password is 14 days (or less) from expiring. As this sometime happens in the the middle of the day (login in the morning OK, but password reaches <14 days during the day), this comes as a surprise as they haven't been warned to change their password. Of course, one would expect they should be able to work until the password is expired. Any idea on what could be happening here? Why would IIS reject a login if the passsword hasn't actually expired? Can we change that behaviour? Thanks \\Greg

  • Can I stop SharePoint from prompting during file edit?

    - by uSlackr
We use a SharePoint 2007 site internally with Office 2010. Whenever I open a Word document to edit it, I get a prompt saying: Some files can harm your computer. If the file information below looks suspicious, or you do not fully trust the source, do not open the file. I've been unable to find a reliable answer around the web. Some suggested using the Windows File Types dialog to remove the prompt on download option, but this dialog is not available in Windows 7.

  • How to tune Windows 2008r2 and IIS to maximize single file download speeds?

    - by uSlackr
We recently put up an IIS site (on WinSvr 2008r2) that is used almost exclusively for downloading files over the internet. The data exists as a large collection of .zip files ranging from 1MB - 35GB in size. We want to allow a lot of downloads during a day (more than 500GB) but have implemented an outbound ASA throttle at 60mbps in order to preserve bandwidth for other uses. The total link speed is 100mbps. Here's the interesting part: While we can serve up multiple downloads to hit the 60mbps cap, we cannot get any single download to exceed 2.5M bytes/sec (20 Mbits/s). Is there any TCP or IIS tuning we can do to push up individual download speeds? Or something else to look at?
