  • How do I get a Vodafone K3772-Z USB modem working?

    I recently switched from Win 7 to Ubuntu 12.04...Best day of my life :) I have a question relating to my Vodafone K3772-Z USB modem. When I plug it in, the lights start flashing on the device, meaning that it is functional. In the network menu I get a "Wired network Vodafone K3772-Z disconnected". I have set up the a connection by using Edit connections - mobile broadband - Add, but in the add window the "Create a connection for this mobile device" is blanked out and says "Any Device". Does anyone perhaps have an idea of what I could do to get it working?

    I'm running kubuntu 10.10 and have vodafone mobile broadband dongle. When I plug it in, I can see a 'new cellular connection' , but when I try to connect it shows 'preparing to connect' but never does. I went to 'manage connections' and addded my details, like APN,PIN and PUK. but it still ain't working.. I also tried unchecking MSCHAPv2 and MSCHAP in my PPP settings, but nothing seems to work. what do i do? I'm new to linux.

  • Multiple SMTP servers in Thunderbird3

    Situation: 2 mail accounts - each with its own pop3 and smtp servers, accesed normally. Except, when using Vodafone mobile network (you know, those usb or pcmcia cards ...) in which case mails are send using Vodafone's SMTP server. I configured both accounts in thunderbird for their default servers, and then added under multiple identities, another called Name of User (mobile) for each account. And it works. Except, I don't like the fact that when I send mail using mobile smtp server it sends them under Name of User (mobile) <-- the mobile part being important. I could of course, delete that part, but then when sending mail, I'd have no way of differenting between the two. They'd both look as Name of User email@address_of_user.com. So, what would be the easiest way to solve this ? It is not a major problem, but it is annoying.

    I have a very strange question today - how do I share my dial up internet (yeah I know you are gonna say that is slow but broadband internet isn't available in my area), so dial up and 3G connection is all I got. I also have a Vodafone USB 3G modem that picks up 3G network, I am planning to use my Vodafone 3G modem in the day since I have free dial up internet from 7:00 pm in the night untill 7am the next morning.     I have a server and the postfix client on it. Since several days, I noticed a lot of processes running there. When checked, there are a lot of emails sent.   • Mobile Broadband Connection terminating automatically after 2-3 minutes

    I am connecting my mobile device with Ubuntu to access INTERNET, It connects easily but after 2-3 minutes it automatically disconnect and then I have to disconnect my mobile device and then reconnect it again to establish a connection. Cant understand what is the problem. No problem with my device as it works flawless with windows.   • OpenBSD pf 'match in all scrub (no-df)' causes HTTPS to be unreachable on mobile network

    First of all: excuse me for my poor usage of the English language. For several years I'm experiencing problems with the 'match in all scrub (no-df)' rule in pf. I can't find out what's happening here. I'll try to be clear and simple. The pf.conf has been extremely shortened for this forum posting. Here is my pf.conf: set skip on lo0 match in all scrub (no-df) block all block in quick from urpf-failed pass in on em0 proto tcp from any to 213.125.xxx.xxx port 80 synproxy state pass in on em0 proto tcp from any to 213.125.xxx.xxx port 443 synproxy state pass out on em0 from 213.125.xxx.xxx to any modulate state HTTP and HTTPS are working fine. Until the moment a customer in France (Wanadoo DSL) couldn't view HTTPS pages! I blamed his provider and did no investigation on that problem. But then... I bought an Android Samsung Galaxy SII (Vodafone) to monitor my servers. Hours after I walked out of the telephone store: no HTTPS-connections on my server! I thought my servers were down, drove back to the office very fast. But they were up. I discovered that disabling the rule match in all scrub (no-df) solves the problem. Android phone (Vodafone NL) and Wanadoo DSL FR are now OK on HTTPS. But now I don't have any scrubbing anymore. This is not what I want. Does anyone here understand what is going on? I don't. Enabling scrubbing causes HTTPS webpages not to be loaded on SOME ISP's, but not all. In systat, I strangely DO see a state created and packets received from those ISP's... Still confused. I'm using OpenBSD 5.1/amd64 and OpenBSD 5.0/i386. I have two ISP's at my office (one DSL and one cable). Affects both. This can be reproduced quite easily.     I have a desktop with a Fritz USB WLAN N stick and tried Ubuntu 12.04. Installation went fine and WLAN is working. However, connection drops permanent. Reconnecting manually fixes it but after a few minutes it drops again. It's connected to a Vodafone 802 box with WLAN N fix set. It seems that it works when I switch off N mode. But I need to test. Can someone confirm this issue or is there another solution? I have another machine with 12.04 (HP 625 laptop) running where connection is stable.
