  • Opening Skype, Opera, OpenOffice logs me off

    - by anjanesh
Whats common among Skype, Opera, OpenOffice in Ubuntu ? Whenever I open these applications I get logged off and shows back me the login screen. This started happening since the 10.10 upgrade. Forgot to mention : Yes, its x64.Each time I open these applications, the UI shows and then crashes. I started each app & logged the last few lines of /var/log/syslog after each crash. Looks like something to do with sound drivers ? Opera :Jan 8 09:33:20 al-ubuntu pulseaudio[11532]: pid.c: Daemon already running. • Decompiling a *.DLL to assembly for .net in delphi 4

    - by Lex Dean
I love my Delphi 4 but at the same time I see the need to talk to windows .net This is a recompiled dll that I found on sourceforge.net/projects/delphinet/ (DelphiNet03.zip) by some nice people that fund the dll from some were. The real answer is to make this dll so that fits into Delphi as true Delphi code, and not a dll clip on. So we can make objects that use dot net in Delphi. Because I’m not an assembly freak, I’m freaking out a little with a wee sweek for help! 1/ How do I link the asm code with the data info at the bottom of this code. Can some one show me which calls to look for to make this link to data. 2/ I need to find the beginning of all the procedures and functions, but I cannot find a ‘RET’ statement. And what line is the beginning statement in this code. 3/ How do I identify were the jump statements go to, put them into Delphi format In this code it looks I can do:- jle 402890h \1000:00402854 7e3a add [eax], al \1000:00402856 0000 …………………………………………….. or ch, [edi+3eh] \1000:0040288d 0a6f3e xrefs first: 1000:00402854 number : 1 \; add [eax], al \1000:00402890 0000 //******************************* jle @@21 \\1000:00402854 7e3a add [eax], al \\1000:00402856 0000 …………………………………………….. or ch, [edi+3eh] \1000:0040288d 0a6f3e xrefs first: 1000:00402854 number : 1 \; @@21 add [eax], al \1000:00402890 0000 Is that a correct conversion. I think a xrefs first: 1000:004021d1 number : 1 is the best to follow 4/ I need a good reference on 8086 up assembly code that I can print out and get to learn properly. I found this asm decomplier of http://www.cronos.cc/ that is so similar to Delphi that it only needs a little more convertion to get it into Delphi asm I think. It’s only taken me 3 hours to get the file into TMemo and to write a few lines to chop the line over in a stream and reload the memo. • Il CRM è al passo con i tempi?

    - by antonella.buonagurio(at)oracle.com
Is your CRM solution keeping up with the times?"

    - by user67662
Gracias!

  • Error al instalar Visual Studio 2008 en Windows 7

    - by José Marcos García Espinosa
Post/Install() failed in ISetupManager::InternalInstallManager() with HRESULT -2147023293.

  • Convert DVD to MKV (et al) without transcoding/recompression

    - by Oli
Like a lot of people, I have a lot of DVDs. But we also have a stupid amount of disk space and a media centre (Boxee) so the DVDs are getting less and less use. It would be nice to convert our DVDs into something more relevant to our needs. I've dabbled with DVD ripping before but whereas I'd usually transcode down to a smaller picture size with a better video compression algorithm, this takes a silly amount of time. I don't have a couple of hours available for each disk. (Sidebar: is there dedicated, Linux-friendly hardware to improve h264 encoding performance?) So I was wondering if there's anything that take the DVD filesystem, De-CSS it, and then stitch together any the VOBs that make up the main part of the film and package that up in a wrapping format like MKV. A bonus would be if it could grab the subtitles and stick them in too but that's not a requirement as Boxee can grab the subtitles online if it needs to.

  • MSBuild on TeamCity Server can't find AL.exe

    - by Tim Long
I'm having a problem on my TeamCity CI build server where during compilation I get the following error: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.targets(2342, 9): error MSB3086: Task could not find "AL.exe" using the SdkToolsPath "" or the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A". Make sure the SdkToolsPath is set and the tool exists in the correct processor specific location under the SdkToolsPath and that the Microsoft Windows SDK is installed I've found similar reports from a year ago when people were upgrading to .NET 3.5, for example this one. In that case, installing the latest SDK solved the issue, however I have already installed the latest SDK (Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7 and .NET Framework 4) on my build server. The MSBuild tools are all there on the server, in a folder called C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319 and AL.exe exists in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1\Bin\NETFX 4.0 Tools However the registry key mentioned in the error message does not exist. So, it seems like there is something wrong with the installation/configuration of MSBuild. This error only happens for projects that have embedded resources, which require AL.exe. Please, anyone solved this issue or have any clues what's wrong?

  • How to swap the "fn" use of Function keys on al Apple Keyboard in Linux

    - by jfmessier
I have an apple slim keyboard (USB) and if I want to use one of the Function Key as-is, I also have to press "fn " key first. Otherwise, it will try to perform the other function of the key, such as increasing or decreasing the display intensity, change the volume/mute, etc.... As well, the fn key is actually in the position of the "insert" key for regular keyboards. How can I fix all of that ? I really like this keyboard, as it make my typing much easier, and much more silent too. But some of those mappings that are different sometime bug me. Thanks :-)

  • An alternative to Google Talk, AIM, MSN, et al [closed]

    - by mkaito
I'm not entirely sure whether this part of stack exchange is the most adequate for my question, but it would seem to me that people sharing this kind of concern would converge either here, or possibly on a more unix-specific sub site. Either way, here goes. Background Feel free to skip to The Question, below. This should, however, help those interested understand where I'm coming from, and where I expect to get, messaging-wise. My online talking place-to-go has been IRC for the last fifteen years. I think it's a great protocol, and clients out there are very good. I still use, and will always continue to use IRC for most of my chat needs. But then, there is private instant messaging. While IRC can solve this with queries and DCC chats, the protocol just isn't meant to work too well on intermittent connections, such as a mobile device, where you can often walk around places with low signal. I used MSN for a while, but didn't like it. The concept was awesome, but I think Microsoft didn't get the implementation quite right. When they started adding all that eye candy, and my buddies started flooding me with custom icons and buzzing my screen to it's knees, I shut my account and told folks that missed me to just email or call me. Much whining happened, I got called many weird things for not using MSN, but folks eventually got over it. Next, Google Talk came along, and seemed to be a lot better than MSN ever was. The protocol was open, so I could use whatever client I felt a fancy for. With the advent of smart phones, I just got myself a gtalk client on the phone, and have had a really decent integrated mostly-universal IM solution. Over the last few months, all Google services have been feeling flaky. IMs will often arrive anywhere between twenty minutes and one hour after being sent, clients will randomly disconnect, client priorities seem to work sometimes, and sometimes just a random device of those connected will get an IM. I think the time has come to look for greener grass. The Question It's rather hard to put what I'm looking for into precise words. I guess I just want something that is kind of like MSN/Gtalk, but that doesn't let me down when I need it. IRC is pretty much perfect, but the protocol just isn't designed to work well on mobile devices. Really, at this point I'm considering sticking to IRC for desktop messaging, and SMS/email on the phone, but I hope that in this day and age there is something better out there.

  • Resgen al.exe generated resources do not work within .net library

    - by Raj G
Hi, I am currently working on a library in .Net and I planned to make the strings that are used within the library into culture specific resource files. I made Resources.resx, Resources.en-US.resx and Resources.ja-JP.resx file. I also deleted the Resources.designer.cs file autogenerated by visual studio 2008. I am loading Resources through my custom ResourceManager object [using GetString method]. The problem that I am facing is that when I compile the library within visual studio and set the culture from the calling application, everything is working fine. But if I manually go to the directory and change a string for a culture and regenerate the satellite assembly with resgen and al.exe, the string displayed, falls back to the invariant culture. I have attached the ildasm view of both the dlls en-US generated from within visual studio //Metadata version: v2.0.50727 .assembly extern mscorlib { .publickeytoken = (B7 7A 5C 56 19 34 E0 89 ) // .z\V.4.. .hash = (71 05 4D 54 C4 8D C2 90 7D 8B CF 57 2E B5 98 22 // q.MT....}..W..." • Al Zimmermann's Son of Darts

    - by polygenelubricants
There's about 2 months left in Al Zimmermann's Son of Darts programming contest, and I'd like to improve my standing (currently in the 60s) to something more respectable. I'd like to get some ideas from the great community of stackoverflow on how best to approach this problem. The contest problem is known as the Global Postage Stamp Problem in literatures. I don't have much experience with optimization algorithms (I know of hillclimbing and simulated annealing in concept only from college), and in fact the program that I have right now is basically sheer brute force, which of course isn't feasible for the larger search spaces. Here are some papers on the subject: A Postage Stamp Problem (Alter & Barnett, 1980) Algorithms for Computing the h-Range of the Postage Stamp Problem (Mossige, 1981) A Postage Stamp Problem (Lunnon, 1986) Two New Techniques for Computing Extremal h-bases Ak (Challis, 1992) Any hints and suggestions are welcome. Also, feel free to direct me to the proper site if stackoverflow isn't it.

What is the exact difference between the two?. Is it sign tool have to be used when working with certificates and can it we acheive it SN?. or are they totally different.? Please help.

  • using Quick Sequence Diagram Editor for sequence diagrams

    - by Jason S
Anyone have experience with Quick Sequence Diagram Editor? The combination of instant display + text source code + Java implementation is very attractive to me, but I can't quite figure out how to make the syntax do what I want, and the documentation's not very clear. Here's a contrived example: al:Actor bill:Actor atm:ATM[a] bank:Bank[a] al:atm.give me $10 atm:al has $3=bank.check al's account balance al:atm.what time is it atm:al.it's now atm:al.stop bugging me atm:al.you only have $3 atm:bill.and don't you open your mouth bill:atm.who asked you? bill:atm.give me $20 al:atm.hey, I'm not finished! atm:bill has $765=bank.check bill's account balance atm:yes I'm sure, bill has $765=bank.hmm are you sure? atm:bill.here's $20, now go away atm:great, he's a cool dude=bank.I just gave Bill $20 al:atm.what about my $10? atm:al.read my lips: you only have $3 Here's the result from QSDE in single-threaded mode: and in multi-threaded mode: I guess I'm not clear what starts/ends those vertical bars. I have a situation which is single-threaded, but there's state involved, and all the messages are asynchronous. I guess that means I should use an external object to represent that state and its lifetime. What I want is for one timeline to represent the message sequence al:atm.give me $10 atm:bank.check al's account balance bank:atm.al has $3 atm:al.you only have $3 and another timeline to represent the message sequence bill:atm.give me $20 atm:bank.check bill's account balance bank:atm.bill has $765 atm:bank.hmm are you sure? bank:atm.yes I'm sure, bill has $765 atm:bill.here's $20, now go away atm:bank.I just gave Bill $20 bank:atm.great, he's a cool dude with the other "wisecracks" representing other miscellaneous messages that I don't care about right now. Is there a way to do this with QSDE?

But then what about def.cpp? Why I'm not getting err msg that function f(X) is already defined? Here shouldn't apply ODR rule. Second concern I'm having is that if in def.cpp I change the return type of f from int to double intelliSense underlines this as an error but program still compiles? Why?

  • FlexBuilder compiler bug - IWatcherSetupUtil2 et al

    - by Marty Pitt
I'm having a problem with FlashBuilder in what is clearly a compiler bug, but I can't track it down. When my project is compiled inside FlashBuilder, I'm getting the following compiler errors: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: [mx.binding]::IBindingClient Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: [mx.binding]::IWatcherSetup2 Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: [mx.core]::IStateClient2 These errors are reported without a path or location. My project is a flex4 project, moderately complex. It has 6 swc projects, which are referenced within a swf project. (The swf project is the one that's reporting the error). The ANT build script compiles the project fine. The problem exists on more than 1 PC. How do I start tracking down what's causing the problem?

  • Android Scoreloop, OpenFeint etc al

    - by theblitz
I am looking to use one of the social networks in my Android program. Most important for me is the ability to build a continuous leadership board in which players move up and down depending their wins/loses to others. The idea is for players to challenge others head-to-head. The winner gains points and the loser loses points. Equally important, I want this feature to include the possibility to "charge" the player game coins. Scoreloop includes the possibility of challenges but they are there in order to win coins off other players. In other words, they are the means to the end. In my case I need it to be the other way around. The "ends" is to be higher in the leadership board and the "means" are to play others with coins. Scoreloop do have a continuos leadership board but it is not accessible from the program. I tried looking at OpenFeint but their site is a real mess. It is impossible to understand from there exactly what is and isn't available. I signed up and tried to add my program. I ended up adding it four times and cannot delete it!

I need help making a check statement to see if all the controls' Texts are non-blank, and if they are, you have a draw (if someone had won the previous code would have discovered that). Can you give me a good example using my code. using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Windows.Forms; using System.Drawing; namespace MyGame { public class Result1 { static private int[,] Winners = new int[,] { // main gameplay Ex: if x is on 0,1,2 x is the winner {0,1,2}, {3,4,5}, {6,7,8}, {0,3,6}, {1,4,7}, {2,5,8}, {0,4,8}, {2,4,6}, }; static public bool CheckWinner(Button[] myControls) { //bolean statement to check for the winner bool gameOver = false; for (int i = 0; i < 8; i++) { int a = Winners[i, 0]; int b = Winners[i, 1]; int c = Winners[i, 2]; Button b1 = myControls[a], b2 = myControls[b], b3 = myControls[c]; if (b1.Text == "" || b2.Text == "" || b3.Text == "") continue; if (b1.Text == b2.Text && b2.Text == b3.Text) { b1.BackColor = b2.BackColor = b3.BackColor = Color.LightCoral; b1.Font = b2.Font = b3.Font = new System.Drawing.Font("Microsoft Sans Serif", 32F, System.Drawing.FontStyle.Italic & System.Drawing.FontStyle.Bold, System.Drawing.GraphicsUnit.Point, ((System.Byte)(0))); gameOver = true; xWinnerForm xWinnerForm = new xWinnerForm(); xWinnerForm.ShowDialog(); //only works with show not showDialog method gets overloaded (b1.Text + " is the Winner"); to get around this I added and image showing the last player } } return gameOver; } } }

  • optimize query: get al votes from user's item

    - by Toni Michel Caubet
    hi there! i did it my way because i'm very bad getting results from two tables... Basically, first i get all the id items that correspond to the user, and then i calculate the ratings of each item. But, there is two different types of object item, so i do this 2 times: show you: function votos_usuario($id){ $previa = "SELECT id FROM preguntas WHERE id_usuario = '$id'"; $r_previo = mysql_query($previa); $ids_p = '0, '; while($items_previos = mysql_fetch_array($r_previo)){ $ids_p .= $items_previos['id'].", "; //echo "ids pregunta usuario: ".$items_previos['id']."<br>"; } $ids = substr($ids_p,0,-2); //echo $ids; $consulta = "SELECT valor FROM votos_pregunta WHERE id_pregunta IN ( $ids )"; //echo $consulta; $resultado = mysql_query($consulta); $votos_preguntas = 0; while($voto = mysql_fetch_array($resultado)){ $votos_preguntas = $votos_preguntas + $voto['valor']; } $previa_r = "SELECT id FROM recetas WHERE id_usuario = '$id'"; $r_previo_r = mysql_query($previa_r); $ids_r = '0, '; while($items_previos_r = mysql_fetch_array($r_previo_r)){ $ids_r .= $items_previos_r['id'].", "; //echo "ids pregunta usuario: ".$items_previos['id']."<br>"; } $ids = substr($ids_r,0,-2); $consulta_b = "SELECT valor FROM votos_receta WHERE id_receta IN ( $ids )"; //echo $consulta; $resultado_b = mysql_query($consulta_b); $votos_recetas = 0; while($voto_r = mysql_fetch_array($resultado_b)){ $votos_recetas = $votos_recetas + $voto_r['valor']; } $total = $votos_preguntas + $votos_recetas; return $total; } As you can si this is two much.. O(n^2) Feel like thinking? thanks!
